area thorough fares, you can see on the map here, no major problems this morning, we'll keep you updated through this morning, weather and traffic coming up here in a few minutes, mike and stefan. >> a late start this morning, thanks a lot. fire crews in wake county are the scene of a late night house fire, take a look at the video we've gotten, firefighters responding to cromwell court, one person got out safely but with minor injuries, investigators trying to figure out what started that fire, we'll keep you here. arresting two people and charged them with running a meth lab out of their home. >> 28-year-old melissa godshell and kettering at their home. emma wright with an update, and what police found inside is surprising. >> reporter: police say they found two young kids inside the home where the two were

a neighbor said the neighborhood is family oriented and they're surprised to hear what happened. police saw they spent most of the night investigating, a got a search warrant and that's when they found the meth lab in the house, they're both facing charges including manufacturing and trafficking meth. police say the two kids ages 1 and 7 were taken to the hospital as a precaution to see if they'd been exposed to any of the drugs, neighbors are surprised to hear what happened. the two were renting the house and had just moved in. >> the house had been vacant though for some while, and, i know the people besides it, i thought they bought the home, remodelling, but obviously they didn't. in our neighborhood, i call the police. >> reporter: raleigh police say this is still under investigation, they say godshall

court, i'm emma wright, wncn news. earlier this month, authorities arrested five people in connection with running a meth lab at a wake county home. three children taken from that home, now with relatives. in one week, the medical examiner's office is looking in to a crisis, especially an impact on yuw people -- young people. we talked to a young woman in recovery, she's trying to turn her life around after an adriks -- addiction to heroin. >> i thought i was going to die on it i could never picture my life without it because that's how sick i got. >> in the community, several deaths, young people that had lives ahead of them and they're in the grave yard. >> a huge problem, nash county investigators seized more than year.

next month with agencies in surrounding counties. new breaking news how a man involved in a domestic violence incident died in police custody, taking him in at 9:00, he was in handcuff and complained of chest pains. medics helped him out immediately, no force was used and he was cooperative with officers. 24-year-old kevin powell jr. is expect naid courtroom, accused of -- expected in a courtroom, accused of shooting his mother in the head, he walked in the spa on ireland avenue and shot his home, at last check she was at critical condition at unc hospital. an atlanta federal judge denied bond for a zwrul ri thief, abigail kemp is a danger to the community and a flight risk as well. kemp is accused of carrying out

30s for most of us right now, upper 30s for many of us. our radar is completely clear but if we zoom things out here, you can see a batch of rain impacting portions of georgia and alabama this morning, and that is pushing in to the area eventually this afternoon from the southwest, this is our next wave of low pressure and that is going to bring us wet weather as we head through today and in to tonight before we dry out in the time for your weekend. 39 degrees in raleigh and durham, henderson, cooler across parts of the sand hills, the reversal we're used to seeing during the morning hours, sand hills warmer, 31 fayetteville, 28 degrees in raeford. clouds will increase, mostly cloudy skies, the bus stop, 39 this afternoon, 52. so a warm day for us with steady rain arriving after lunch time, that wet weather, it makes its way in to the area after lunch time and continues through the evening commute even through your dinner time before we start to see that wet weather winding

coming up, how much of the >> "wncn today", what you need to know right now. >> 4:44, our top stories this morning, right now crews in wake county are trying to figure out what started a late night house fire. >> firefighters responded to cromwell court around 11:00 last night, one person was home but got out safely, suffering mierchb injuries -- minor injuries. also, two people accused of running a meth lab out of their home, melissa godshall and 43-year-old robert kennerley at a home last night, police say they found a 1-year-old and a 7-year-old inside that home at the time. there were some heated exchanges between donald trump and ted cruz at last night's republican presidential debate in south carolina. most of the participants focused on the majority of the criticism towards democratic presidential president obama.

arrested three men they suspect to link to terrorist attack in the heart of jakarta, the arrests happened at a raid near the suspects' homes near the capital. five men attacked a starbucks cafe and traffic police with hand made guns and suicide belts, killing two people. all the attackers were killed in the event, isis, the sunni muslim terrorist group claiming responsibility for the crime. police say they found a flag of the islamic state group in one of the attacker's home. also more breaking news, japanese authorities say at least 14 people died in an overnight bus crash, 27 hurt, the group was headed to a ski resort. well, today, the duck boats will return to seattle after a deadly attack, last september, a crash between a duck boat and a bus killed five people, injuring dozens of others, no longer using the aurora bridge there where it happened.

