spotted drug deals. one of the arrested lloyd green, police say is one of baltimore's most violent felons. >> he has gun conviction backgrounds, he is a known cocaine distributor. >> detectives seized nearly 2-kilos of crack, cocaine, heroin, and 6 guns and $4000 from the business. investigators believe green owns the car wash. >> another drug bust in baltimore. this one discovered from the air. this is video released by the baltimore city police department. taken from the fox trot helicopter. 34 marin plants found in leakin park a month ago. police watched the area but no one came forward tor harvest the plants. police removed them this morning. street value could be $70,000. >> a city police officer is recovering tonight after being hit by a pickup truck. this is the scene about 4:45 this afternoon. near baltimore and howard streets downtown. the officer was on the police motorcycle at the time. he was taken to shock trauma,

and is expected to survive. >> about the same time, along linux and callow avenue, foot chase ends and suspect hit by the car. man pursued for drugs and he took off. details are not available but the suspect did not have life threatening injuries. >> >> new details about the four morgan state university students beaten in a city jail before they were released. dante green, renard james, howard smith and detail louton, all served 30 days without bail. accused of assaulting a woman back in june. and hamilton hills apartment. but yesterday prosecutors dropped the charges after the woman changed her story. >> it was very difficult to get any kind of corroboration, between what was initially told, and the varying accounts of what happened after that. >> if the young lady in this particular case is not charged then the whole criminal justice

system does not work. >> the men's attorneys say clients were assaulted in jail because they were bragging about their release, all four expected to be okay. >> the man shot in a downtown hilton hotel last week s now behind bars himself. while the shooter, sharolyn yarrboro released. she shot her boyfriend in a forth floor hotel room. he is now arrested facing unrelated federal gun and drug charges. >> well they are closing igniting a political firestorm. but tonight the city reopened five of the public pools. private donors contributed $417,000 to keep the five pools open through labor day. the city shut down all the pools on sunday. but today many city council members demanded they be reopened. after a fire from the mayor that questioned the council's demands. >> you know any one of them could have come to me during the budget negotiation and say

talk about. except off to the west. we have a bit avenue activity down there that we're watching. and then northwest watch the next round of precipitation. see over ohio, cleveland. another front that will push through, giving us a chance of showers and thunderstorms mid to afternoon tomorrow. take the umbrellas with you. start off with the sunglasses and tomorrow may need umbrellas. closer look at the temperatures for the weekend, coming up. >> the candidates for governor are stepping up the campaign. that includes a major push for contributions. and as john rydell reports, those efforts are apparently paying off. >> with a last minute appeal to donors online. governor o'malley's reelection campaign is reporting big bucks. more than $6.7 million in the bank. with $3.3 million raised in the last four months. ehrlich campaign said it has received contributions from 20,000 private donors. ehrlich was hoping to raise, at least, $3 million by this week,

and while he won't say exactly how much has been collected. the former governor remains optimistic. >> it is tough to raise money against democratic incumbent mayor in maryland. obviously. but the numbers are startling on our side. and we're proud of them. and we think it does show momentum. >> governor o'malley was not available, but his campaign manager said the 6.7 million puts him in a strong position to win. o'malley's campaign has already spent thousands of dollars on tv commercials, while the ehrlich campaign has not aired any tv ads. >> particularly 93 state like maryland where you have dc media and abaltimore media. it is a great advantage to have more resources to go up on, to go up on tv than your opponent. >> with the general election three months away, and many polls showing the two candidates neck in neek, bone campaigns are taking nothing for granted. >> people that do take it for grand usually wind up many times surprised at the end of the day

by not going back to the office. >> both campaigns are stepping up the appeal to voters in dollars and cents. john rydell, fox 45 news late edition. >> all political candidates have to report to the state the amount of money they have raised by next week. >> a baltimore county resident took his fight to protect his rights, to court. and the judge ruled against him. stephen colby posted a large campaign sign in support of ehrlich. in his front yard. the county said it violates size restrictions, so they fined colby and ordeeed taken down. since then, colby sued the county for his right to free speech. today's ruling has not not discouraged him. >> this is not just political signage. this is -- these are personal message signs as well that are covered by the law. so this may carry past november. but this is just as important after november, as it is now. >> colby continues his fight and has a meeting with a judge, at the end of the month.

the radar. but across the 95 corridor. looking at the mid 90s. 95 for the high in wilmington. 96 baltimore. 97 in d.c. 96 in fredericksberg. continue to see that heat. kind of go away. good news into tomorrow. mainly the 80s right now across the region. but we will see temperatures cool down through the overnight. temperatures if you go up 95 up toward boston. cooler sitting at 66. comfortable night there. even in new york sitting at 78. holding on to the heat across the mid-atlantic. what we will see is changes, and thunderstorms still kind of firing up in the area, and right now, we are looking at this stationary trough that will continue to push south. and that will continue to take some of the thunderstorms with it. but we are watching up to the north. next round of showers and thunderstorms pushing down with another frontal boundary that gives us more showers and thunderstorms by the afternoon. time ting out on future scan. one to three to 4:00, scattered showers, and thunderstorms across the area.

and some of them can be a little heavier. downpours of rain. and lightning that we have to watch for. but nonetheless it will cool down around the state. 77 degrees tonight. mild conditions. we will see a few broken clouds across the skyline. and then for tomorrow, 88 the high. with the chance for showers and thunderstorms. that chance is about 50 percent to 60 percent chance. some of you folks may get some heavier rain than others. and nonetheless, we will see the scattered showers across the region. five-day forecast. 88 friday. 30 percent chance for showers. 20 percent chance on saturday. better chance you may not see any. may be the best week. 90 sunday. monday 89. with a few scattered showers. jennifer? >> preseason opener hours away. john harbaugh tells us what we can expect from the

veterans it is a matter of going through a couple of series without getting hurt. for the 13 rookies on the roster. it is far more serious than that. it is a chance to catch the coaching half's eye. especially non-drafted free agents. for them everything is at stake. and john rydell will be watching closely. >> very excited. you know, see them in game action for the first time. i know they are excited to show what they can do. i think they will play well. i will be surprised if our rookies don't play well. that's why it is so great. never know who will step up. who gets the opportunity. who gets a ball thrown to them on either side. who is sacked. special teams are big for them. you have an opportunity to stands out on special teams every time you run down the field. so interesting to see who takes advantage of that. >> it is august, and the town is talking about the orioles. it has been about a decade since that has happen. under buc showalter, the o's have won seven of the last eight. tonight we are looking for the fourth win in a row. it was game two of the three game series against the indians in cleveland.
