about 63 miles per hour. we'll keep an eye on traffic and weather next update in about 10 minutes. raleigh police investigating a shots fired call. the call came in late last niechlt no one was shot but bullets did damage a vehicle there. police say this was not random but due to an ongoing dispute between two men who knew each other. a few hours before that shots fired call raleigh police responded to a shooting at swaine streets. police found a man who had been shot. he is expected to be okay. police still looking for the gunman. a woman is recovering this morning after getting hit by a car in raleigh. it happened around 6 yesterday evening. the woman is expected to be okay. the driver has been charged and police still investigating the whole thing. later today state lawmakers expecting to vote on is

to the policy twice in the next few months. >> justin quesinberry joins us with a breakdown of what it all means. >> reporter: good morning the mouse and senate will reconvene here at the general cell plea later this morning. republican lawmakers hope to finalize a map of congressional districts and saturday time line for primary elections. last night the house voted to hold two primaries, the first would be march 15th and would be for everything except congressional races, those would be june 7th. the reason for all this is because state lawmakers have to redraw the congressional districts. federal judges found two of the current districts were created along racial lines. democrats say the situation will confuse voters. >> by continuing to try to push forward and have elections as soon as we can, instead of slowing down and taking our breath. >> obviously it's going to

durham both at 31 degrees. so the big picture not showing a lot going on around our area. we have high pressure dominating two today. if you want any sort of activity you have to look up towards the great lakes region some lake effect snow. here's what you need to know as you're planning your day we'll start below freezing at 8 a.m., climb to 45 at lunchtime only looking for a high near 51 degrees, very similar to yesterday. we're back into the upper 40s as we head to 6 p.m. but just get through today because the temperatures will climb over the weekend ahead. we spike to 66 tomorrow, 68 on sunday, our normal high for this time of year is right around 56 degrees. we'll be closer to that mark on monday, but i am tracking the chance for rain as we head towards monday and even into tuesday and you can see by tuesday we drop back into the upper 40s, again. so the underlying message here make the

sunshine out there as soon as the sunrises this morning and we'll continue with clear skies through about lunchtime talking about sunshine throughout the afternoon and then turning partly cloudy tonight. now, that's a good thing because tomorrow morning isn't going to be as cold as a result. this morning like i mentioned a lot of you are starting the 20s. that won't be the case tomorrow morning, 30s and maybe even some 40s. the afternoon tomorrow we could see a few clouds mix in. this is not going to have a negative impact on your forecast. the weekend still trending much warmer than where we've been, 50 in durham and 54 in fayetteville. tonight partly cloudy skies still above freezing, look at that an overnight low of 38 degrees. some of you that's say 7 to 8 degrees warmer than where we are right now. as we head into the coming days you'll notice the temperatures start to spike. 66 our high on saturday, 68 on sunday. now, if we are going to see any rain chances at all over

to sun set on sunday and then as we head into early next week the rain chances going to hang around. this is a cold front that's going to move into the area and stall out over the region. so 58 a good chance for rain monday and then the best chance is going to be tuesday, pretty widespread there and we could be talking about significant amounts of rain. wednesday some of the rain starting wind down and then by thursday again we're seeing the sunshine return a as temperatures settle back to near 50 again that's cooler than where we should be. those overnight lows over the weekend and early next week won't be nearly as cold so we won't have to worry about anything freezing as it falls next week. we'll switch gears and check in with traffic right now and we are starting to see a few more cars. this is actually priests busy for this time of the morning i-40 and wade avenue the good news to report is there's no accident, slow downs, so if you do have to head out early just take it easy.
