need it for off the bus, mostly cloudy, 39 degrees this morning. by the time they get off the bus later today, we're looking at a temperature of around 52 with steady rain. showers move in after lunch time, steadiest and heaviest rain moves in after 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. this afternoon. and continues through your evening drive, so keep that in mind, could be messy for that evening drive home. outside as far as your roads go this morning, we've got no major issues to report, you're taking a live look at i-440 in the u.s. 64 bypass where traffic is moving just fine in both directions there. as far as accidents go, we are clear this morning, no major issue to report on any of your area thoroughfares, more weather and traffic coming up in just a few minutes. >> looks good, kristin, thanks so much. crews in wake county are on the scene of a night house fire. firefighters responded to cromwell court near raleigh around 11:00 , one person was home but got out safely and suffered some minor injuries though, investigators still

fire, keeping you updated here. arresting two people and charged them with running a meth lab out of their home. >> investigators arrested these two people, 28-year-old melissa godshall and 32 -- 43-year-old robert kennerley. >> reporter: yeah, it was disturbing, they were allegedly making the meth, a neighbor tells us an area where this happened is usually a family friendly community and they're not happy to hear there was meth nearby. police spent much of night investigating, they got a search warrant and that's when they found the meth lab inside. godshall and kennerley both facing several charges including manufacturing and trafficking meth. police say the two kids, ages 1 and 7 were taken to the hospital as a precaution. neighbors say

happened. they say the two were renting the house and just moved in. >> the house had been vacant though for some while. and i know the people beside it, i thought they bought the home, they were remodeling, but obviously, they did and i don't know who lived in it. we don't want it in our neighborhood, if i seen it, i call the police in a heartbeat. >> reporter: raleigh police still investigating, hoping to release more information today. as for godshall and kennerley, they are both expected to make their first court appearance later today. reporting live, i'm emma wright, wncn news. >> hoping those children are okay, emma, thanks a lot. aerltd -- earlier this month, arresting five people all in connection with a meth lab in wake county. three children taken from the home there, they are now living with relatives. the medical examiner's office is looking in to five suspected overdose deaths in and around nash county. the incidents happened all in one week, the sheriff says the

having an impact on young people. now we talked with one young woman in recovery who's trying to turn her life around. >> to be honest with you after i came here i thought i was going to die on it. i could never picture my life on it that's how sick i gotten. >> i'm hearing way too often in the community several deaths, these are young people that had lives ahead of them and they're endi huge problem. nash county investigators seized more than $3 million worth of heroin last year. they're launching a new task force next month with agencies in surrounding counties. >> incredible how quickly it's spreading across the country. more breaking news this morning, an autopsy will be done to determine how a man involved in a domestic violence incident in indianapolis died in police custody. police took the man without incident tarnd -- around 9:00 thursday night. while in handcuffs, he complained about chest pains, he wound up dying though he was helped.

suspect was cooperative the whole time. today, 24-year-old kevin powell jr. expected inside a cumberland county courtroom accused of shooting his mother in the head. fayetteville police say he walked in to a salon and spa on arland avenue and shot his mom for some reason. at last check, she's in critical condition at unc hospital. we'll keep you updated right here. in atlanta, federal judge denied bond for accused serial jewelry thief, the 24-year-old abigail kemp is a danger to the community as well as a flight risk. kej is accused -- kemp is accused of carry out several robberies in several states, one in north carolina. one helping to free others misidentified in prison. christine mumma got a lot of hug from some of the men she's helped, possible disbarment

taking a bottle of water from a witness and having it tested for dna without that person knowing about it. now she said she got that bottle accidentally. the state bar only found her responsible for a privacy violation, the least serious of the five accusations she faced. her punishment is a written admonition and she will be able to keep practicing law. >> i'm just glad it's over, i really just wanted it to be over. it's interfered with my life, with my family's life. >> well the case that led to these proceedings was the case of joseph sledge, he's the man who spent 37 years behind bars for a double murder he did not commit. sledge was exonerated about a year ago. 5:36, thanks for waking up with us today, several events take place to honor martin luther king, jr. how you can get involved with celebrating the civil rights leader. plus, vice president joe biden joining the fight against cancer. still to come, wh off to it a cloudy start but

