mixing in with some of that rain. it's all part of the coastal low pressure system which will push to the northeast today, and before it leaves the area it will be left with eight chance of that wintry mix. south and east of the triangle, and it could be a dusting on grassy surfaces which will cause minimal impacts on the roads. the precipitation does and fairly quickly this afternoon and into tonight. it will be back with a complete check on your forecast and i'll let you know what to expect for your week ahead. >> sounds like a nice day to stay inside and watch some football. we are nearly 12 hours away from super bowl 50 and already, cam newton is what earning some new accolades. >> the 2015 most viable player

southern johnston county as well. and around fayetteville, a rain snow mix going on also. this coastal low pressure center will impact us this morning through this afternoon before he pulls out to the northeast, and it will take the wet and wintry weather with it. the tricky thing is the temperatures. most temperatures around the area are above freezing so we are not seeing pure snow falling, we are seeing the mix in lots of location. 36 in rocky mount, 36 and clinton and 37 in fayetteville. some of the area's where we are seeing that wintry precipitation mixed in with rain. in the triangle, temperatures are in the upper 30's. and we are colder to the north but i do think we will stay dry and some spots today. our best chance for seeing any type of wet or wintry weather will be this morning through this afternoon before we actually dry out tonight.

the low 40s, about 42 degrees this afternoon. because the temperature will stay above freezing, we won't see any of your snowfall. pure snow fall. we have this messy mix or some of us this morning. so that is rain, snow and sleet, especially folks to the east and south of raleigh. that will continue thanks to this area of low pressure sitting offshore. the system will move to the northeast and we will be drying out tonight, and through the first part of our day tomorrow. only an issue until about her time today before we start being conditions clearing out later this afternoon and into tonight. tomorrow we start off with a dry day but we are watching our next cold front moving in. rain showers likely as we head into monday afternoon, and as colder air rushes in kind of this cold front, we may be left with some flurries on the back end of the cold front early tuesday morning. before we dry up and clear up heading into tuesday afternoon.

watching this weekend edition of wncn today. >> we have this wintry mix falling in some spots, the tough thing about this forecast is the dividing line between who will see the precipitation and two may not see anything at all is right through the center part of our viewing area. so we have a lot going on across our viewing area. the radar is showing the wintry mix, we had some sleet, snow and rain being reported between rocky mount and wilson, and originally the precipitation began across the sandhills as an mixture of rain and sleet. our best chance for seeing any kind of precipitation at all will be for folks to the east and south of the triangle today. once again, the wintry mix along interstate 95 between rocky mount and wilson. i got a twitter report and 5 miles west of goldsboro with the rain there, but likely some in parts

this afternoon as well. rain is been reported in rocky mount and wilson, and the snow is melting before it hits the ground. that falls as rain and we have some rain around goldsboro as well, possibly in some spots as you had closer to clinton and parts of sampson county, mixing with sleet. he also have rain falling and fayetteville and fort bragg, although we did start precipitation last night as they mixture of rain and sleet. this is thanks to a coastal low pressure system and there is a sharp cutoff between who is seeing the precipitation right now and who is completely dry. in raleigh, we are completely dry this morning but that may not be the case all day. 37degrees in raleigh, 30 a degrees in durham, 35 and goldsboro and 87 is the current temperature in fayetteville. as we had through the day, we could see some of that precipitation moving further to

which could mean a wintry mix across parts of the triangle. the timing of that will be later this morning and early this afternoon. our high temperature today warming up to about 32 degrees, so this coastal low pressure system will push out to the northeast. we have rain, snow and sleet likely especially south or east of the triangle today. heavier rain possible for our friends along the coast. its lights to the northeast tonight and we start tomorrow dry. before we see rain arriving again tomorrow evening as our next cold front moves in. behind the cold front rushes in colder air so as that precipitation comes to an end, we may actually have flurries around the region before we dry out tuesday afternoon. again, the best chance for the wintry mix will be for folks to the east and to the southeast. we may see some of this
