>> and i'm stefan chase. we begin with more school closings and delays today. some or closed and others operating on a three-hour delay and moore county is under a two- hour delay. let's go to meteorologist alyssa corfont. i heard the 60. that opened my eyes. here's a live picture from the satellite radar. not a lot going on in central north carolina. you do not have to heads far west and you can see the sprinkles into the mountains of north carolina and tennessee this morning. this is ahead of our next cold front. and the cold front does not arrive till tomorrow. that is when the majority of us will see the chance for rain to move in. and 36 in raleigh and louisburg and also in the mid-30s in henderson and at freezing in roxboro and roanoke rapids.

that means that the black ice is still on some of the roads. 27 in sanford this morning. that is very cold. lee county 34 and 34 in littleton. 36 and patchy black ice at 8:00 a.m. and 52 at noon and afternoon high of 58. warmer than yesterday. going to be a really nice afternoon for this time of year. normal is actually around 52. so above that mark by several degrees and we'll be at 52 by 6:00 p.m. this evening. drive home. more on your forecast and when most of us will need the umbrella coming up in a little bit. traffic. it is early on this tuesday morning. this is i540 and six mornings road and we're starting to see a few more cars out in this direction. but no delays or slow downs to report. i want to check in with some of your drive times.

this is a little slower at the posted speed limit. i40, no trouble spots and 401 that is causing a little slowdown. about a 20 minute drive from the apex area. more on traffic and weather in about ten minutes. the winter weather may have hit days ago but its affects are still hanging around in parts of the viewing area. >> and icy roads are some schools are canceled or delayed this morning. and emma wright has been riding around the past couple days looking at conditions. how is it looking now, emma? >> reporter: it is a little icy here and there. and we're in wake forest where there's a water main break on 98. we'll show you some video of what it looked like yesterday when the schools decided they classes. you can see some really thick ice and snow still there on some of the back roads that is what made the schools really classes today.

that means that everything that starts at the normal time starts three hours later. and they say that school will end on time and all activities are going to resume as normal. and we talked with some parents and they say that the schools made the calls that they did and they don't want to be out driving in dangerous conditions. >> we did not have anybody to float the streets or anything like that. so we basically had to wait for the ice melted. i didn't move the car till yesterday. and then i didn't go that far, coming out from my subdivision to the other roads is still icy. >> reporter: we just got an update from the wake county schools this morning. and they said they were out at 3:00 this morning assessing the roads and they are still sticking with three hour delay and they have crews removing the ice and snow from the parking lots from the area schools to get them ready for

the system did go down around 10:00 last night. we don't know what caused the problem. happening right now an investigation is underway after a dog attack in robertson attack killed a 7-year-old boy. you may find some of the details disturbing. he and three of their siblings were playing behind their home in lumberton and the three dogs came running after them. and his brother just a momentped on a near car but his younger brother could not get away. one of the dogs, a pit-bull tackled the little boy. >> it doesn't feel fair at all. i left the hospital last night, i didn't get a chance to hold my baby. >> so devastating. and the property owner did not want to speak to us on camera. he thinks that the kids aggravated the dogs somehow. and the pit-bull died on the sign from overexcitement.

told by dss they cannot have any unsupervised visits with the children during the investigation. a suspect is in the hospital accused of opening fire outside of a gastonia mall. the police said that 19-year- old jamaal hill was involved in stealing a car and the officers were closing in and he took off firing a shot and he eventually jumped off a 25-foot retaining wall and seriously hurt before he was finally caught. no one else injured. the department of public health is investigating and inmate death at the durham county detention facility. 29-year-old matthew mccain was found unresponsive in inside of his -- jail cell last week. the department of public health said it will review sick call requests. and sheriff's office tells us that there will be no staffing changes or disciplinary actions related to mccain's death yet. the search is on for the

it is 36 degrees here in raleigh. and we're tracking the next weather maker and it is in the form of a cold front. it is responsible from this broken line of showers from cleveland, ohio into portions of kentucky and tennessee into mississippi this morning. and the cold front moves through tomorrow. and the temperatures warm for this time of year. right now it is 36 in raleigh, louisburg. so not a huge threat of the secondary roads. but some neighborhoods are on the icy side. lee county and sanford, 27 degrees and clayton 28. more of you will see the icy roadways in those directions. so be on the lookout if the roads are shining, that is likely black ice.

here in raleigh through durham, mid-30s above freezing. and there's still some neighborhoods that have patchy ice on t but for the most part, they are looking a lot better than they were 24 hours ago. sanford, you're at 26 through the portions of lee county and also in portions of johnston county. so those areas, anything that is shining, treat as ice because it could be black ice. let's get to your hourly forecast. 38 at 8:00 a.m. and into the 40s by 10:00 and 50s at lunchtime and 52 at 12 and 55 at 2:00. and the high 58. that is warmer than where we should be for this time of year. we'll still be in the 50s for the evening drive home around 6:00 p.m. so we're ahead of the cold front today. we're calling it partly cloudy skies and warm for this time of year. close to sunset, that is going to be the cloudiest time frame through the day. overnight, the clouds continue

tomorrow a public hearing will take place in new york to temporarily turning niagra falls to a trickle to replace a 115-year-old bridge. two pedestrian bridges that connect the mainland to the island need to be replaced. in order to do that, they have to reduce the flow on the united states side by building a temporary structure to push the water to the canadian side. need stuff. a bloodhound in alabama sniffed her way to the finish line of a half marathon. >> she didn't even train. she call her lazy. and she escaped from her backyard and took her place at the starting line and she led the pack for a little while and acrossed the finish line in 7th place of a time of 1 hour 32 minutes. the organizers said that next
