new study funded by the faa shows delays ann cancellations cost people billons. delays, canceled, common sight at airports across the country. >> flight canceled because off3 weather, miss my can connection to atlanta. so they got me off this flight and goong to reagan to fly to kenen. >> these signs are costing passengers big bucks. to the tune of $16.7 billion a year. that according to a study conducted for the faa by researchers at the uuiversity of california burk lee. %-delays amounted to $8.3 billi. for extra fuel, crews and maintenance and padded sccedules to deal with delays. add in other factors like indirect affect on the economy and you have a hit of $33 billion. researchers looked at the cost associated with flight delays, miss connections and cancellations including expenses like food and accommodations

while stranded. airliies say they are not surprised by the information. the president of the air transport association saying this repprt underscores what weú have been saying all along. thattflight delays drive billonú of dollars in added costs, bbth to our airlines and ultimately to the customers. if we do not accelerate the modernization of our air traffic -ontrol system, we will see more negaaive impacts on the u.s. economy, and that is unacceptable. >> faa is in the ppocess of modernizing the air traffic control system. that is expected to cost the government and the aviation industry, about $40 billion. in washington, fox news. >> well this faa report looked at the cost to passengers for flight delays in 2007. since that was the latest year of complete data available. >> new tonight. the maryland court of appeals approved a new rule making it easier for homeowners to challenge foreclosure documents. the rule would allow independent lawyers to look at the

and they could see a frost there. as we have seen the temperatures start to drop in this fall season. we will start to experience that as well. but not yet. because we are sstll seeing teeperatures in the 50s here in baltimore. 55 dc. 47 hagerstown. 43 out there in oakland and western maryland. weeare starting to see the clouds build in. we saw showwrs this morning. then the clouds cleared up. let us see sun. now we are seeing the clouds returning. with a few pop-up showers over virginia. mmst of the activity should stay mainny south of us. and the eastern shore. we could get a little bit of rain out of this. but like the model data is showing on the future scan. shows most of the ctivity south-southhast of us. then we will start to see the clouds break by the afternoon. get moreesunshine. kind offa repeat of what we saw today. but less rain involved. except for the folks down there in charles county and toward areas toward salisbury where the model shows as mucc as an inch. maybe not rue but potentially that much could fall south of us. we could get accumulating rain
