another arctic blast into the state bringing temperatures we haven't seen in nearly a year. thanks for joining us. these cold temperatures are setting the stage possibly for snow. morning, wes? >> reporter: last february we were down to 7 degrees. as you can see outside the 20s. but as you wake up tomorrow morning as we take a closer look you can see windchills

it could be light winds. they could leave us with windchills in the single digits. it is 16 in rocky mount. they will remain that way over night. as you step out the door leading to work, 15 degrees, which subtract 5 degrees to get your windchill, up to 16 at 8:00 a.m., 20 at 9:00 a.m. some of us may not get above freezing. it will be the coldest morning and day. it will set the stage for two possible chances for snow. one could be a bigger one. flurries wednesday. >> all right. whether it is snow or rain or bitter cold, take the weather with you on the go. if you download the wncn news app it is free for apple or android devices.

suspect in a deadly shooting. police need your help. carly is in efflin to explain. >> reporter: deputied responded to the community center. they have worked the crime scene for several hours. never in trouble. this was not a random crime. charles blackwood says deputies were called to the efflin community center. a car had the trunk open with a man lying dead next to it with gun shot wounds. >> we are continuing our investigation. school. the school. holiday.

the victims went to the hospital with injuries. if you know anything call crimestoppers. there is a murder suicide after an elderly man and woman were found on chelsea drive. police found the man dead inside and the woman died early this morning. they have not released the identity of the pair. army veteran months away from retirement was killed saturday night by a driver going the wrong way. it left a large void in the 261st medical battalion. >> we lost a great member dead. it is devastating to our organization, brigade, our battalion. we are grateful for the service.

we add in the excitement of flurries and a winter storm moving up the east coast. could bring us rain and snow. 24-degrees in rally. that is still filtering in. that's why we will be in the teens tomorrow morning. the record low is 2. thankfully it is not that. 15 is cold enough. temperature over windchill taking you hour by hour. plenty of sunshine. sunshine in winter does nothing to warm us up. 33 for a high. windchill even though winds are 5 to 7. windchill not over 25. high pressure building in. that will be right on top of us tonight.

and high pressure moves in behind it that second night, that's usually the coldest. that's tonight. not a lot to talk about other than the temperatures. i will speed through the day quickly. i have something interesting. tuesday night into wednesday morning we start to bring clouds in. wednesday morning a little bit of snow moves up into the mountains. could be a more than a little bit by the afternoon wednesday. when we are still dry but cloudy, watch what happens. dry atmosphere. it starts to evaporate and dissipate. some of it wednesday night will be in the form of flurries or light rain.

excitement. thursday morning we are back to dry and cold weather. friday an area of low pressure will move up the east coast and is somewhere colliding with cold air bringing someone snow. it is too early to say where that rain snow line will be. looks like we will have a mainly cold rain event with snow staying to the north. but it's monday. this is friday. this is a classic winter weather system. someone will get a lot of snow, probably not us. it is a busy weather week. we have the snow and the coldest temperatures since february coming tomorrow morning. we have snow flurries with little to no impact. then a bigger winter storm system friday with rain and snow. we will iron out the details in the coming days.
