we have more on the new information. >> reporter: grisly and disturbing new details. police in massachusetts saying the victim was found naked and burned. it started as a missing person case, but that search and search dogs led investigators to a body in the woods. the victim is 2-year-old vanessa marcotte. she's a google account executive who lived in new york city but had been back home in princeton, massachusetts, visiting her mother. princeton is just north of wooster, mass, 50 sunday vanessa went for a jog but never came home. she was reported missing. after a massive search, police and state troopers found vanessa's body just a half mile away from her mother's house. and we said police say she was found naked and burned. less than 24 hours into the investigation, detectives still trying to determine who would do this and why. >> we do not know if this was a random act. we are asking the residents of

to use an abundance of caution. we're asking the public to be careful and vigilant. >> reporter: a spokesperson at marcotte's employer, google, issued a statement saying, "vanessa marcotte was a much-loved member of our google team working in the new york office the last year and a half. she was known for her smile, passion for volunteer work, and love of boston sports. we're deeply shocked and saddened, and our thoughts are with her family and friends. session portion of a news conference, reporters asked if the murder had any link to a murder last week. it is early, but police do not believe there is a connection. >> all right. thank you very much. and tonight, a community meeting is being held in howard beach to discuss the murder of karina vetrano. we're getting more on the dna evidence obtained by police. more at 6:00. new at 5:00, all lane are

parkway in new jersey. police tell us a school bus got into an accident this afternoon on one of the southbound lanes. no children were on the bus at the time. only the driver and another adult were on board when the vehicle somehow flipped. both are doing fine. not clear what caused the accident. there's a heated debate in west chester over this. developers want to build a hotel on this former dump in tuckahoe. some fear it could stir up toxic waste and contaminate the tonight. gus? >> reporter: yeah, good evening. big worries in a small town. we found out what's causing the worries is actually, well, kind of pretty. lush trees and wildlife flowers top the quarry. joe, now 84, remembers it filled with tons of industrial waste when he was a kid here decades ago. >> what we've got to do is convince the powers that be to

as a dump for nearby villages and businesses in the 1950s, marble from the quarry helped build monuments, the library and st. patrick's cathedral. now development wants to build a five-story hotel. this mom's son attends the waverly school up the road. >> i'm also concerned about the toxic dust which will be blowing as they're constructing the list of chemicals, how it's going to react to the air. >> reporter: there are no records of what was left behind, but environmental officials have given the plan the go ahead after testing. a developer says material that would be dug up does not pose a threat. >> it's my job to make sure that we hold him to the strictest standards, and that's absolutely what we've been doing. >> reporter: the next step, a vote on the project that's been two years in the making by the village planning board in september. in the village of 6,000, more than 1,000 people is signed a

including trustee john mariani. >> all we want to know is what's down below. >> reporter: and in addition to that petition, there will be a rally with neighbors happening outside the village hall here at 7:30 tonight. then there will be a town meeting at 8:00. the developers and state officials will be taking questions. if our trip here is any indication, there will be a lot of questions. gus rosendale, an attack in the bronx caught on camera. look at this. a group charges after two young men in an attempt to apparently rob them. as you see, it happened in broad daylight. news 4 has more from morris heights and the suspects police want to find. marc? >> reporter: the attack spilled out here on the sidewalk and spilled out on to tremont and university avenues. fists flying, kicks landing, two

we have more from emotional family members at the west chester courthouse today. >> reporter: outside the home, the memorial continues to grow for the 15-month-old. you see plenty of candles, teddy bears, as well as a sign that says, "rest in peace, samia," with a picture. dasia bartee faced a judge, charged with killing her daughter. prosecutors say she repeatedly punched samia to s and caused internal bleeding leading to samia's death. >> not easy to raise kids by yourself. sometimes you have to be strong for them. >> reporter: our cameras denied access to the courtroom, but we caught up with family and friends as they left. >> it was very hard. very hard. dasia, i love you very much. you are my niece. i love you very much, and my

>> would never do anything like that. i'm telling. i lived with her. from the bottom of my heart, my friend is innocent. >> reporter: as she left in tears, others told us bartee was a good mother. >> every time she was stressed out, she went for a walk. she never took nothing out on her kids. i knew this girl for years. she would never touch her kids at all. she made sure her kids was bathed, clean, they went to school, everything. she never once beat her kids, nothing like that. she took good >> reporter: police say samia had been dead for several hours and was extremely cold by the time they got on scene. they believe she spent some time inside a freezer. prosecutors say bartee has an extensive history with child protective services with her other two children, ages 6 and 9. as bartee walked to the courtroom today, the family started yelling things like "we

she is due back in court august 17th. that's the latest from mt. vernon. news 4 new york. to decision 2016 now. tonight, the man and woman who want to be president are talking money. donald trump laid out his economic policies to help boost the nation's bottom line. melissa russo, government affairs reporter, with more. >> reporter: after a tumultuous time for his campaign, donald trump tried to touch americans in a place nay care -- their wallets. >> i am proposing a across-the-board income tax reduction, especially for middle-income americans. >> reporter: promising fewer rules and regulations, donald trump said taxes will be lower and simpler if he's president. last year, trump proposed downsizing from the existing seven tax brackets to just four. at 0, 10, 20, and 25%. today, trump proposed three