morning, we're off to a good start to our friday. satellite radar showing wet weather moving in from the southwest, area of low pressure that originated from the gulf of mexico, pushing in from the southwest as we head throughout this afternoon and in to this evening. so there is rain in the forecast, some of which may be on the heavier side at times after lunch time today. starting the morning off at 38 degrees in raleigh, it's 38 also in durham, 41 currently in roxboro, 31 in rocky mount, 33 in goldsboro, 30 in fayetteville. at the bus stop this morning, the kids do not need their umbrella but they need it this afternoon, bring it to school. steady rain arriving later with our high temperature today around 52 degrees. so we're dry through much of the morning after lunch time we start seeing a few showers rolling in, the heaviest stuff after about 1:00 or 2:00 this afternoon with our high temperature topping out around 52 degrees, temperatures falling to 48 by 6:00 this evening. we dry out in time for the weekend, but we've got rain and

cromwell court near raleigh, right around 11:00 last night. one person was home, but got out safely. suffered some minor injuries though. more breaking news this morning, raleigh police arresting two people accused of running a meth lab out of their home, arresting 28-year-old melissa godshall and 43-year-old robert kennerley at a home on huntly drive. police say they found a 1-year-old and a 7-year-old in the home at the time. some heated exchanges between donald trump and ted cruz at last night's republican presidential debate in south carolina. most of the participants focused the majority of the criticism towards democratic presidential hopeful hillary clinton, and president obama. indonesian police have arrested three men linked to yesterday's attacks in jakarta, during a raid at the suspects' homes in the capital. five men total attacked a starbucks cafe, and traffic police with hand made bombs, guns, and suicide belts killing two people. all the attackers were killed in the incident.

group has claimed responsibility for that crime. police say they found a flag of the islamic state group in one of the attacker's homes. japanese authorities say 14 people died in an overnight bus crash, 27 others were hurt. accident happened on a mountain road while the group headed to a ski resort. today, the duck boats will return to seattle, about four months after a deadly wreck there last september, a crash between a duck boat and a bus killed five people, injured dozens of other people, tours resumed today with some changes. the duck boats will no longer use the aurora bridge, that's where it happened. and the tours will now have two crew members on board instead of just one as it was before. today the obama administration's expected to announce a moratorium on any new major coal leases on federal lands. a comprehensive review is to be announced later today, the results will show whether the fees charged to mining companies provide a fair return to american taxpayers.

in the u.s. come from federal -- comes from federal lands. touring the site where tens of thousands of coal ash leaked in to the dan river, nearly two years ago. duke energy has started cleaning up the 3 million tons of ash stored on that site. right now loading coal ash in to train cars and shipping in to lined landfills in virginia. half the ash will be hauled away and the other half will be lined, capped, and stored on site. the state has given the utility until it 2019 to clean the dan river site up. duke says they're right on track. >> we've moved already more than 66,000 tons of coal ash, and exponentially with the rail in place. >> as for the coal ash stored, it's waiting for permits on the state before they start excavating. meanwhile the state is blaming the epa for the delays. wncn caught up with the state department of environmental quality who defended the governor as well as

some of that heavier rain will be pushing in to the area, a little bit later today. this is what's going to kind of bring us some of that wet weather this afternoon, this area of low pressure moving in from the gulf of mexico. 38 degrees outside in raleigh and durham right noud, 30 -- now, 30 in fayetteville, 30 rapids. this afternoon temperatures rising in the 50s, but wet weather holds off until avenue lunch time, showers with the heaviest string moving in this afternoon in to early this evening. this is all thanks to an area of low pressure moving from the southwest, rain likely, some of which will be heavy but it move in and out quickly. tomorrow, completely dry, partly cloudy skies, very warm, waiting for our next cold front to move in, that pushes in on sunday. as that front moves in, it will have colder air with it and a small chance for isolated showers, temperatus rear have a few wet snowflakes mixing in

the best chances for that, for folks who live north of i-85. a close eye on that but again, wet snowflakes mixing in with rain, no snow accumulation, things should be okay as we head in to sunday. friday your futurecast here showing that rain arriving after lunch time, the heaviest stuff in time for that evening drive home from work, so keep that in mind, could be slow getting home this evening with that rain around. we clear out by midnight. overnight the clouds move out, got a lot of sunshine in the forecast for tomorrow looking at a high of 52 in raleigh today, 51 durham, 58 degrees in fayetteville. tonight temperatures fall to about 50, showers and mostly cloudy, pretty mild night for us, dropping to about 50 degrees, tomorrow we're really warm, 58 for our high temperature tomorrow. we are up to 46 degrees on sunday, so cooler as we head in to our sunday here, behind that cold front again, chance for a few flakes maybe mixed in with some of those rain showers. we'll watch for that closely
