nearly 3 years after she was found murdered in her north hills apartment the man accused of killing jones willing before a jury. the 23-year old murdered the mom of two in her own bed. police say jones had recently moved to raleigh with her daughter from tennessee. on the morning of may 14th, 2013, police say the then 8-year old girl left the apartment, approached a construction crew. they followed her back and found jones's body laying in bed covered with blood. neighbors told us what happened was shocking. >> it was really surprising. i mean, you don't hear about crime so close to home. >> police say smith had help from two people. one pleaded guilty to first degree murder in 2015 and may testify against smith. redden is also charged in the case. prosecutors say she served as the get away driver was anthony and smith

to begin in the murder trial of a raleigh mom. she was found dead in her apartment in 2013. happening right now two men behind bars accused of opening fire. it happened friday night. police say three teenagers all under the aiming of 16 were shot. the home he beer says she was throwing a birthday party for her 14-year old at the time. a fayetteville man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after pleading guilty to murder charges. legrand appeared before a judge yesterday. prosecutors say he killed three people and wounded two others back in 2011. right now these two durham men free man earl junior behind bars. it happened just before 5 at a home yesterday morning.

yesterday we were talking about the first cold front moving through, that's now off to our south but we're really watching this storm system back to our west. it could actually spark some tornados later today across the gulf states. this powerful cold front is going to move through our area as we head towards tomorrow, and, yes, i do think there's the chance that we could see some storms of our own. let's talk about the next 48 hours. for the most part cloudy skies from start to finish today. those clouds hang around overnight tonight and we should start off our wednesday dry, but cloudy. you'll notice that line of showers at 8 a.m. back to our west falling through the mountains. lunchtime the rain really starting to move into our area and the afternoon hours is when we start are to focus on the threat for some storms. they're going to be isolated in nature but the threat is high enough that we're
