good morning to you at home. we are watching it line of storms approach the area for this afternoon and evening. right now tracking light rain into central north carolina. all in all just as we expected so far, 66 at noon, 70 afternoon high. much warmer than yesterday. dropping back to the mid-60s. the best chance for stormy weather will be when you hit the road heading for home this evening. this is a dark camera but i want to show you the time lapse. we started with clear skies around 5 am and the fog built into the area dropping visibility. now the fog has lifted out of the area as we head into the afternoon. cloudy skies will continue in central north carolina. i mentioned a band of showers and storms making their way here for the late afternoon and evening. does moving across the mountains and a perch in charlotte. ahead of that light rain following for some of us.

and now headed back. we are on 40 now things are looking good. over the past 30 minutes that we have been on the road we have seen this guy start to darken. the dark clouds seem to be headed towards the durum area and raleigh looks clear. as we were headed towards durum around south point, we could see sprinkles. nothing significant. something you probably want to keep in mind if you are headed out in the next few minutes. not so much rain we're seeing that we have seen strong gust of wind and enough where it blows the car around. we are in a jeep so there is significant wind if you can feel the car moving back and forth. all in all roads looking good and dry. nothing too big yet but give yourself a few extra minutes headed out this afternoon.

as we mentioned earlier that same storm system did a number on state throughout the deep south. families along the mississippi alabama border ducking for cover after a string of tornadoes came in on tuesday. trees were uprooted and homes and buildings ripped apart and power lines downed. neighbors in collinsville mississippi say they reacted the moment they realized they were in danger. >> i took off running until my son to get inside and we crawled under a desk and started praying. >> despite the damage emergency officials say no one was seriously injured. leaders in collinsville plan to request the community be declared a disaster area. this morning in cary, a 17- year-old faces felony charges over hacking incident. a student could face up to 4

nicole lovell was taken from her home and her body was discovered near the virginia border. natalie keepers was charge along with david eisenhauer with getting rid of the body. the 19-year-old was more involved before the girl died. she has been charged as an accessory before the fact. authorities say nicole had been stabbed to death and believe social media maybe the connection between the girl and the students. >> nicole touched many people throughout her short-lived. >> the seventh grader was active on twitter and facebook and the forms called teen dating and flirting. the night that she disappeared nicole showed a text from an 18-year- old man she was planning to meet. the state department of transportation will not include the controversial red route as part of its plan to finish the 540 loop. an alternate route will be recommended to federal and

video to the sheriff's department. the man who had the gun city had a concealed weapon permit. convicted killer who made a daring prison break finds out his sense today. david sweat estate in june 2015 and spent 22 days on the run along with fellow inmate richard matt. richard matt was shot and killed . sweat was captured a few days later. sweat pleaded guilty to charges. he was already serving life for a murder conviction and the judge added an additional 7 to 14 years and $79,000 in restitution. world will entertain -- will bill cosby stand trial on assault charges. that is a question a judge will answer as hearings in a 12-year- old case continue today. cosby has been charged with three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault. prosecutors say he dried and assaulted a woman at his home in 2004.

brazil. olympic organizing committee is really worried about the quick spread of the zika virus. the summer games have not seen evidence of people canceling plans to attend in august. still the brazilian government is recommending pregnant women stay away until the outbreak can be contained. the point is making sure that we win the battle against the mosquito. and making sure that people already infected especially the women and the kids, if they when affected get the best assistance. we have to focus on the big picture. >> the world health organization called the zika virus and international health emergency that could affect 4 million people in the americas. monday we should you have officials in colombia were distributing condoms to keep zika virus from spreading. the first case of the zika virus contracted in the united

wake county into hardeman county. let me show you the big picture. there is more headed our way. showers and storms moving out of the mountains approaching charlotte. they are not far from us. the showers start to pick up around lunchtime and after 3:00 i think the storm threat is going to climb. this is a cold front to the west and this is the perfect recipe for storms and even severe ones. cold front will sweep through later today so unseasonably warm air and moving into central north carolina very moist as well. the storms having juice to develop. at 12:00 we will see a few showers. here we are 3:00. it is not until after that that the storms move through. 6:00, many heading home and that is when the storms could be moving over the triangle. picture you have a way to get
