morning as long as those repairs old day. liz: in a case of legionnaires' disease in the south bronx. ben: they tested positive for legionella bacteria. robert moses has more details in the bronx with the latest. i thought this outbreak was supposed to be over. >> reporter: a lot of people felt the same way but seems as though it is not. this is the building behind me on cortland avenue that has tested positive and many people lydia tell us they are frustrated because they just learned about this cluster of cases and meeting last night. the cluster does not appear to be related to this summer's outbreak would still is enough to cause plenty of anxiety. beginning today the new york city housing authority is expected to install water filters that eliminate the legionella bacteria in every apartment at 681 courtland avenue.

system in that building tested positive for the bacteria. the health department says the hot water will be turned back on once the filters are installed. two other buildings at 304 east and 700 morris avenue tested negative. results in five other buildings in the complex are pending. according to the city's health commissioner there have been four cases of legionnaires' disease in the melrose houses in the last six months. only one person is still hospitalized. those who live in the building that tested positive wonder why they are just finding out about these cases now. >> no one had an inkling something was going on. why didn't they let us know? why wait till the last minute to tell us it is here? everyone is panicking. >> it is ashamed because i am up in age, 67 years old. >> reporter: not long ago the city declared the legionnaires'

came this news, word that the content of the sacred heart and doggerel school on the upper east side tested positive for the legionella bacteria and once again the city is an easy. more than 120 people got sick in this summer's outbreak, 12 people died. the health department here says the cold water at 681 portland avenue is safe to use. we told you about a short-term solution, filters that are going to be installed here but the health department is also working on a long-term solution to this problem. that is the latest from the bronx this morning. ben: let's hope they find that long term solution quickly. thank you. police in brooklyn on the hunt for a man face a punch and kick another man so violently that it killed him. this is this surveillance video the two men arguing, this happened early monday morning in

police are looking for the guy in the green shirt, there he is on the left, described as having blonde hair and glasses. the victim, on the right, is 42-year-old as a goose and. he was taken to a nearby hospital and died. liz: please looking for a man who raped an 19-year-old woman sunday. look at this surveillance video. the man working with his shirt partially of is the man they want to question. the woman was walking on rockaway parkway when she was approached by this man who said he had a gun. he pulled her into the back of the building and raped her. the suspect is described wearing blue and white shorts and a white tank top and covered his face with that tee shirt. if you have any information on these stories these call crime stoppers at 800-577-tips. ben: football teams and practices are suspended after hitting allegations rocked a staten island high school. arnold: the football program at susan wagner high school is on

>> it is disheartening in a way because of the work we put in. >> reporter: his parents and plenty of other varsity and junior varsity football players at susan wagner high school in staten island say they are being unfairly punished. the school has suspended our city football practice and games after reports of alleged hazing at a football camp last week upstate. carlos prius is a senior. he says he didn't witness anything but heard about the players goofing around. >> what everyone came for is they built guns and were shooting each other. >> reporter: one parent is alleging upper-class targeted freshman, shooting them with bb or air pellet guns, hitting them with broomsticks, drawing pictures of generals on them with a magic marker and rubbing their behinds in the players' faces when they burst leaping. >> that we kids accused of doing it got suspended. they're off the team.

suspended a volunteer coach, special commissioner of investigations for city public schools is investigating. in the meantime parents here are upset their children will not be able to take the field and play this weekend. >> i don't think the whole team should be punished for something a few individuals did. >> punishing the whole team as a whole makes no sense. next time there is a fight in school the whole school will get in trouble? why not just take care of the people or the children that were involved, not punish the whole team. these are innocent kids. >> reporter: so far the people making the hazing allegations haven't filed a report with police. ben: all schools using the jfk campus will be open the first day of school sept. ninth. the building was damaged by gas explosion that injured three workers. they had been operating science labs at the time of that explosion. new york city officials say the building is structurally sound and air quality poses no risk to students.

bronx, robert moses has the details. >> reporter: there is a small cluster of cases in the last six months in the bronx and the building just behind me is the one that tested positive for legionella bacteria. residents gathered here last night for a community meeting on this issue, they receive flyers and at that point they were told the hot water distribution system for the building has tested positive. water filters will be installed the bacteria and once that turned back on. health department says we for people who live in the melrose houses have come down with legionnaires' disease in the last six months, three have been treated and released, one remains hospitalized. people who live here say they are frustrated they are just now learning about these cases.

earlier this week we learned the convent of the sacred heart on the upper east side, and all girls pull tested positive for it legionella bacteria and this summer there was a huge outbreak, across the city specifically in the south bronx, 12 people died in that outbreak, more than 120 people were sickened and as we come back live the health department says those filters will be installed at this building on portland avenue. for now they want everyone to know that the cold water is safe to use and they are looking at a long-term solution, a long-term disinfection for this problem. that is the latest from the melrose section of the bronx. ben: thank you. the nypd is claiming this has been the city and state this summer in two decades. crime stats show from june through august the number of murders and shootings at the lowest level since the early 90s. despite a rash of shootings at
