can't forget about this. you walk outside and feel it hot, humid, showers, sticky, all that. >> we had drama in the weather department, too. we had a tornado warning on the east end of long island earlier this afternoon. that storm did produce damage and possible tornado in connecticut. but it is long gone now. so let's take a look outside. one thing is for sure, still left over is the high humidity and heat. boy is it sweltering out there. temperature at 86 degrees right now in the there are some downpours in the area right now. nothing over mid town. but just to the north in the bronx and up towards yonkers. we have one storm damage report so far over the east end that one is happened at 4:17 this afternoon. a tree came down at the intersection of mill lane and route 25. of that same thunderstorm though, started in connecticut in new haven county with likely tornado there. we've seen video from that
6:50 pm
and that same storm passed over long island sound. it innocencefide rapidly and moved over to twin forks with damage and possibly a lightning strike to a home that burned. we will check on that a little bit later on. in the meantime we've seen a lot of activity across the area today. let's take a look now at what's happening. here is a look now at flash flood warning. that is still in effect for the twin forks until 7:00. had quite a bit of rain out here. most of it f but anywhere from 1 to 2 1/2 inches likely across the twin forks. and that's why the flood warning is still in effect but it should end at 7:00. so coming up. look at down tors, near yonkers, great neck, oyster bay, smith town, these cells right now coming down at the rate of 2 to 2 1/2 inches an hour. more than popped up now in rochester and rockland towards

ones in orange county. we mengd how the downpours could cause intense flooding right where they are. they aren't moving much. this tropical air mass isn't going anywhere any time soon. it is coming up from the gulf of mexico and swinging through the ohio valley into the northeast. big high pressure out here that is the bermuda highs pumping it in. in the meantime a few more thunderstorms and downpours left over until 9:00 or 10:00. then we see things calming down. then it fires back up again tomorrow with heat and humidity that heat is from the tropics. remember, it is going to feel worse with the conditions in the 90s. temperatures making it feel like a hundred to 105. we've got a heat advisory in effect through the weekend. look at the 90s. feels like it's 100. and heat and humidity stay with us until early next week. not much heat for a while. another update tonight after the olympics. >> we have been warned about this. >> yes.
6:53 pm

what an afternoon slash evening it has been. we've been monitoring a situation in the last 15 minutes. the man climbing trump tower just pulled in. we have that moment for you on video as officers got him in through the window. >> indeed. he riveted all of us. and all of you i'm sure. this human fly going up with the suction cups you see stilltu but that's what he was using, just suction cups on glass, scaling that building. and then a dramatic conclusion where he was brought back in through the window by police officers. they then removed the cuffs. he is now in custody. the curious thing now, what do they do with him? what do they charge him with? what is his fate? >> he will be brought out of trump tower in handcuffs and taken to the area hospital for
6:56 pm
then nypd brass at scene will give a press conference about what they know about the man and what the charges might be and the process that was in the police mind about how they were going to top them, wait him out, and eventually get into a position to get close enough to him to take him in safely without putting the climber's safety at risk or any of the officers at risk. so again expected to emerge from trump tower, led i hospital for evaluation. given the hours that he spent climbing and making sure he is okay. and then we will hear from police about more about who he is. the best information we have is based on what he told police. which is that his name was steve and that he is from the d.c./virginia area. and we are waiting confirmation on his official identification. so that information with the grain of salt but we've heard that from numerous police officials who say that's what
6:57 pm
to speak with him. there's also that video that appears to be, you know, the exact image of the climber making a video saying i'm a trump supporter and i'm doing this to try to get his attention because i never had any other way of getting in touch with donald trump to tell him what i'm thinking about. so the question is, is this man a political activist, does this man have a history of mental illness and why was it that he statement, whatever that was, climbing 20 plus stories of the trump tower before he got taken into custody and hauled in through that window by the emergency service unit officers. who themselves, while they are hardest in any situation like this, it is a, you know, real safety consideration for both the climber and the officers who are, you know, 20 flights up doing the best they can to keep the situation safe and under control while you have hundreds

below on fifth avenue looking up at that climber who, as you see, was doing everything he could for several hours to try to avoid the officers who were trying to cut out windows and get him to turn himself in. >> clearly he was not going to turn himself in. no. he was going to try to evade officers at the end and they had to take that action. >> our eyes on the ground here it up for us. hey, ray. >> natalie, chuck, right now what we are waiting for is that person to come out of trump tower in custody. everyone's ice are glued on the entrance of trump tower. the crowd have gathered on the corner of 56th and 5th avenue as they get a glimpse of this man who climbed trump tower.
6:59 pm
several ambulances out here as well ready to take that man in case he was hurt in any way to get him checked out. what we see 5th avenue between 56th and 57th is blocked off as we wait for that trump tower to come in in police custody. several officers on the ground and all of us have made our way from 56th and made our way around the corner as we wait for that man to come out and we know he is in police custody and there are several officers lined up outside for him to come out. truck, natalie? >> ray, thank you very much. he is at ambulance waiting to take her to the hospital. we do know that he clearly had some skill in climbing and we do know that he clearly did not intend to surrender. >> and there's that last look there at the moment that police after he tried to avoid them really for the past three hours they finally got an in through that window and chuck everything ended up all right. everybody is okay. everybody is safe. though it did -- it was quite a
