right now our wncn radar, it is dry, it is quiet, nothing major popping up currently in our area. if we zoom thinged -- things out a little bit, we do have wet weather pushing in from the southwest and eventually that makes its way in to our region. we'll see showers arriving as we head through this afternoon and this evening. current temperatures in the 30s and even low 40s out there right now so we're off to a cool start to our day. the kids need the umbrella at the bus stop, they'll need it for this afternoon, not this morning. mostly cloudy skies this morning with temperatures in the 30s and 40s, steady rain this afternoon, 52 our high temperature for today. and as you gear up for that morning drive, expect temperatures in the low 40s, but dry for that morning commute. let's take a look outside what you can expect on the roads. currently no major issue to report, i-85 and the durham freeway there, traffic moving smoothly in both directions, so things looking good out that way and as we head through this morning, we'll have more updates. let's take a look though at your

green out there, so no major issues to report, more weather and traffic coming up in just a few minutes. >> all right, kristin, thanks so much for that update. breaking news now, raleigh police have arrested two people and charged them with running a meth lab out of their home. >> that's right, now investigators arrested 28-year-old melissa godshall and 43-year-old robert kennerley, they made the arrest at their home on huntly. emma wright joins us with an update, what police found inside the home is disturbing to say the least. >> reporter: yeah, it really is. police say they found two young kids living in the home where the two were allegedly making meth, a neighbor tells wncn the community is usually family friendly and he says he's not happy to hear that someone was possibly making meth in the area. police were at the scene of this meth lab all night, raleigh police say they got a search warrant for 3217 huntly drive

kennerley and godshall facing charges, including manufacturing and trafficking meth, the kids, 1 and 7 taken to the hospital as a precaution. a neighbor says they're surprised to hear what happened. the two were renting the house and had recently moved in. >> the house had been vacant though for some while, and i know the people beside it, i thought they bought the home, they were remodeling, but obviously they did and i don't know who lived in it though. we don't want it in our neighborhood. if i seen it, i call the police in a heartbeat. >> reporter: police say this is an ongoing investigation, they hope to release more information later today, as for godshall and kennerley, they're both expected to make their court appearances later today. reporting live, i'm emma wright, wncn news. >> thank you, emma. and earlier this month, authorities arrested five people all in connection with running a meth lab at a wake county home in willow spring. three children there were taken from that home, they're now living with relatives.

for a person who rammed the durham police cruiser at the intersection of university drive and vickers avenue. the car was stolen and the driver would not stop for police. that's when he hit the police car with an officer inside of it, the officer not seriously hurt. also happening right now, a durham man facing charges after firing shots at a police officer during a foot chase saturday night. siren townsend was arrest and burlington by u.s. marshals, the shooting happened on selma avenue, they questioned him when he ran off, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and charges from 2014 and 2015. north carolina law enforcement officers may now have to think twice before using their tasers. the fourth sir skut court of -- circuit court of appeals restricted their use. officers are not allowed to use the tasers until smls -- unless someone is creating an immediate

>> if you look at the policy now, if that person is not a danger but yet will not comply, my concern is we're going to have to go hands on. >> the ruling came out in response to a lawsuit against police at the family of a pinehurst man filed, that man died after police tased him all in an attempt to get him to let go of a post. new this morning, overseas, just a day after the world health organization declared the ebola outbreak over, well there's been a positive test for the virus. ebola was just found in a woman's body in sierra leone, the victim had died earlier this month. an official says there's no cause for additional concern. ebola has killed over 1,000 people since it e-- 11,000 people since it emerged two years ago, most of those deaths in west africa. and decision 2016, gop fighting was front and center at last night's debate, facing off

donald trump and ted cruz faced off, they've been mostly friendly but last night the glove came out as they continued the birther battle. cruz was actually born in canada. well, they attacked each other. the candidates all shared a common favorite target. >> tuesday night, i watched story time with barack obama. >> this president is undermining the constitutional discussion of this government. >> he's missing the whole point. >> seven candidates on the stage, still a big gop primary field by historical standard but smaller than previous debates. meanwhile, democrat presidential candidate hillary clinton visited the tonight show, clinton admitted she sometimes watches the gop debates with her husband, former president bill clinton. conducting a mock job with clinton, asking her questions that come up in a typical interview. >> how'd you hear about the position? >> good friday morning, i'm meteorologist kristin ketchell we are off to a dry start cross the area -- across the area. temperatures warm in some spots, but you need the umbrella later on this afternoon. thog popping -- nothing popping up on the radar, currently but you'll notice area of low pressure pushing in that will bring us rain, some of that heavier as we move this afternoon and in to this evening. pretty wide range in temperatures this morning. currently reporting 41 degrees in raleigh, 35 in durham, 33 in fayetteville, in the 20s in some spots, but overall most of these temperatures warmer than we actually were yesterday. at the bus stop this morning, temperatures in the 30s to near 40 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. this afternoon though, the rain arrives, so expect steady rain when the kids get off the bus with the temperature at 52 degrees. we'll see the heaviest rain arriving after lunch time, 46

