those almost california weathers. >> gorgeous, right? >> and god bless everybody in california battling these fires. my lord. anyway, i have one picture to show. >> i would like to see it. >> remember everybody met little aaron last week? >> yes. >> he came to spend two days with us. there he is! we're having some crabs and he sat in that little thing for the entire time while we ate just laughing and smiling at you. how funny. >> by the way, his face is hysterical. >> i call him schecky because i worked with schecky green for years in the catskills, a little jewish comedian in the catskills. i just love him. >> he's so cute. >> so speaking of puppies -- are we going to show this shot of the doggies in there they are. >> are they humping? [ laughter ] >> no! can you for once not thinking about humping? >> i'm just saying at first glance it looked like one big -- >> no! they're just enjoying one of those perfect summer days. apparently there's a video of a

tiny little pomeranian that makes quite the noise when he has to sneeze. that's what everyone's talking about. [ dog sneeze s s with a long whistle ] oh my! is that for real? again? [ laughter ] okay, that's terrifying. if i heard that in the middle of the night, sounds like a raccoon. >> his name the roux, and he has a facebook page, roux the pomeranian. and he has instagram, too. i wonder if he has allergies or something. >> do your dogs sneeze? >> louie had breathing problems but not like that. have you wondered what what shania twain has been up to? she's on a farewell tour and there was a picture with her along with miranda lambert.
10:02 am
check out miranda and shania. first of all, shania's blond. >> i didn't even recognize her. >> i actually saw the picture and said "who's with miranda lambert?" it's shania. look at this, wow. what do you think, blond or brunette? >> brunette. she's such a beautiful woman. >> she's gorgeous no matter what. and so sweet. miranda didn't look too happy, though, did she? >> she was in the vice grip, baby. >> maybe it was just caught at a bad moment. shania wrote on her instagram "girl's night, love you." it's nice. you have to support one another, right? maybe she's just a big shania fan, who isn't? when you've been on tour it's fun to watch somebody else up there doing their thing. >> you're right. and i think after a breakup people are looking for things. they want to see if she's happy, sad, what's she doing. she could have been just going to a concert to enjoy herself. >> i don't think miranda lambert or blake are the type to crawl
10:03 am
into a fetal position and stay there. they'll get on with life. they're very, very busy. we talked about it many times, though. they would sometimes see each froer tour buses going -- another. it's hard to make that work. >> it is. >> do you remember bindi irwin? she's the crocodile hunter steve irwin's daughter. she was just eight when her dad was killed by a stingray in 2006. now this little girl is 17. she's on the cover of this australia's sunday magazine and you get to see her all grown up and she says after her dad's death she's realized as she got over that you never move on from it. she learned a lot from that passing but it's interesting to see her grown up. she was a sweet kid. >> and she was so involved in -- >> everything i've read is she's still involved in the outdoors. >> you lost your father very suddenly. >> i lost my daddy after a very

long, horrible illness. wherever it happens you're not ready for it. >> love what you've got while you've got them. >> some people thought kurt russell might not be here for long because apparently there's a picture of him that -- oh! >> yeah. >> oh, my word. >> so that picture was out -- >> you should see the other guys is what they like to say. >> they say you shouldn't worry. this is banged up for a movie. it's all makeup and smoke and mirrors. he's filming a movie called "deep water horizon" who plays an oil worker who survives an explosion on an oil rig in the gulf of mexico. hoda love this is. >> i do. >> the new trend for women having babies is this what they want before their first photo is taken is they want to get their their blown and makeup down so they have stylists at the ready so as soon as the baby goes out they go racing in and hocus-pocus, boom, you pose for you and your baby.
10:05 am
a salon said some women are realizing with social media that once you post your picture it goes everywhere and they want to have this memorable photo as one they feel like they want everywhere. >> i've given birth twice and it's the last thing i would have wanted. >> hair and makeup after? >> no, you bond with your child. it's not about you. i'm not judging anybody that does it, i just -- you know what? i didn't have a choice because there was no social media when i had my children. cassidy turned 22 yesterday! so my kids are 25 and 22. >> wow. >> don't blink, honestly. your babies are grown and gone. >> 22 yesterday? >> you realize how long has facebook been around, 10 years? life was simpler then. you didn't think about such things. you maybe put on lipstick and brushed your hair but you wanted -- my favorite pictures are the first moment with your baby and your husband and nothing, you've done nothing except -- the wonderment in your face from seeing this child
10:06 am
brought into this world. >> your right, your focus isn't on you. when you're kate middleton she got her hair and stuff done. >> well, she has to go outside. i don't know they took any inside the hospital. >> i guess it's like whatever the first picture that is out there. >> not judging, it just seems a little -- i don't know, like everything else these days, everything is for show, nothing is sacred. >> there you go. >> give it to everybody. put on a thong, too, while you're at it. >> well, why not? what? so it was hot this weekend. >> how hot was it, hoda? >> it was so hot -- anyway, buzzfeed came up with a list of things that people do when they're dealing with the heat. >> you sweat in places you never sweated before. >> you know what i hate? when you go for a run and i always wear black because you don't want to show sweat stains in weird places. it happens. have you ever done that? you go running in a pair of gray ones and suddenly you're like why am i sweating down?
10:07 am
it's embarrassing. >> i've never run that fast. i don't even think about that stuff. that's why i do everything at home in the privacy of my own home. >> it happens and people like at you like "hey, how are you -- oh! hey, you might want to shower." [ laughter ]4;i>|txd you sweat profusely as soon as you step out of the shower. is it sweat or water? >> is it wet fromex't#?| shower or still sweating? >> you'd rather be single or hold hands with a clammy partner. we get it. all right, we both discussed. all right. you're going to be in the park sweating tonight. >> well, with central park will be gorgeous tonight. "beautiful" the carol king musical is coming to central park. it's free. the cast will sing all of t songs. >> all of them? >> no, almost all. they're doing sets of four and i talk a little bit in between but isn't that going to be cool. anyway, it starts at 8:00 but it's limited tickets. they're free but you should be there i think 7:00 they open it
10:08 am
up, 6:00, 7:00. >> you know what a lot of people don't realize? that broadway people work six days a week and this usually -- monday is their dark day and this is the one day they have to go out and? do something else your snow. >> and they're going to share. >> broadway people are unbelievable the. unbelievable. stick around. you'll love our favorite things. >> yes, you've been swearing by yours. >> i just started doing what whitney cummings was talking about and it's a little pricey but let's put it this way, it's a facelift and a whole lot more. >> plus the hollywood scoop you missed this week end in today's buzz after this, hody. progressive insurance here, and i'm a box who thrives on the unexpected. ha-ha! shall we dine? [ chuckle ] you wouldn't expect an insurance company to show you their rates and their competitors' rates, but that's precisely what we do. going up! nope, coming down. and if you switch to progressive today, you could save an average of over 500 bucks.

