pulled members from the group during a traffic stop. one person was shot and killed. eight others taken into custody including the group's leader ammon bundy. they've occupied the area for nearly a month. members of the military today have the chance to meet with potential employers. the annual recruit military job fair is being held at cart the -- live at the stadium. emma has more. >> reporter: this brings hundreds of people and dozens of employers together. vets say they've had success here. we'll show you video of one of the previous career fairs. last year more man 40 companies were set up in the vaughn towers. recruit military, that's the company that is putting this on expects companies like home

city of raleigh. we talked to veterans of previous fairs, they say career fairs like this help. >> they want that college degree, or some kind of college degree. i tried to explain, you want somebody read a book for two years? i did it four years and got shot while i did it. >> reporter: recruit military resuggests you preregister and bring your resume. to developments in the case of a duke student taken to the hospital following a rush event at a sorority. duke university abruptly suspended all sorority activities yesterday. it came after they say a female student had too much to drink. the university is meeting with the 18 different sororities.

recent immigration rates. protesters held a vigil and tried to call attention to how they feel. the raids are tearing families apart. earlier this month u.s. immigration and customs enforcement arrested more than 100 people during those raids. the people were undocumented immigrants, primarily from north carolina, georgia and texas. the homeland security secretary jay johnson says it's part of a broader strategy to deal with illegal immigration. people last night are concerned about kids being separated from families and their safety back in their home countries. >> it's always like a constant fear. this takes a psychological toll. since i was a kid i had mistrust of the police because every time i saw a police car i automatically feared i would be separated from my parents. >> jay johnson says the raids shouldn't have come as a surprise. he says these kinds of

they are warranted. the future of a csx transportation hub project is up in the air. on tuesday the governor released a statement saying the current proposed site was no longer a viable option but it's still not a guarantee because csx officials have said they are still committed to moving the project forward even at this current sticking point. land owners say they hope they can keep their farms and businesses regardless of where the project goes from here. >> people that voiced their support on day one just assumed this big project had been monday to, that the land had been acquired and everything had been done. >> csx says it looks forward to addressing major concerns. at this point still unclear where or if the project will actually move forward. tonight another public workshop will the future of rdu international airport will take place in raleigh. the first workshop was last night in durham on the 2040 master plan, it includes ways

exploded. welcome back. closing in on 4:45. the aspca will begin to remove animals from a shelter in hope county. >> it took place at the haven animal rescue shelter, where more than 600 animals were found living in what authorities call deplorable conditions. the owners were charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty. the shelter operated without a license for 0 -- 10 years. we have a picture of the markethouse in fayetteville.

mild for this time of year. here's the big picture, we're tracking cloudy skies, even a few showers for some of you. if you're waking up around the sand hills i'm looking at you for seeing rain now. let come in closer to our area. you can see just a little green, very isolated in nature. spotting across -- looks like spring lake, northern portions of cumberland county to rayford. pinehurst appeared to be on the dry side, just south of moore county seeing showers this morning, around 401. all that will continue, isolated in nature this morning you about i think a more distinct area of showers develop into the afternoon. just isolated showers this morning, around 35 at 8:00 a.m. 41 at noon. 46 our afternoon high and when we're reaching that afternoon high, say 3:00, 4:00 later today that is when that best chance of rain is going to start to develop. mainly south and east of the triangle. we'll fall back to 42 by 6:00 p.m.

the evening drive home. so just a few isolated showers this morning. most of us dry around lunchtime. then we head into the afternoon hours. this area of showers is what i'm watching for. could easily wobble a little more westerly which means more cumberland county would see rain, more of the 95 corridor would see rain. if you're traveling to the coast today certainly a good chance of rain around wilmington up towards the outer banks. the good news for us, most of this, if it's falling in our area will be gone by midnight at the latest. the skies are going to clear pretty quickly as we head into friday morning. plenty of sunshine on tap for friday. if you don't like the chill, don't worry, the sunshine is going to warm us up tomorrow and for the weekend ahead. today we stay cooler than normal, 46. 51 our high tomorrow. then 55 saturday but look at sunday and early next week, 62 on sunday. 66 by monday afternoon. right now temperatures far from

furry friend, e-mail your welcome back. 30 years ago today challenger exploded 30 seconds after liftoff. all on boaoa died including christa mcauliffe. she was set to be the first teacher ever in space. in honor of those men and women and others who lost their lives on the job, january 28th is the nasa day of remembrance. senior officials will participate in a wreath laying ceremony at arlington national cemetery. later in the day other nasa centers will hold remembrance events as well. a raleigh man who beat stage 4 cancer is now headed to super bowl 50 to hopefully see the carolina panthers beat the broncos. grant lefoon is getting an all expense paid trip to the bay area to watch his team play.

your bucket list foundation. it's a nonprofit that grants wishes to adults with cancer. he says he's taking his mom with him because she dropped everything in her life to take care of him when he was first diagnosed. >> i was speechless at a first and told my mom about it. hasn't told her yet that she was going with me. it was fun to keep it a secret. >> got to take mama. the foundation was about to spend thousands of dollars on super bowl tickets but the other day someone donated tickets to help fulfill grant's wish. a fatherly company is getting a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a big part of the game behind the scenes. cbs hired filmworks in rocky point to help with lighting, setting up mobile studios and also power at the site. >> we have a crew already, i
