lancaster. walker international has accepted the osha citations and will pay $24,000 in fines after its tent collapsed during a thunderstorm in august of 2015, killing a father and his young daughter and injuring dozens of others. walker, which is currently out of business, has also agreed it will not resume operations unless it first implements a comprehensive safety plan which will include procedures for safe in other news, a woman had to jump for her life this morning in concord after her apartment building caught fire. the two-alarm fire brought in support from other nearby towns. now investigators are working to figure out how the fire started. wmur's ray brewer is live in concord this noon, and ray, any news on the woman's condition? ray: sean, we're told the woman was taken to the hospital for x-rays and to be evaluated, but

at 6:20 in the morning, concord fire department got a call reporting a fire at 8284 south state street. a neighbor, returning home from an early workout, got there first. >> i came round the corner. i could hear somebody screaming "i can't breathe, i can't breathe, i can't breathe." ray: the screams were coming from a woman trapped on the second floor. pauline mackay says a passerby stopped and told the woman to jump. >> so she jumped and she landed on her back. >> she's been transferred to the condition is not life-threatening and actually doesn't seem to be too serious at this point. ray: the fire chief says crews were on the scene within minutes and found heavy black smoke coming from the building. however, all the tenants were out. warren haslam is one of them. >> i went to make a cup of coffee and the next thing i know there was a knock on my door and i started to smell some smoke. ray: haslam says alarms were also going off. after getting dressed and before

>> i did open the door briefly just to see what was going on, and i did see flames in the apartment all the way to the front. ray: the chief says that crews managed to get the fire under control in about 20 minutes. the firefighters also managed to keep the fire from spreading and none of the surrounding homes had to be evacuated. overall, the chief says that this was a great operation, and that he had feared the worst when the call first came in, thinking that it might be a time when people were sleeping. >> we didn't have any fatalities grateful for that. ray: the red cross and catholic charities are assisting those tenants displaced by the fire, but as one tenant put it, i have money for a motel for a few days but what i do after that? reporting live in concord, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: a goffstown teenager accused of setting a fire in february that destroyed a vacant auto parts building pleaded guilty to lesser charges today. 19-year-old calvin mitoulas pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of criminal

arson for the fire on february 21 of this year. his plea deal includes suspended jail time and community service. he'll also have to build a firefighter's memorial in goffstown with members of the fire department. prosecutors believe this was the right outcome for this case. >> i think it is an appropriate outcome. i think other people who are older and who are facing similar sentences may in face find themselves in state prison. but this young man is lucky he had e that he's going to be going forward with the necessary counseling and other treatment in order to avoid this type of activity in the future, and we're going to be keeping a close eye on him so that he knows he has to take the sentence very seriously. sean: and mitoulas will also have to write a thousand-word essay about the dangers of fire. the attorney general's office is investigating two separate homicides that happened within 24 hours of each other in

week. the first one happened in wentworth last wednesday morning. police say a 60-year-old man died from blunt force injuries. in berlin, the death of a 2-year-old girl was also ruled a homicide. authorities say madison dana died sunday from blunt impact injuries. on monday, officials say a 63-year-old man in effingham died from a gunshot wound to the chest. and just yesterday another man was shot and killed in manchester. a pretty foggy start to your morning, but the fog is gone and -- starting to lift in most places, and the rain is headed our way. kevin, looking on the seacoast, still gray out there. kevin: compromising the evening commute again. looks like scattered downpours and quick inch-plus of rainfall. you can see the rain starting to push through southern areas of the state. moderate rainfall through the afternoon.

southwest is moving northeast in our direction. pockets of heavier rain late this afternoon and into the evening before tapering off overnight. we should be in the 40's this time through. it will be some ponding in area roadways and lower visibility with the rainfall coming down at a pretty good clip in spots for the evening commute and tonight. much more on the changes behind this system coming up sean: now to a developing story we are following out of manchester. police say they were called to an apartment on walnut street around 2:00 this morning for a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. his injuries are not considered life-threatening. police say the circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation. anyone with information is asked to contact the manchester police department. a bicyclist has been killed after losing control and colliding with a truck in massachusetts. state police say both the truck and the bike were stopped at a

afternoon. 58-year-old thomas fazio of methuen lost control of his bike when the light changed and he hit the side of the truck. police say the driver of the truck is a 29-year-old man from hudson new hampshire. but police say his name will not -- the crash remains under investigation. another breaking story this noon. nancy pelosi has just reelected as house minority leader despite disappointing november election results. the california lawmaker has led the party other leaders during the closed-door session that is expected to last for several hours. meantime, president-elect donald trump says he's stepping away from his billion-dollar business. trump continues to fill his cabinet but several big posts still remain open. abc's kenneth moton has the developments from washington. kenneth: donald trump's growing cabinet. the president-elect is tapping fellow billionaire wilbur ross as secretary of commerce and goldman sachs executive steve mnuchin to lead treasury.

after more than 70 people were killed when the plane carrying the team crashed in colombia. the team was headed to the finals of a major south american football tournament when the charter flight crashed into a hillside on monday. six people did survive the fiery crash. the commuter jet's black boxes are now being analyzed to figure out a cause. at least five people are dead after powerful storms ripped through alabama and tennessee. four children are also said to be in critical condition after daycare facility. officials say several other people were hurt and more than a dozen structures were destroyed. thousands are without power and heavy rain is expected throughout the day. southern storms are also having an effect on the firefighting efforts in tennessee. the governor calls this largest forest fire in state history in 100 years. now firefighters from new hampshire are headed to gatlinburg to help.

with temperatures in the low to mid 40's in southern areas and mid 40's, with one or two sunny breaks north. the rainfall builds into southern areas of the state. this is off and on through the afternoon, and then later in the day, the push of moisture in new york city and further west starts to push in good well over an inch of rainfall in some spots through tonight before it wraps up early tomorrow morning. going forward with cooler air starting to win out. highs this afternoon in the mid-40's up north. 34 atop mount washington. completely different situation when the precipitation moved in yesterday morning. visibility this morning down to 1/8 mile or less in some spots. it is affecting the light wind out of the northeasterly

of the afternoon. it will not, let at once, this will be a gradual cooldown over the next four days. after tomorrow, we go back three or four degrees per day all the way through monday. southern half of the state especially, light to moderate rain and even briefly heavy at times. the new notice as we cycled through the evening and the overnight hours, more makes its way across the state just after sunrise tomorrow. the skies start to clear for central and southern areas of the state. temperatures could jump into the low to mid 50's. it is from there that we see the cooler air work its way back in. a few areas of light snow thursday night into friday. a click we will have lingering mountain snow up north. over central and southern areas, partial sunshine.