>> 6:13 on your friday, breaking news, raleigh police arrest two people accused of running a mekt lab in -- meth lab in their home, 28-year-old godshall and 43-year-old kennerley at their home arrested on huntly drive last night. police say they found a 1-year-old and a 7-year-old inside of the home at the time. also happening right now, fire crews in wake county are trying to figure out what started a late night house fire, firefighters responding to cromwell court in raleigh near 11:00 last night. one person was home but got out injuries. today, 24-year-old kevin powell jr. expected in a courtroom accused of shooting his own mother in the head, he walked in to the d'ambience salon and spa on ireland and shot her. at last check she was in critical condition. johnston county may soon be

some of which may be on the heavier side at times later on this afternoon and in to this evening. 41 in raleigh, 35 as we kick off the morning in durham, 35 roxboro, 33 fayetteville, 28 in pinehurst right now. temperatures all warming up to about 52 this afternoon. a little bit of a warm day for us here. we'll see clouds thickening up this morning, best chance for rain, that hold off until later today. lunch time, a chance for a few showers moving in but the steadest rain, the -- steadiest rain, the more widespread activity moves in after noon, 1:00 p.m., best chance of seeing rain and it continues through the evening drive. so keep that in mind as you leave work this evening, maybe a little slow going on some of those area roads. so we're watching for heavy rain possible today, mainly thrv and -- this afternoon and in to this evening thanks to low pressure moving in from the southwest, pushing to the northeast tomorrow. it's in and out very quickly. we're left with partly cloudy skies, a warm day for us with

meth lab out of their home. >> investigators arrested these two, 28-year-old melissa godshall and 43-year-old robert kennerley at their home. emma wright joins us with an update. we understand what police found inside, disturbing. >> reporter: it is, police say they found two young kids inside the house where those two were allegedly making meth. the neighbor tells wncn the area is family friendly and he says he was not happy to hear that someone was possibly making meth in his neighborhood. police spent much of the night investigating this meth lab, they said they got a search warrant for 3217 huntly on thursday, that's when they found the meth lab inside the house. both godshall and kennerley are facing several charges including manufacturing and trafficking meth. police say the two kids, ages 1 and 7 were taken to the hospital as a precaution. neighbors say they were surprised to hear what happened. they say the two were renting the house and had just moved in.

people that had lives ahead of them and ending up in the grave yard. >> nash county investigators seized more than $3 million worth of heroin last year. they're launching a new task force next month with agencies in surrounding counties. >> indonesian police arresting three people for sprouting a terrorist attack, no indication they were linked to the attack yesterday in jakarta, people killed in that attack, the five others who died were suspected attackers, 24 people also seriously injured in that attack. breaking news, an autopsy will be done to determine how a man involved in a domestic violence incident in indianapolis died in custody. the police took him in to custody at 9:00 last night, while the man was in handcuffs, he complained about chest pains, medics immediately helped but he died. no force was used and the suspect was very cooperative with officers.

powell jr. is expected inside a cumberland county courtroom accused of shooting his mother in the head. fayetteville police say he walked in to the d'ambience salon and spa and shot his mom, they don't know the reason. at last check, she was in critical condition at unc hospital. in atlanta, a federal judge denied bond for an accused serial jewelry thief, abigail kemp is a threat to the community and a risk, accused of carrying out several robberies in states, including one in april in mebane, none of the stolen jewelry recovered yet. a state bar hearing wrapped up for a lawyer who spent years helping to free innocent people from prison. [ applause ] christine mumma got lots of hugs from some of the men she's helped exonerate over the years. mumma faced possible disbarment after accusations of professional misconduct for

to mining companies provide a fair return to american taxpayers. roughly 40% of the coal produced in this country comes from federal land. wncn investigates toward the site where tens of thousands of coal ash leaked in to the dan river nearly two years ago. duke energy has started cleaning up the ash at that site, loading it in to train cars and shipping in to lined landfills in virginia. a spokesman says half of the ash will be hauled away, the other half lined and stored on site. the state has given the facility until 2019 to clean the dan river site up. duke says they're right on track. >> we've moved already more than 66,000 tons of coal ash here and expect to exponentially increase that with our rail system now in place. >> as for the coal ash stored in the ponds at the dan river site, duke says it's still waiting on permits from the state before they can start excavating. meanwhile the state is blaming the epa for the delays. wncn caught up with the state department of

the heaviest rain arriving after 1:00, 2:00 this afternoon. continuing through early this evening. so for your evening commute home, maybe a little messy on some of the area roads. keep this in mind. so our air predictor, our model showing we have wet weather moving in from the southwest, it is moving in and out quickly. partly cloudy and very, very warm tomorrow to start the weekend. but we will see a return of sunshine to the area, the rain is out of here quickly. our next cold front moves in the area on sunday and that is going to bring us the potential for maybe an isolated shower with the possibility of a few wet snowflakes mixing in. we're definitely going to keep a close eye on that, not a widespread snow event, a lot of buzz on social media about it. but it is just going to be a few wet snowflakes mixing in with some rain showers. today we've got plain old rain moving in to the area this afternoon and to this evening, the heavier stuff, deeper colors indicating heavier downpours moving in for your afternoon and evening drive home. keep that in mind, could be
