suspected of beating a hispanic man for death. 19 gerald germane lolly in court. he killed reese on saturday. he told police he attacked him because quote he hates mexicans. >> and another hispanic vic tim3 falls from gun fire. looking for a 13-year-old the teenager shot two men while trying to rob them. august 13th. police say the men laughed at the 13-year-old, as she tried to rob them. >> it is just pretty much normal. i am mune to it. normal day in baltimore city. >> disheartening and speaks out to how much attention we need to pay to our youth and create safe streets and neighborhoods and environments for our children. >> the other man that was shot, survived. >> the shooting in west baltimore sends a man to shock trauma. man shot several times in the back. it happened at pennsylvaniaa3 north avenue before 6:00. he is in critical condition. witnesses say the shooting

followed a fight with another man, over a bus pass. >> an eastern shore man is at bayview medical center at thii hour. after police say he set his wife's car on fire with her inside of the car. it happened friday in stevens ville. cell phone footage captured the flames. she told her estranged husband pernell not to smoke at the pumps and instead he pumped gas into the car and used a lighter but clanton was burned. >> how bad, how bad could it have been? that he would have attempted to burn her like that. but, yeah, it is great. karma. he is hurting now. she probably ran like the wind. it is great. >> clanton obtained a restraining order against pernell days before the attack. mr. clantonnis expected to be ccarged with attempted murder and arson very soon.

>> the race for baltimore's top prosecutor heats up tonight with the release of a new campaign ad. attaining state's attorney pat jessamy. >> goodhart but baltimore city does not need sweet baltimore needs strong. >> greg bernstein's new ad is 30 seconds and features the former witness protection coordinator. an x assistant state attorney. it shows images of the dawson family funeral and claims that five children and their parents were killed beccuse the state's attorney's office miss managed the witness protection program. observers call it a scathing but effective ad. >> it also said that don't take a personal atttck, because we think highly personally of patricia jes me. the problem is how she does her job. she doesn't do it well. even thoogh she is a good person. good people in the world but doesn't mean she should have this job. >> it shows a police spokesman

>> the food and drug administration commisssoner is asking for more authority to police the food supply. as the largest egg recall in recent history continues to grow. jennifer davis has the latest details about what the government is saying about the recall and what doctors say you need to know, to keep your family from getting sick. >> the head offthe food and drug administration said that the growing egg recall highlights the need ffr congress to pass pending legislation to give our agency more authority to prevent food scares rather than react to them. for example, she said right now the fda cannot order recalls. they remain voluntary. >> this is a long standing gap in theefda authority. the legislation that congress is currently considering, would give us that authority, and other critical tools. >> so far half a billion eggs recalled.

following reports of more than 1000 salmonella cases nationwide %-iowa farms.nted eggs from two officials say farms like these are rarely inspected by the federal government. but fda said new egg safety rules that went into effect in july after the outbreak, required producers to do more salmonella testing and could reduce future infections. fda investigation into the source of contamination could take months. in the meantime fda chief said avoid over ease eggs. doctors say it is probably best to boil them. >> i think it is best to have the egg cooked firm. generally runny eggs you want to avoid. >> commissioner said you cannot tell if it is contaminated by the appearance. it will look and smell and taste normal. you can tell by the code on the egg carton. to find out if the carton in your refrigerator is part of the recall. visit www.food safety.gov. jennifer davis fox 45 news. >> the eggs affected by the

states. maryland is not one of them. and, of course, you can find more information about the recall on our website on foxbaltimore.com/news inks. >> federal investigators spend the day determining the cause of the bp oil rig explosion. a hearing today asked whether crews were prepared in case of an emergency. the april 20 blast killed 11 people, you will recall and of millions of gallons of crudes oil into the gulf of mexico. >> do you believe, as you sit here today, you received all the innormation necessary to operate safely? >> post incident with the things that have come to lightt no. >> the final bottom kill to plug the leak for good is expected the week after labor day, but affects of the oil spill, of course, will likely be felt for years. >> 33 minors trapped deep underground for more thanntwo weeks, have been found alive.

an amazing scene. rescue workers erupted in chile when a video camera lowered underground showed the minors alive. minors tied notes to the camera, announcing everyone had survived. >> when he comes owl i will tell him 1,000,000 times i love him. 1,000,000 times. nobody would be able to take away the happiness i feel right now. >> rescue workers say it could take as long as four months to get the trapped minors out. they plan to use the hooe drilled to send the men small capsules containing food, water, oxygen and communication equipment to get them through the long hall. >> that is a miracle. >> four months to get them out? that's incredible. >> fine as long as they have the provisions. but it is an amazing story. >> it is. check in now with oor weather. we have clouds moving in. >> yeah, go to somebody amazing here in the studio. -hall we? vytas reid with the sky watch forecast. >> thank you so much.

talking bout what is going on out there. we have a lot of clouds moving in across the region, across the state. some of them have showers. some of you folks will see rain, some won't. and across the area, scattered showers expected through the overnight. coming down at a good pace through parts of the city. in fact, looking at cloudy skies. areas with showers. 71 degrees. you wwll see a noticeable change temperature wise. with cooler air moving in. winds out of the east at 13. so a nice breeze, with humidity levels at 84 percent. now looking at the temperatures. you can see the changes occurring out there. as i speak. looking at 73 in baltimore. 75 in d.c. dover at 70. and look at wilmington delaware at 68. and only 68 in hagerstown. and then only 57 in oakland out there in gar rat county. so cooler air is settling in out of the north, as we continue to see the flow behind the rain. and then aaso the flow coming in from the northwest and winds will start to change out of the north-norrhwest. you can see on this map, the green indicated some of the

cooler temperatures north..3 63 boston. 62 in albany new york. 64 in buffalo. and then we will continue to see the cooling affect for the next couple of days across the mid-attantic. and then also the new england states. what is helppng to spaan that is an area of low pressure sitting out over the atlantic. that will continue to wrap in that moisture and that marine layer of air brings in the showers and potential for some showers. so we have instability to continue to give us a little bit of rain potentialll. and we have the trough that is dropping through the area. dropping our temperatures down as well. we will get a few breaks in the clouds here and there. so it won't be a total washout tomorrow. i think mostly cloudy skies. maybe poke of sunshine here and there. but nonetheless pottntial for showers. keep the umbrellas nearby heading off to work. looking at the future scan. you can see the instability and model data shows pop ups here and there across the area. nothing organized. just pop up scattered showers anddrumble of thunder. but better chances for the showers. model data shows remaining
