grief and memories. we should say yogi not just a baseball hero, not just a new york hero, an american hero. >> reporter: absolutely, michael. so many greats have worn yankees pinstripes, but there was only one yogi berra. as the baseball world is waking up to this news, we've been hearing tributes to the legendary catcher. officials at museum tell me berra died of natural causes at the age of 90. he debuted with the yankees back in 1946 and became one of the greatest clutch hitters the game ever saw. he was a 15-time all star, brought home ten world championships, a three-time mvp and hall of famer. he took his final at-bat in 1965. berra was beloved off the field as well. he was a hero who fought on the beaches of normandy on d-day. he was called the philosopher king of baseball.
