presidential primary season. more delegates are up for grabs today than any other single day of the contest. for hillary clinton, this is an opportunity for her to distance hearns from bernie sanders while donald trump has an insurmountable lead. a national poll shows trump dominating his rivals more than 30 percentage points over marco rubio. that same poll finds clinton topping sanders 35% to 38%. weijian changjiang is in washington with the latest. >> she will not clinch the nominations but momentum can carry them through and for a fractured gop that means a greater divide between republicans who will and will not back trump.

apple and the fbi travels to capitol hill today. fbi director james comey and apple's chief lawyer are scheduled to testify before the house judiciary committee. apple is arguing in court that if it complies with the fpi request it would set a dangerous precedent. a 14-year-old student is sunday arrest after being charged with shooting in a cafeteria. two were wound and two others were injured while trying to escape. >> i looked to the left like what's going on, all of a sudden, bang, bang, bang, bang. i thought, okay, that's a gun. i ran back into the library. >> one of the kids who got shot, i grabbed his leg and he fell down and the kid that's shooting run out.

the school, dropped his handgun and was captured. police say they have a motive but aren't saying what it is. in california a woman and her children are safe after being kidnapped by her ex-husband. at one point he stopped but refused to surrender, the chase continued into the night. he stopped again, got out of the car and made a run for it. his children and their mother are in good shape and the suspect remains on the run. well, a watershed moment at the supreme court. justice clarence thomas asked a question. this is the first time thomas has asked a question in ten years. he has said he relies on written briefs. the case involves the federal law that bans people convicted of domestic violence from owning guns. president obama is expected to meet with senate leaders today to discuss the vacancy left with the deaths of justice antonin scalia.

rescue a hostage in afghanistan. edward byers jr. goes to great lengths to stay hidden but on monday the 36-year-old was at the center of the president's attention. >> he's the consummate professional. >> reporter: he awarded the special ops chief the special medal of honor. in 2008 hi was part of a raid that saved a hostage. joseph said he realized a rescue was under way when he heard someone calling his name. >> as soon as i heard my name and i answered back and they heard where my voice was coming from, one s.e.a.l. just came and laid on top of me. >> reporter: that man was byers. >> with his bare hands pinned the fighter to the wall and held him until his teammates took action. >> reporter: byers is the first