crew members on board instead of just one as it was before. today, the obama administration is expected to announce a moratorium on any major coal leases on federal lands. a comprehensive review is to be announced later today, the results show whether the fees charged to mining companies provide a fair return to american taxpayers. now roughly 40% of the coal produced in the u.s. comes from federal property. yesterday wncn investigates toward the site where tens of thousands of coal ash leaked in to the dan river nearly two years ago, duke energy has started claebing -- cleaning up the 3 million tons of ash. they're shipping it to landfills in virginia. half of the ash will be hauled away and the other half lined up, capped and restored on site. duke says they're right on track to clean up the site. >> we've moved already more than 66,000 tons of coal ash here and

even if we have to work everyday, 4:30 in the morning. >> and delivering news of rain in the forecast, we're dry, need the umbrella for later, keep that in mind. we're cloudy right now, our wncn radar not showing anything locally. if we zoom out, you can see a swath of rain over parts of georgia in to the florida panhandle and also in to alabama and that is pushing its way up from the southwest, this is what's going to move in to the area as we head through this afternoon and in to this evening. some heavy rain possible, briefly as that area of low pressure moves in. it's 39 degrees outside in raleigh, 39 also in durham, 38 henderson, 37 in roanoke rapids, fayetteville, 39 the current temperature. rain hold off until after lunch time, a 30% chance of showers right around noon but by 2:00, 4:00, 6:00 this afternoon and evening, we're looking at our best chance of seeing some of that steadier rain, heavier showers pushing in with our high

so we have this area of low pressure working its way in from the southwest, that's what's going to bring us some of that heavy rain today, and it looks to continue through early this evening before the showers really wrap up as we head in to tonight. tomorrow, we are dry, partly cloudy, very warm, so temperatures tomorrow going to be pushing 60 degrees for many of us out ahead of this cold front which moves in the area on saturday nouchlt, you may have --. now, you may have heard a lot of bus on social media, we have a cold front moving in on sunday. we may have isolated showers, very isolated shower as we head through sunday. some spots, where it's cold enough, we may have flakes mixing in with those showers, nothing to go crazy about, not talking armageddon here, just a chance for few flake as that cold front pushing in through sunday. we're dry before that wet weather moves in this afternoon in to this evening, some of the deeper colors in the futurecast indicating some of that heavier rain. by midnight tonight, showers are

head through tonight and in to our day tomorrow, sunshine returning for the start of our weekend. expect a high of 52 in raleigh today, 51 durham, 51 in fayetteville with wet weather -- this afternoon. our temperatures stay warm, dropping to 50 degrees, as we head in to tomorrow, a high temperature in the afternoon of 58, a very, very warm start to the weekend, our next cold front moves in on sunday. temperatures cool off to 46 on sunday, looking at a high of 36 on monday and tuesday behind that cold front, tuesday morning we'll actually start in the teens around 19 degrees. so really chilly air moving in as we head through this week ahead, a lot of sunshine in the forecast too, we'll have more updates through this morning. let's get a check on that morning drive outside currently, we've got nothing to worry about on the roads. here's a live look from i-440 and capital boulevard where it looks like traffic is moving along fine in both directions there.

in cumberland county, holding a breakfast, dr. king's i have a dream speech will be delivered also at the event. today, the garner police department will host a grand opening celebration at its new location, this marks the first time in 40 years the entire department will be under the same roof. the facility houses a wellness center, training rooms, advanced technology, all throughout the space. it's a morale booster for officers after a mural on the building was defaced with graffiti back in october. we brought you that story. a new mural also will be unveiled later today. today, vice president joe biden with his mission of cancer and ways to fight the deadly disease. you may remember, his son died of brain cancer last year. at tuesday night's state of the union of the address, obama tapped him on the head to work on cancer, visiting cancer

the husband of award winning singer celine dion has died. renee angelio spent years as her manager, they married in 1994, they have three children together, he was 74 years old. funeral arrangements are underway for alan rickman, he died from cancer, he was known for his reel roles as hanz gruber in the movie die hard and the comedy love actually. also was the art teacher, his name was severis snake, i hope i got that right, destroy you if i got it -- did i get it right? thank goodness.
