let's check in with kristin ketchell who is in for alisa this morning. and we have a chilly start. yes, a chilly start across the area. be prepared to scrape the frost off your windshield this morning. we have nothing popping up on the radar. a big change from yesterday. behind the rain and snow and the messy weather we experienced yesterday morning, the temperatures are colder. 28 in raleigh, 32 in durham and 30 in fayetteville and 27 in siler city. we had a cold front move through last night and that will bring us the coldest air that we have experiences so far this season and that is ushering cold air into the north into the area. overnight lows into the teens. so expect a frosty start to the morning and sunny and cold this

today will make things feel colder with our high temperature topping out around 35 degrees. i'll let you know when the warmer weather is coming up in the forecast. let's get a check on the morning dry. this is a live look at i40 and miami boulevard where the traffic volumes are picking up this morning. and the traffic is moving fine in both directions. and we don't have any major issues to report on any of your area rods this morning. if you're hitting the roads, we had some rain and snowfall yesterday and the roads were wet for a while. and on some of the side roads, they may have spots of black ice. but we're all green this morning and the live drive showing nothing in the way of issues and we'll have more weather and traffic coming up in a few minutes. right now the highway patrol is trying to track down a driver who hit three teenager and just kept going. two them dead and another one in critical condition. and justin quesinberry joins us live in the studio.

off to a chilly start. yes. a chilly start to the day. and we had rain and snow toned the day yesterday. and -- snow to end the day. nothing popping up in the way of wet or wintry precipitation. we're dry and quiet and cold. 28 degrees in raleigh and frost out there, that is a possibility. leave yourself an extra minute or two 32 the temperature in durham and 30 in rocky mount and goldsboro and sanford, the cold spot coming in at 24 degrees this morning. and we'll drop a couple of degrees before the sunrises. so expect and 8:00 a.m. temperature around 26, 28 degrees by 10:00 and up to 30 by lunchtime and the high only 35. so a chilly start to the week for us. and it is colder as we head through tonight and tomorrow as well. and the coldest air of the season, moving into the area today and tomorrow. and that is thanks to a cold front that moved through last night.

building behind the cold front that is ushering in the cold air as the north and northwest. so we'll see the sunshine that will look gorgeous. but the temperatures will look really cold. wednesday and thursday, we start to see the temperatures rising a little bit. and the area of high pressure still remains in control of our weekend. and temperatures in 40s. and we're talking low to mid- 40s and that is still cooler than normal. and the high slides out of the way on friday and the next disturbance moves in and we'll see the showers likely as the next system pushes through the area, depending on when the precipitation starts and ends. and we'll keep you updated on that for friday into saturday. and today, the high temperatures not getting out of the mid-30s for most of us. and 35 in raleigh and high of fayetteville. and tonight near single digits around ten degrees. and it will feel colder than that with the calm winds and
