ocean management, a federal agency that has gotten permit applications to do seismic surveying in the atlantic. >> the economic potential this can bring and environmental consequences and the impact. >> reporter: long before the companies could drill in the atlantic, there would be seismic testing done and sending sound of waves in the ocean floor. should offshore drilling happen, the american petroleum institute said it could mean billions to the north carolina economy and tens of thousands of new job. >> let's get the data in and see what the seismic testing says and where the resources might be. >> reporter: but more than two dozen north carolina coastal communities feel otherwise. they oppose offshore drill. >> there's no economic benefit that can touch the tourism and what the pristine environment brings to the community.

have another cold night on the way tonight and for more on exactly what you can expect, let's turn things over to wes. a colder morning tomorrow morning than what we had today and i think we can all degree we are like batteries, we feel 35% weaker with this cold air. st. louis is getting snow. they're probably having a rough evening commute and that is the snow that is going to be in our backyard by tomorrow night at this time. it is going to be a fraction of what i just showed you. but some snow is possible in about 24 hours had. and tonight, beautiful sunset and it is down and the temperatures are about to go down, not that they were ever up today. an hour by hour into the evening, we're going to keep it dry and we're going keep it clear till the early morning hours when we'll start to see the clouds move in and the

our possible snow tomorrow night. temperatures, 25 at 6:00 and down 22 at 10:00 and we got temperature with windchills. the winds are light, just a 5- mile-an-hour winds can drop to the windchill in the teens. but they are going back into the teens. after starting this morning at 18, tomorrow mornink 16 degrees. as we look at the big picture, a couple things stick out. high pressure still on top of us. and that is keeping us cold and dry that is good and not good. the cold is getting our roads and grass and the sidewalks cold. so any a little bit of snow that we get tomorrow will probably stick right away and that that could lead to some slick spots but it is very dry. so all of this snow here that will be on top of us tomorrow, a lot of it will fall apart and evacuate, not all of it, just most of it and let's pick up the weather map tomorrow. we'll have a few clouds early

up. here we are at lunchtime tomorrow and as it starts to come across the mountains, it will fall apart. 4:00, we're still dry here. as this continues to fall apart and as we go into 5:00 and 6:00, we could see a little bit of light snow, maybe some flurries and it could lead to a dusting and some slick spots on the road and out of here by 8:00 so it will be a light event and minor and short lived but it could cause just a couple slick spots and it takes one to make your evening commute not so good. so that is what we're watching out for tomorrow. and we get into thursday and it will be a calm day. so tomorrow we're talking 4:00 and 9:00 and light snow and flurries and a minor event. but we'll watch out for slick spots on the evening commute. and i don't think it will have any impact on the length of the school day tomorrow and the bigger event looking to be on friday. and area of low pressure bringing a decent amount of cold rain to us. and we could have a wintry mix

morning tomorrow morning and then the light snow tomorrow night. but that friday storm, a bigger impact bringing mostly cold rain and some of it could be heavy on friday. but a wintry mix friday morning for the commute could be rough and saturday morning ending as some snow could cause some problems. but tomorrow morning, you walk out the door with these temperatures in the mid-teens and that will be the coldest morning the rest of this week and we'll be warmer but a high today was 32. so warmer, 36, 37 degrees and it will not be warm. 45 on thursday. and then there's our mess on friday, still a lot of details to be worked out with friday's weather. and it could start early friday morning and end early saturday morning and the end of the weekend, we got sunshine as we start to warm back up. so the three degree guarantee high tomorrow 37. today we only made 32 but we forecast 33.
