to get the most snow. with that being said winter weather advisory will go into effect at 7 a.m. this morning and continue through 7 p.m., and it continues for areas off to our east right along the 95 corridor, up to a half an inch of snow for the majority of these areas, the 1 to 2-inch range is really going to be along the coast. it looks like they could get more snow along the outer banks than what we'll see here. now, there's already snow falling across portions of north carolina. i don't think it reaches our area until mid-morning. so your temperatures right now 28 here in raleigh, 27 in durham, 27 in henderson. south hill is at here's your fast forecast for today mostly cloudy 8 a.m.

looking out there? >> whatever the impact, the dot is trying to get ahead of whatever storm system we see. we're on 440 right now just going through raleigh and those white lines on the road is the brine. we saw a little bit of it yesterday here and there but this morning you can tell they were definitely busy throughout the night and yesterday. there is a lot of brine on the roads. that is a salt solution that they put down to stop the snow ask ice from sticking once it really starts to fall. we also want to show you some video this is the durham rescue mission from yesterday, they've been busy trying to get ahead of the storm. they say they've been full over capacity since they've gone into white flag mode. they let anyone in who needs a warm place to stay. so, again, lots

winter weather we might see later on today. >> whether it's snow, ice or storms you can get the latest conditions on the go, down load the wncn news app. raleigh police closed a part of hillsboro street after a crash. right now fayetteville police searching for an accused murder. investigators looking for boyd. he's facing murder and robbery charges. police say he killed bird. officers found bird's body and detectives say he was shot in the head. right now we've learned raleigh police looking for one more suspect in the murder of a taxi driver. officers found the 55-year old dead monday morning at the hodges creek apartment complex. two men charged with his murder.

they called the taxi to rob him saying he was shot over $13. durham public schools sending a message to the government, don't arrest our students. it comes on the heels of the arrest on this student. on january 28th he was on his way to riverside high school when he was caught in an immigration raid. his sister says he entered illegally in 2014 and is awaiting deportation. riverside high school has the largest latino population in the district has dropped 23% all surrounding fears of more raids. thousands of customers of blue cross and blue shield insurance commissioner spoke to wncn. he says he met with the company's executives this week and heard the problems customers

at partly cloudy skies. back to our west there's some snow showers falling in the mountains. around tennessee you are seeing a wintry mix. all of this going to continue to come together as it moves into our area. i am expecting snow showers to start to fall say around 10 a.m. this morning. so here's a look at your temperatures 27 in durham right now, 27 in siler city, 27 in louisburg and rocky mount, do you understand around the sand hills you're at 28, raeford 29, pinehurst at 27 degrees. so here's what i'm thinking today, 26 at 8 a.m. out the door, 29 at 10 a.m., starting to see a few isolate snow showers. i think the best chance is is going to arrived right around the mid-day hour. so if you have plans certainly watch this because accumulating snow wintry mix further across the sand hills then as we head towards the evening hours that chance is going to taper off. back to 32 by 6 p.m. this evening. now, let's go ahead and talk about

nor the other suspects dna were found. hillary clinton and bernie sanders faced off last night. clinton said the kind of criticism she's hearing from sanders is criticism that she would expect from republicans. right now more than 50 inmates dead after violence in a prison in mexico. a riot broke out and we're told no inmates escaped. relatives went there demanding answers. the law enforcement community is in mourning after the deaths of four officers in just two days. two police officers were killed in separate incidents yesterday this in north dakota and georgia. wednesday two deputies were shot and killed at a store in maryland. durham city council members at odds when it comes to police body cameras. in just a few days they'll vote on whether to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to outfit every officer with camera.

to durham mayor, but we have not heard back at this point. former nc state professor charged with stealing money from student organizations is under monitored house arrest until his next court date. wiznet is embezzlement. he was an advisor for several clubs on campus. police say he used that role to funnel out thousands of dollars for his personal use. former unc board of governors chair is now out of jail. authorities arrested him after they say he took a gun through a security check at the airport. >> i'm very embarrassed about it and it was a complete accident. so other than amming i'm stupid can we do away with this now. >> he says he accidentally left the gun in his briefcase after taking it and others to a shooting range last weekend. he

>> mother nature keeping us on our toes for sure. we're currently at temperature of 28. pretty clear for the most part around the triangle but i'm showing you the big picture because it's back to our west that we're watching closely. this is our system that's going to arrive say mid-morning into the afternoon hours. some just very light snow though back to our west around tennessee, back towards atlanta as well. now, it is important to note that this is not going to be a significant event for us. i am expecting some light snowfall accumulations but the roads have been treated, and again, maybe up to a half an inch. i'll get to more details on your accumulations in a moment. let's talk temperatures here and now 28 in raleigh, 28 in clayton, 29 in littleton, sanford, good morning, you're at 24, while durham and siler city both right around 27 degrees this morning. breaking your forecast down hour by hour. you'll notice i think you get through your morning commute on the dry side. 10 a.m. maybe a few light snow showers, then

2:00 even say maybe 3:00 that we could see some that have accumulating snow. then it should be on its way out of here by the evening drive home. now, as far as the temperatures concerned we don't get the to at freezing until lunchtime today high of only 35 degrees. so that's colder than where we've been the past few days. we drop back to the freezing mark by about 6 p.m. this evening. 6 a.m. cloudy skies for us and then we'll head throughout the morning, here we are lunchtime through 4:00 you see the light snow showers moving through. now, this is going to be kind of out of the ordinary system. i actually think they could see higher snowfall accumulations along the coast towards the outer banks, that system moves out of the area. we're going to see clearing skies then overnight tonight and that's exactly what i'm expecting for our saturday, plenty of sunshine from start to finish and you can see that as we progress through

afternoon pretty sunny conditions. so what we expecting? generally in this area shaded in white less than a half an inch of snow. you'll notice that includes raleigh and goes up towards portions of virginia and off towards the 95 corridor. if you're watching around fayetteville, clinton mainly some light snow showers mixed in and turning into rain so not expecting as big of a condition there and one to two inches possible right along the coast line today. i am thinking that these models come in dryer and dryer. so it's kernel going to be if anything less than what we're talking about. your advisory starts at 7 a.m. this morning and continues through 7 p.m. this evening for all of these counties shade in blue again on average about half an inch. our high here today 35 degrees, 34 in durham, overnight tonight clearing skies, still on the cold side

we head into the coming days you'll see the sunshine over the weekend but look at those temperatures 34 saturday afternoon, we drop to 14 for sunday morning, sunday afternoon at freezing. so many of you could stay below freezing from say, saturday afternoon until monday morning, and speaking of monday we could see a wintry mix to start off our day before change to go a cold rain for tuesday, but tuesday, that will be the start of some milder temperatures, 54 tuesday, 52 wednesday in the low 50s for thursday as well. it is 4:52. let's switch gears checking with traffic right now. a few cars out in this direction. this is i-440, no delays thankfully on this friday morning. your live drive conditions tracking an alert that we were looking at yesterday as well it's on nc 540 the shoulder is is closed in both direction between exits 54 and 69. they're doing maintenance.
