fox 45 ees "late edition". >> hello again, i am jennifer gilbert. >> and i am jeff barnd. size of baltimore city police force is shrinking with nearly 80 officerr leaving the department. >> keith daniels is live at city pooice headquarters where commanders are scrambling to retiree cops. keith? >>well, jennifer, police spokesman said the epartment is about 100 officers short off3 having a full staff of 3100. %-worries here at the departmen. spreading to neighborhoods too. maryland unexpected number of retiiing officers, 42 officers left in june. more than the 17 who departed in the samm month last year. and 20 retired in june of 2008. the officers left n the days and weeks beforeecuts to pension benefits took effect. and tonight some residents bblieve the exodus could jeopardize public safety.
