lines. leaving thousands in the dark. state of emergency is declared in 56 counties. >> and the rains we're seeing is part of the system that hit oklahoma last night. >> we could see more of that rain, if predictions of this hurricane season come true. vytas reid, tells us we could have a mean season hurricane wise. >> very busy season. beginning with severe weather out there. storm prediction center issued a high-risk category for that area. that's rare. we do not get those issued. but dangerous for them. looking at the hurricane season. 2010. above normal as far as how many storms. total name storms potentially 15 to 18. we could see seven of them making landfall on the u.s. border. possible. out of the 15 to 18, hurricanes, that will become hurricanes, is five to seven of them named storms. and then major hurricanes, two to four of them. could be three category or greater. we are looking at a busy season because of a weakening el nino. warmer atlantic temperatures.

holding energy companies accountable. >> interior secretary salazar will testify before congressional panel next week as hearings into the disaster in the gulf continue. in washington, craig boswell, fox 45 news. >> the oil may never reach our shores but it is affecting the state seafood industry. gulf waters produce 20 percent of the world's known seafood. that means the oil spill is putting a major dent in what is available. >> for us, it is the crab fishery, shrimp and oyster fisheries that will be impacted heavily. >> simple economics. while the demand is high and supply is low. higher prices are inevitable. >> police break up a marijuana operation in virginia. they found 70 pounds of processed marijuana, plus 60 pot plants in one home. about 125 plants were found in another home. authorities are calling it a family operation. four people were arrested and more people could be. >> a police chase ends with an officer tasing one of his own.

dash cam video shows ohio police trying to pull over a drunk driver. turns into a 100 miles per hour chase. when the drivers cornered him. he fires a taser at the driver and misses. and ends up hitting another officer. the driver admits to speeding, but as far as being tased? >> i am truly sorry, i never even thought about that. i have respect for the law. whoever shot the tase at me shot the other officer. they may need to say something bomb where he is aiming. >> the officers are okay tonight. fouler was drinking beer, sitting in his car. innocently listening to the radio. >> listening to the radio. >> apparently that's what he was doing. >> gloomy day today. >> hope things clear out for the preakness weekend. check back with vytas reid. >> watch where you point that thing. when you fire it. anyway, talking about what's going on. we're looking at showers that are coming off-and-on for the

last several hours. pretty much all day, cloudy skies. and still seeing rain scattered across the area. not a lot. it has lessened but we have mostly cloudy skies. 50 degrees. winds out of the east-southeast at eight. and humidity levels at 86 percent. looks like we will continue to see the potential for scattered showers tonight. and line of showers moving along a frontal boundary back west. we have a warm front building in. but right behind it a cold front. so seeing the slide across the region. giving us a potential for more showers later tonight. maybe early tomorrow morning. looking at 52 in baltimore. 47 in harrisburg. down south. 66 in charleston. 66 in lexington. you see the warmer air as it collides with some of the cooler air north. firing off the showers and thunderstorms. in fact, a few strong ones early they are evening in eastern ohio and west-northwest of pittsburg right now. as this line continues to track our direction. late tonight, maybe a chance for showers. the heavier storms over parts of pennsylvania and southern portions of new york state. as far as what is controlling

that. warm front and cold front closely together. brings in a wedge of mild air south of us. but by tomorrow, it looks like it will scoot off east a bit. and temperatures go up. probably in the low 70s as we get through the day. and then we have the warm front approaching out of the midwest. along that bring showers as well. thursday night another round of showers possible. and then it looks like cold front pushes through late thursday night and friday morning to the afternoon. and we will start to see, actually, things clear up for the weekend. which looks good. here is how it plays out tonight. 55 degrees. showers across the area. winds out of the south-southeast at 10-to-15. and tomorrow mostly cloudy skies. few breaks in the clouds. some areas warmer out there. anywhere from 74 to 76 degrees. wind out of the west-southwest at five to 10. and then your preakness cast it looks like it will be decent if you are going off to the track. 77 degrees. clear and mild. beautiful day if you are going out to pimlico race track on saturday. so it looks like a good day saturday for the race.

this morning. pulled in before 6:00. two horse from the d wayne lucas stable, dublin. finished seventh in the kentucky derby. and northern giant that did not run in the derby and has new shooter status. so obvious question is why ride 14 hours when you can fly the horses in to bwi thurgood marshall airport. according to lucas that process is difficult. while vaning them in is simple. >> the plane deal is a little bit complicated. first of all, only let you take one guy. so we have a full crew of six people. so now we have to fly five of them commercially. and that's always a bit of a headache. and then when we go in the van everybody gets here at the same time and jump on this like we did. and it works out good. i did it last year and i will keep doing it. >> more horses are due in tomorrow n draw, tomorrow night. 5:00 at pimlico. back to you. >> looks like we saw or you knew.
