to the northeast of us. as we look at the overnight lows not so okay. low 20s to mid-20s with clearing skies. it will clear out tonight, that will put a hard freeze. any water on the roadway will freeze overnight. look for icy road. this is your futurecast not showing any clouds. if you like that that will be some good melting. look at this, it is 6:00. we will be get ready to refreeze again. that means bad news. we will have another black ice advisory. once again, the roadways not best to drive. even though the precipitation is

we have a miniwarm upcoming up next week. >> let's go ahead and look at some of the roadways. this is a live look in durham. you can see a shine on the roadway. that could be icy, slippery areas. and wncn team coverage continues. here is an update. >> reporter: it was day two of this triple threat. snow, ice, and sleet making a mess. trees were no match for that heavy ice. this one blocked vandor spring in garner. >> it's been okay but in the black streets it is a solid sheet of ice.

the emergency response team has been activated. they have been meeting with fema every 12 hours. we were the only media there. >> training in the right direction. >> reporter: the state highway department said they responded to more than 2,000 accidents. the d.o.t. tells us they have 2200 workers. they still haven't been able to get to the secondary roads. >> we just want to make sure people stay off the roads if they don't have to be out there. i just described to the team in there that today was a great day today because there were no weather related motor vehicle fatalities.

wncn caught up with benjamin patterson as he cleared area parking lots. >> if you don't move it it will stay there a couple of days. we are just trying to get in and clear it while we can. thousands of power outages are plaguing folks across the state. more than 20,000 people in wake county and 15,000 in johnston out. wncn justin spoke with a family there who's power went out last night. >> it is crazy. you take the little things for granted. it is tough. >> reporter: donald loss electricity around 6:00. he borrowed a generator to power

>> we just hooked it up now. i got a freezer and stuff like that. we got a neighbor get heat off that too. >> reporter: he lives off 581 where ice and trees brought five utility poles. duke engineer had a crew to restore power to the 500 to the thousand customers impacted. >> i appreciate they do that. four to five poles are down. >> reporter: it could take about six hours to clean this up and restore power here. but statewide it could be monday evening before people could have electricity again. >> it is a multi day event. restoration could go over the next couple of days.

do have. i know we will be back up and not thinking about it in the year or two. a good samaritan shot while trying to help a driver stuck in the snow has been identified as the father of a baby boy. a driver spun out friday night. that's when the sheriff jefferson and others went to help the man. when he started to call the police the driver 27-year-old marvin lee allegedly shooting and striking him. lee has been charged with murder. nothing could keep duke and nc state fans in raleigh today including the governor. >> an update on the storm in the area. >> skies have been cloudy, but

best of the blizzard up north. snow enthusiast slid down. philadelphia has received more than 18 inches of snow. add more than two feet in some areas around the city. the blizzard couldn't keep this guy of popping the question. jason proposed to his girlfriend. she said yes and they were embraced by both of their families who both travelled about an hour south in the snow to see what happened. >> we have been dating for three and a half years. >> yep. >> i just decided it was time to take the next step. >> congratulations to them. no word whether their wedding will be in the summer or in the winter. many people do not long forward to shovelling the snow. take a look at that. he went out and grabbed his hoverboard.

the storm continues to wind around and move up towards the northeast. we will get some clearing skies. there are some clearing skies and parts of the western part of our state. that will roll in as we go through the overnight hours. the precipitation is still coming down in new york and up into the cape code area leaving washington finally after all of their snow. of course, we showed you that video in philadelphia. they are still getting snow. that snow is moving away. there are couple flurries in halifax county. 29 degrees. windchill still 19. winds will die down a little bit. feel like teens early in the morning. we are below freezing in the morning. we get to 34 in the noon. a high of 39 degrees. the key here i got to windchill at 6:00 tonight. in other words i'm anticipating calm conditions by late tomorrow

that will allow the temperature to sink again into monday morning. look at the sunshine expected for tomorrow. tomorrow night with a high close by light winds. another cold night. expect that black ice advisory. mostly sunny skies on monday. warmer in the 40s and then as we head into tuesday we will pick up partly sunny skies. you see most of the precipitation still out to the west. this front will come through on wednesday. that will be our best chance. our next weather maker per se to get us some precipitation. sunny and cold. 41 in fayetteville. we will go 39 in rocky mount. 42 in clinton.

boy those side roads, the toughest is trying to get out of your neighborhood. the best is to stay in. 85 should be fine if you are going tomorrow afternoon. watch out for black ice when you are heading home after the panthers play the cardinals. good weather for football. the weather shouldn't affect the outcome of the game. i hear their field is dicey. as we look tomorrow, once again windchill 23. we get above freezing. we will get melting on. 5:00, 33. we will go back below freezing. however, if we are down to 21 and we don't get everything melted there will probably be delays at the bus stop on monday.
