more melting ? >> yeah, and also tracking the shower across greenville, across portions of person county, the chance for rain, some of the roads start to get sloppy. let's talk it temperatures, 51 right now in raleigh. yeah, i'm not making this up. very mild. 45 in durham, mid 40s in henderson, louisburg and rocky mount, fayetteville and lillington, sanford you're the chilly spot at 37. let's get to your forecast. yeah, look at that. the temperature right now are actually warmer than where i'm expecting us to be later this afternoon. around 46 with showers possible at 8:00 a.m. 47 at noon, 48 our afternoon high. then we're back in to the low 40s. the rain ending by 6:00 p.m. we'll get to more of your forecast in just a little bit. but let's check in with traffic, getting ready to hit the roads, i-40 and rock quarry road, just

pretty empty if you have to hit the streets early on this wednesday. let's check in with live drive conditions in the good news, because you're all in the green. i-40 south of the city, looking good. if you're travelling this morning, i'll keep you up to date on traffic and weather through the rest of the morning. stefan? >> thanks, alyssa. breaking news to get to, police in seattle are searching for two people in connection of a deadly shooting at a homeless camp. police call it very targeted. so far authorities have not made any arrests. seattle's mayor has been under a lot of pressure to deal with the homeless problem in the city. he called last night's shooting a tragedy but says now is not the time to point fingers. breaking news in oregon where the occupation of federal land ended. one of the occupier is dead after a traffic stop by police. it sparked a shootout between

and others seized a wildlife refuge on january 2 as part ave long running dispute over public lands. unclear if anyone is holed up, as this story continues to develop, we'll bring you the latest. the first major snowstorm of the year, some schools operating on a two hour delay. >> durham schools are looking to clear eyes from the back roads. emma wright joins us live from the mobile news tracker with an update how things are looking. emma? >> reporter: so we're dropping around durham county and we are seeing sxhoe ice -- snow and ice on the roads, mot too much. we'll show you where in one of the subdivisions, there's snow and slush, ems right here -- especially right here in the intersections. that's where we're seeing the most of it. the primary roads in durham county, those are fine. i hi that -- think that warm weather and the sun we saw, that really helped melt that. these back roads shaded with a

district. that being stubborn. >> yeah, yesterday was 61, it felt so good, that's why wake county school are heading back on time. we'll continue to follow the unseasonably warm temperatures, see them return, i should say today. we're going to be a little cooler than where we were yesterday. right now, 51 degrees. this is the warmest it's going to be day long. the temperatures are going to be cooler, our wncn tower cam, our look over the beltline where not a lot is going on this wednesday morning. let's talk about our composite, cloudy, band of rain across greensboro and through the charlotte area. now let me bring you closer to home, the only areas here in central north carolina, seeing that rain reach the ground, person county, roxboro, seeing light rain. but again, remember, some of those schools on a one hour delay this morning. let's get to the temperatures, 51 in raleigh. temperatures will be dropping though before sunrise, 45 in

breaking news this side of the pacific northwest in seattle, they're searching for two people in connection with daidly -- deadly shooting at a homeless camp, authorities say it was very targeted. the leaders of an armed group at occupy national wildlife refuge in oregon are under arrest, bundy under arrest. officers shot and killed one person involved. now to decision 2016. republican presidential hopeful donald trump just announced he is skipping the last scheduled gop debate before the iowa caucuses february 1. detect bait hosted by fox news -- the debate hosted by fox news is set to be tomorrow, he's been critical of fox in the past and

killing four in a drunk driving accident, saying the affluent lifestyle didn't help him know right from wrong. an elementary school principal killed and two other students hurt when a bus suddenly jumped a curb and came barrelling towards at this time students and that principal who were standing on a sidewalk. 25 students were inside the bus, but they were not hurt. police say the principal pushed other students out of the way when the bus started barreling towards them. investigators are still trying to figure out at this hour exactly what happened but they don't believe drugs or alcohol were involved. the female bus driver was interviewed on the scene and told police she didn't know why the bus accelerated. people from dc to massachusetts are still digging out of the deep snow. >> that's right, it was left behind from the big blizzard. the snow dumped more than two feet of snow in washington dc, closing schools and the federal government. outside of philadelphia, cars

even then extending south towards the charlotte area this morning. let me bring you in closer to home, it still dry around the sand hills, just starting to inch in towards portions of person county, northern portions of orange county, hillsborough, dealing with this light rain shortly. and that's all it is, very light, not everyone is going to see it. but if you want my best advice, take the umbrella with you today because showers will be scattered, at least through that first half of our day. here's what i'm thinking, we'll drop to 45 by 8:00 a.m., climb to 47 by noon. our high 48 again the best chance for showers earlier today. they're going to start to see the temperatures drop earlier than what we typically do. right around 43 by 6:00 p.m. this evening. your future futurecast going to to show you the chance for rain, very scattered in nature. all of us will be dealing with cloudy skies. that's why it's stits still going -- still going to be pretty gray, most of us will be

-- peek or two of sunset. towards day break, maybe a few sprinkles. but overall i think the best chance for rain on thursday is going to roll through after lunch time. you'll see here at lunch time on thursday, we're still dry, still rather cloudy then here come the showers and it really is going to be around raleigh and east that we're dealing with the best chance for rain. so if you're watching us in person county, yeah, you're waking up to showers this morning. i think you'll be dry though tomorrow. so, temperatures right now 51 in raleigh, 48 louisburg, mid 40s around henderson, south hill and is roanoke rapids, here's today's forecast, high 48 in raleigh, 47 durham and 51 fayetteville. overnight tonight then we're going to drop in to the low 30s, the rain moves out momentarily, colder temperatures move in again temperatures close to freezing. as we head in the coming days, 48 on our thursday, 51 on friday, and i promised a beautiful weekend ahead.

but a few of them are defying >> welcome back, 4:55. today new york state officials are set to determine whether they'll turn the raging waters of niagara falls in to just a trickle. at a public hearing, officials will discuss plans to replace 115-year-old bridges linking the mainland to islands near the brink of the falls. now the two concrete arch bridges provide walking access to goat island, very popular place. replacing the bridges will mean reducing the flow on the american side and redirecting the niagara river to the canadian side. a big development project in
