sanctions target their nuclear program and making an effort to only took us to places we wanted to see so we didn't get a full picture of life behind the curtain but what we did encounter surprised us. the streets of pyongyang are busier than ever. roads that used to be carless now flow with traffic. stop lights are still rare so patriotic traffic cops maintain order. as we were driven around, we saw a whole neighborhood on the rise cranes. north korea's economy shrank last year but this looks like a place that is sxangexpanding. not a country crippled by sanctions. the purpose of the sanctions is to squash us but we cannot surrender said this man. we have to defend our lives and our nuclear program. that nuclear program is why, in march, the u.n. imposed their harshest restrictions against
