"today in new york's" katherine creag is in midtown now with where that man is this morning and where this stands. you said new police presence behind you there at trump tower. >> absolutely. first we want to tell you that young man, he is at bellevue psychiatric evaluation. as for what's going on here at trump tower, the first thing you notice are the police officers. security guards at this entrance. the same thing for the other entrances. it begs the question, how did that young man manage to climb trump tower. this began around 3:40 in the afternoon when investigators say a young man in his 20s named stephen rogata from virginia started scaling the side of trump tower using suction cups. three hours later police yanked

floor. a window officers had to cut out. he was brought in. police have learned he didn't want to hurt anyone. but had a request that he wanted to meet donald trump. people gathered around fifth avenue, 56th street and madison avenue by the hundreds to look at this. the detective who ultimately pulled in rogata described that moment. >> when it presented itself, i reached out, i took hold of his to come with me. and i brought him inside with the help of my partner. >> it is still being investigated how rogata got to the side of trump tower. police say he was not injured when they pulled him inside. in his backpack police found gatorade, climbing gear, no weapons. a lot of questions, one of them how much did this cost the nypd and the city? we're waiting to hear from the police department how much that cost. back to you.

up. thank you very much. new this morning a search is underway for a man who tried to lure a 12-year-old girl in the bronx. early this morning the nypd released this sketch. the victim screamed for help after a man followed her on to an elevator and threatened to harm her. it happened last month inside a building near 175th and walton avenue in the mount hope section. that young girl was able to get away banging on apartment doors and yelling for help as the suspect ran away. happening right now, scene of an apartment fire in maryland. it may have been sparked by an explosion. live pictures of the scene in silver springs show the fire is now under control. the exact cause of that fire is not known. firefighters say natural gas helped feed the flames. video posted online from earlier in the evening shows flames shooting out of one building's windows. firefighter say another building also caught fire, one of them partially collapsed.

the new haven register acquired this video of the incident from back in may at the roberto clemente school. the lawyer for the family of the 9-year-old boy says it shows the teacher grabbing him by the neck before slamming him into a locker it happened after the boy got into a verbal altercation with the teach police are releasing surveillance video of a man wanted for using skimming devices on atm users. this man stole more than from a victim's account at an atm in whitestone queens in february. he also hit an atm at bank of america in union square two separate times in march stealing more than $1400 . if you recognize this person, call police. in brooklyn, police are looking for these gunmen seen wearing hooded masks. police say they were holding up a clerk in bushwick.

jersey turnpike. traffic moving nicely by newark liberty airport. california officials say one of the state's most destructive wildfires was caused by a hot tub's faulty wiring. the valley fire killed four people and burned 120 square miles north of san francisco. the hot tub wiring was not up to code. criminal charges may result as a result of the september 2015 fire. unusually warm temperatures ar visitors to the waters off the jersey shore. jellyfish, sea turtles and hammer head sharks are making their presence known this summer. >> sharks and sea turtles love the warmer water. >> so how warm is the water? the temperature reached 82 degrees yesterday afternoon off the coast of atlantic city. one swimmer said it felt more like a swimming pool instead of the ocean. i love the water temperature like that.

happened. >> reporter: it only took fire officials about 30 minutes to get this fire under control. at least a dozen people were injured in the process. one had to jump to safety from this burning residential building. we want to show you video of what it looked like when we arrived a short time ago. we're told ten people were looked at at jacobi hospital. six suffered minor injuries when the fire broke out. one serious. a couple of firefighters are also being looked at a stable -- is in serious but stable condition. i spoke to a man on the street who said he saw the man jump from a first floor window. that's where it is thought the fire originated from. he actually said he saw him at the hospital a short time ago and he is actually doing well. we don't have that update yet from fire officials, but we will check in with them. as you can see over my shoulder, the building is destroyed at this point.

tower. right now he's in the hospital as we learn more about the possible motivation for this dangerous stunt. katherine creag is at trump towers. what is security looking like this morning? >> reporter: there are security guards and police officers at the entrance. the same for the other entrances. you don't have the onlookers, the hundreds, perhaps thousands gathered here wondering how did that young man climb trump tower? it all began around afternoon when investigators say a 19-year-old named stephen rogata from virginia began scaling the side of trump tower using suction cups. three hours later police yanked him through a window on the 21st floor. a window officers had to cut open. he was brought in. police learned he didn't want to hurt anyone but had a request that he wanted to meet trump. people gathered around 5th avenue and 56th street.

two rabbis. it happened tuesday night in new city. the small blast made a lot of noise and sparked a fire. someone inside the home tells police four teen boys were seen running away. police are releasing new vo of the man wanted for allegedly setting seven trucks on fire in brooklyn. here's the man police are looking for. they say last month in east new york he broke the passenger windows on seven trucks before tossing a litla cabins. police say he took off in a white box truck. the victims say more than 25 trucks have been set on fire in the last three months. a much anticipated nypd body camera pilot program being delayed for six months. according to court papers, a federally appointed monitor and the department have yet to pick a slyer for the cameras. once they do it will take time to get them and distribute them. a federal judge ordered the department to take part in the pilot program to cut back on

man who tried to lure a 12-year-old girl in the bronx. early this morning the nypd gave us a sketch of the suspect the victim screamed for help after a man followed her on to an elevator and threatened to harm her. happened inside a building near 175th and walton avenue. that young girl was able to get away, banging on apartment doors and yelling for help as the suspect ran away. on long island, many people will be an ef-0 touched down in mattituck. trees were ripped down. and in connecticut, a tornado struck, and a driver driving right into the vortex.

man manage to scale trump tower? it began around 3:30 in the afternoon, when investigators say 19-year-old stephen rogata began climbing the high rise using suction cups. three hours later police yanked him through a window on the 21st floor. in dramatic fashion he was brought in. police learned he didn't want to hurt anyone but had a request that he wanted to meet trump. people gathered around 5th area was shut down to drivers and pedestrians. while police negotiated with rogata to give up, he said he didn't want to. >> i could see he was getting tired. i said if i lock this in, if you get tired we'll have you. you won't fall. he refused to take the line. >> reporter: detective williams said he found an opportunity to get close enough to rogata.

remember the victims of the september 11th attacks is coming to an end. for the last 15 years, thousands of motorcyclists have taken part in the ride that passes through new york city, shanksville, pen and arlington, virginia. but the event's organizer says this year's ride will be the last. he said he's frustrated with police in maryland and virginia who are not willing to clear the roads for the bikers. trash on roads is causing more accidents than you may think. more over the past five years involve load debris, including crashes caused by drivers have to avoid something. those crashes led to 500 deaths between 2011 and 2014 alone. drivers need to make sure things are secure on their vehicle and look for debris ahead on the