>> bishop td jakes made his mark as an author, movie producer and businessman. today he has new to share with us. >> we'll talk to him about that but first, here's a look at his accomplishments. >> if you find your opposition, you found your opportunity. >> for more than 36 years bishop td jakes has been inspiring people all over the world. long before he was selected by "time" magazine as america's best preacher, bishop jakes found his calling while attending west virginia state university. now he's probably best known as the founder and senior pastor of the potter's help, one of the largest churches in the country. but he's also made his mark in holly wood making movies "heaven is for real," "winnie mandela" and "jumping the broom." >> sometimes life will test you. >> with more than five million
10:29 am
followers on social media, it's no surprise one of the reasons "new york times" has named him one of the most influential preachers in america. his latest book is called "destiny, step into your purpose." bishop jakes joins us now. >> by the way, it's 39 books. >> what made you decide, bishop jakes, to write about destiny? >> well, people were interested in understanding who they are at their core and i told them that if instincts were metal than destiny would be the magnet that draws you. and all of us i think have been drawn in some way to our destiny,p. meeting the right people at the right time. not things that we necessarily orchestrate but is orchestrated on our behalf. >> scripture talks about that sort of thing. that god has a plan. >> absolutely. >> we know in the advance. but don't we have to partner
10:30 am
with that plan? >> that's what the book is about. how to focus on that plan. and i spent a great deal of time talking about behind-the-scenes moments i had with mrs. king, . >> very moving. >> going into her life and understanding she had a sense of destiny. and it's not about prophets, it's about purpose. and if you find your purpose, the prophets will find you. >> a lot of people do feel lost. they may have a nice family they love and have a job that's tedious but they need to be there. how do you help direct them to find their destiny? >> well, we don't walk into it with one leap. i talk about steps to the book. there are many steps to find your destiny and purpose and when you look back you see how they fit together to work for your good when you're going through these things heather stelter. >> but suddenly it clicks and i talk about the moment when it focuses because it's not an issue of where we're going, the
10:31 am
real issue is what we're willing to let go of to get there. >> the journey. but the goal is -- the journey is part of the goal. >> and being able to release things that are distractions from your destiny. >> yes, hoda! how many times have we talked. >> uh-oh. i opened up a can of worms, didn't i? >> did you know from the jump this was going to be your path or did you have something else in mind when you were a young man? >> i caught glimpses. when my mother was going outdoors speaking and she did a lot of speaking for her sorority, i was an eight-year-old boy in the back of the car and i said "right now i'm going to hear you speak and they call you your son, the time will come and they'll call you tom jakes' mother." now i didn't know it would be preaching, but i love people. i love crowds, i love working with people and i caught glimpses and i know life is full of glimpses along the way.
10:32 am
>> you have to hold on to that. people might say "i love that but i have to make a living. so although i enjoy being in front of people, i have to take a different path to get insurance." >> i worked at union carbide, i was a salesman for a men's clothing store, i worked for sears paint. i did everything along the way. that doesn't mean you're not getting there. all of them taught me leadership and discipline and focus. you don't know how you get there how your paths fit into your future. you know what i'm saying? things that you thought were not related to your destiny all of a sudden you think "i needed that, i needed that." that's what the book is, helping you to identify the steps that lead you to your destiny. >> first thing to do is cling to one hand that will guide you to it. and you talk a lot about that divine presence in your life is such a part of the whole thing. >> it's critical. you know there is a master plan and you want to align yourself to it and you can't talk about the master plan and not talk about the master. so that's a sense of being
10:33 am
