our top story tonight is just with -- have just learned information about a crash that sent four cyclists to a hospital in johnston county on massengill pond road. amy cutler is on the scene with the latest. >> reporter: this accident happened just behind where we are right now on the side of this road in the last few minutes the state highway patrol has sent out an update time as the four cyclists were rushed to the hospital with two of them sustaining head trauma authorities have told us the cyclists were headed north on massengill pond road when they were struck from behind. offering inside. her mother is too distraught to speak. she was coming up over the hill and didn't see the cyclist. she panicked. authorities the alcohol was not a factor. following the accident, her mother waited on scene.

wake medical hospital. when i got here she was actually laying over there in the ditch crying. and she kept saying that they are alive? and i went and looked. they were all alive. >> reporter: state highway patrol has not identified the cyclists at this point or the driver. we also don't know the condition of the cyclist just yet. the state highway patrol said they do anticipate charges against the driver in this. we will have more coming up at 7:00. we are in johnson county, amy cutler, wncn news. it is showdown saturday in the race for the white house. we just told you hillary clinton has edged bernie sanders. meanwhile, republicans are going to the polls in south carolina. nbc's steve handelsman has the latest from the trail.

here are your temperatures overnight. just to around the upper 40s around 50 and there is tomorrow even nicer temperature wise. today we will see some 70s. here is the rain over south carolina. there is a frontal system to the west of us and that front will move through. when it does, it could give us some rain. as you look at the forecast hour by hour let's go partly cloudy this evening with temperatures falling through the 50s. it will be 55 at 11:00 and overnight we will see temperatures down into the mid- to upper 40s to around 50 degrees with a few more clouds. it won't be 15 degrees like it was last week in the overnight low. we will talk more about that front i told you about and show you what is in store for the whole workweek coming up in a

much better than last weekend. 59 last weekend at this time we were talking about temperatures going into the teens at night. we mentioned how we will stay in the upper 40s to around 50. right now across the state we have 59 in raleigh, 61 in fayetteville and the 60s to the east and even the mountains with the ski resorts opening and 54 in asheville. the radar is picking up a little bit and you can see down in south carolina there are a couple showers. that area is staying to the south of us and it is not really moving anywhere toward the north. we are not going to put that into the forecast, otherwise temperatures in the viewing area is 59 roxboro, 61 fayetteville, 60 wilson, 61 goldsboro. the satellite is cloudy with showers. but those are moving off toward the southeast, and so we will be okay. but there is a front to the north but will come through

evening hours, and that will start to chill us down. these temperatures are forecast at 56 degrees f 9:00 with partly cloudy to may be mostly cloudy overnight. i have 49 at 6 a.m. and tomorrow, sunday, 54 with mostly cloudy. 64 and 68 at 10:00. i just wanted to put that up there with a 10% chance because our next weather maker is that cold front which will move toward us by the afternoon. but there is sunny morning. you can see a couple showers around 6:00 with a better chance for the number to go after 30%. when you go back to work or school on monday, it is mainly dry and then this little low will come up and give us a chance for rain you see into monday night and then tuesday morning also a good chance of rain. then i wanted to show you there

us a better chance of rain late wednesday. after those repeated blows come through, things will dry out for next weekend. it will be miles tomorrow and the sandhills i don't think you will see a shower today. i also don't think you will see a showers during the day but it will be mostly cloudy with 70 smithfield and clinton. the best chance is along the virginia border counties and maybe as we head toward the evening tomorrow night in the triangle. or tomorrow 68 degrees and we mentioned the chance of rain late in the day. monday as you head back to work or school, it is mainly dry at nam and much cooler in the 50s with rain developing southeast of the triangle and then tuesday there will be rain likely in the morning and it will still be around in the afternoon but it will be more scattered in the 40s. than as we head toward wednesday, it is the opposite of tuesday with a little bit of
