this half learning that some workers at the safe streets operation in west baltimore are now accused of using the program as a front for gang activity. monday, feds charged 13 people, investigators say two gang members worked for the non-profit group. and tonight we have reaction to the mayor's move. >> i know it will be hard on all of us. especially the outreach workers that love doing what they do. you know, that will affect the community that we serve. >> mayor stephanie rawlings-blake said the indictments raise many concerns about the program. >> a spike in home robberies has baltimore city police concerned at this hour. karen parks live at city police headquarters with more on the plan to fight back. karen? what is happening? >>well, jeff, police chief bealefield has beefed up patrols and prompted an investigation into the recent spike in residential robberies. now there are no suspects, there are no connections. but police plan to get to the bottom of this. >> a change of climate that is

causing concern. baltimore city has seen a 34 percent increase in residential robberies. mostly here in northwest baltimore. with 21 robberies this year so far. compared with eight this time last year. >> right now, this is not a amass ban of criminals running around with sub machine guns and ski masks. no. robbery attempts. -some cases individuals are home. some cases they are not home. >> recent victims include two girls, 8 and 13. who front door was kicked down by four men along west forest park. when the girls refused to open the door. three of the men ransacked the home and but did not hurt the girls. >> probably don't care if they are in there or not. they just want to go in, grab something quick. and get out. >> police have not connected the crimes, but say they are all crimes of opportunity. >> lock your do your windows at

renew milan's liquor license. it will hold a hearing in two weeks. >> public works crews work ingwatermain break near the harbor tunnel. tonight a 20-inch pipe along keith avenue broke. water shut off quickly. no word on what caused it. late word at this hour that keith avenue has reopened. >> a shakeup in baltimore city government. mayor stephanie rawlings-blake has named a new recreation director. gregory bear, and she outlined new goals for the parks and recommend department saying the status quo is no longer acceptable. >> for the first time since lamont davis was on trial, 5-year-old raven wyatt appeared in court. one of two people shot last july when gun fire erupted in the 300 block of south pulaski. this video was captured by a blue light camera. state argued that lamont davis is the person you see firing shots. however, the defense claims it

was maurice powell that pulled the trigger. >> if you look at the video and happily murder came in the courtroom you saw his body type and the guy running like a gissell. that is not my guy. >> up to the jury to decide if davis is guilty. >> westminster man is charged with raping, beating and burning his girlfriend's 21 month old daughter. ryan gifford arrested sunday. happened saturday night after he was drinking. child is in intensive care at johns hopkins. >> a baltimore police detective will be forced to quit his job. mark lunsford pled guilty to stealing money and items from the police department. and then lying about it. as part of the deal, lunsford will forfeit 46000 and then resign. he could face up to a decade behind bars, sentencing is set for some time in june. >> a university of maryland student is now suing the pg county police force. it happened last month after the terps win over duke. john mckenna one of 28 arrested

but his attorney said this video shows three officers beating his client. he claims it was unprovoke. police chief suspended all police officers involved and students are reacting to the video. >> that's how -- girls were hit from behind with a batons like the standard riot push with the baton. >> bring in the horses and seeing the attacks. it is bad for the image of maryland. >> two students that were arrested are suing police. county prosecutors are investigating to see if criminal charges should also be filed. >> now that brings us to the question of the day. should those officers caught on tape be charged so far 96 percent say affirmative. 4 percent say no. joann writes on facebook. maybe if more police officers were held responsible for actions, we would have more good police officers. >> weather wise a gloomy ending to the spring weather we have had in the past. how long will the gray skies stick around? we understand they are leaving. chief meteorologist vytas reid has the latest. >> clouds are breaking

overnight. and actually we will get more sunshine for tomorrow. which is nice. looking at the radar right now. not a lot of activity out there. all the rain pushed south. and now left with the clouds breaking up over the state. in fact, putting this in motion. you can see how the showers have pushed south over norfolk. and it looks like that will continue to move out over the ocean. back to the west. breaks in the clouds. and we saw the temperatures only topping out in the upper 50s. so cool clammy day with the showers. and right now the temperatures on the cool side of things. in the 40s. but we will see warmer air tomorrow by the afternoon. back in the 60s. with more sun s how long the sunshine sticks around, coming up in the seven day. >> as we said the maryland general assembly comes teclose and makes a major changes. 60-years-old for instance, will be able to register to vote. still they will not be able to vote until they are 18. >> mediation is now required between borrowers facing foreclosure and mortgage lenders, application for loan

into the a nuclear weapon exist in dozens of nation. >> a second summit will be held in 2012 in south korea. >> a gray day weather wise. when will the sun make the appearance again? check back now with chief meteorologist vytas reid. vytas? >> tomorrow will be better out there. we saw the rain showers today. with cooler air. and it looks like now that e front has pushed off to the southeast and tenant showers with it. we will continue to see those clouds breaking up over maryland. and it looks like a pretty decent day sitting up for tomorrow. here is what is going on downtown right now. 47 degrees. partly cloudy skies. winds out of the east-northeast at three. and we have humidity levels at 86 percent. the humidity levels will drop more as the dryer air works in from the northwest. and across the state. those temperatures had a hard time to get out of the upper 50s today. these were the highs. 58 in baltimore. 56 in d.c. 54 hagerstown. only 46 degrees out in western maryland. and oakland. but as you got into central virginia we are looking at the

temperatures in the mid 60s and even 70s further south. so you can see the warm air held south of us, as we had the frontal boundary slip through. and also an area of low pressure wrapping in atlantic moisture. you could see on the state temperatures right now. still in the mid 40s. to lower 40s. across the parts of the western portion of the state. but we will continue to see that cool air move in. as the clouds break. we could see frost developing up along the border. especially in parts of pennsylvania. so they have actually frost advisories issued for some of the western counties out there, west of philadelphia, and also york and into harrisburg. so it looks like cool air pulling north. bigger picture shows 39 in harrisburg. so 30s are dropping in here. we will get into the mid 40s here around baltimore tonight. and tomorrow we will see things change as the 60s are allowed back into the pick. which is good. what kept us on the cool side was the area of low pressure. upper level low moving along the front. wrapping in the atlantic moisture. bringing in cool air from the north. back from the west. we will see the high pressure

building in and that allows for more sunshine and takes our temperatures up tomorrow. and thursday and friday temperatures are back into the 70s. looking at the shower activity pushing to the south. clearing skies on the model data here. for the next couple of days, until the next system comes down out of canada, giving us the next chance for showers. late thursday, a possibility. but a brief chance for some scattered showers across the area. 46 degrees tonight. out lying areas, especially northern portion of baltimore county, harford. down to the lower 40s. upper 30s. clouds break making way for sunshine tomorrow. 64 degrees. decent afternoon. and then on the seven-day forecast it looks like we will continue to see temperatures increasing into the lower r 70s thursday. friday 30 percent chance for showers. at 73 degrees. and saturday and sunday back in the 60s and more sunshine, with temperatures increasing into the mid to upper 60s on next week, monday and tuesday. >> a 46-year-old trucker from the great state of wyoming

>> across town, ravens made a roster move, said goodbye to cornerback samari rolle. terminating his contract this afternoon. ravens since 2005 he missed last season with a neck injury. in 2008 he was diagnosed with epilepsy but played anyway. in 10 games w injuries hampering him n a prepared statement. the 34-year-old samari called the orioles a close knit organization and great family. and knew so many talked about him today. >> the way he carried himself, handled adversity, fought through the medical issues. injuries. played at the end of the season. and the playoff run. when he came back and, you know, played great for us. just a true class individual. and honor to work with him for twoers. >> not a lot of time that you
