all sorts of watches and warnings. a blizzard warning in effect for the red shaded area. it extends down through new jersey tomorrow morning. he goes through tomorrow night into sunday morning. we have winter storm warnings for the pink shaded areas. purple shaded is a winter weather advisory . it will turn pink here before too long. it is all the same thing yesterday . expensive. now it's within 24 hours of happening.the coastal flooding problem is happening from saturday and tide. find out when it's happening in your neighborhood. this is what you should expect is of the full moon with a tied running at 2 and a half 3 and a half feet above normal.

anyone who thinks they will take a big trip , get that out of your mind it's not happening. what is happening is a lot of preparation. here is a look at the numbers. 303,000 tons of rock salt ready. starting this morning, sanitation workers will begin working 12 hour shifts with 2400 workers per shift. 579 salt spreaders will be deployed tonight and once the snow starts to accumulate, 100 650 plows will hit the roads to get rid of it . >> the salt spreader number is higher than it was last year and it will allow us to lay down a brine of salt to keep those accumulations down. subways will keep running during the storm. rewind about one year and remember the governor shut down the system without any coordination with the city before what many thought would be the worst storms

they will be preparing the streets with a liquid salt mixture to prevent the roads rising over. >> it's not just long island. new jersey towards atlantic and cape may are also concerned about coastal flooding and beach erosion. let's go to liz down in belmar with a look at the situation there. liz: the snow in the wind is down at the bottom of the worry list. the top priority is making sure that the area does not flood. the mayor and the rest of the city here have decided to take matters into their own hands because the waves could be as high as 12 feet so they have made these man-made tunes popping up all around the beach to prevent any major flooding. the drawing footage shows the dune construction underway in belmar yesterday. bulldozers were busy pushing the sand to strengthen the dunes . this will be the first line of defense. the mayor of belmar says the dunes are in place and

will hopefully hold out about the weekend. >> it's a great line of defense. they are not too sure what to expect. i recently moved down here and i don't know if the piles of sand are reassuring me or not . >> lots of people in the area have to pack their bags. they remember the drill all too well.a lot of them are still recovering from the storm. back out here live, you can see the boardwalk is brand-new and it's all been replaced after the storm. the worst flooding is expected to hit around high tide which is saturday at 7:00 am. we are told that many received text message alerts let them know about the flooding and the potential dangers here. the mayor has decided not to evacuate the area now but it could change.

we had a clear sky and if you stepped outside this morning, you'll see some sunshine. it will be till this afternoon at the high clouds start working in. this is the area of low pressure and this is a lot of everything in the southeastern state.it will continue to press up and intensify as it comes off the coast in the mid-atlantic region. we will see the wind pick up from the east and there's the cold air in place. it's edging in the blue shades there this evening. 7:00 a.m. and it's still pushing up . it's up towards albany. there is a chance that the east end of long island and parts of the jersey shore might see the mix but it looks like it will keep it as snow. the snow totals are pretty impressive . here is rockland county. it's one 3 inches as you

boroughs of long island and most of new jersey it means in the next 24 hours, they are expecting blizzard conditions like snow , visibility for a three-hour stretch and a significant condition. the winter storm watch is pretty much the same thing. not just as cutdown as a visibility. what's happening is around sussex county it's a winter weather advisory and there is totals there on the lighter side. it will not be as bad in those locations. coastal flooding will be a huge issue. a half 3 and a half feet . there is a persistent wind coming through piling up the waters. you will see the damage

this drone footage shows emergency construction underway. you could see the bulldozer pushing the dunes to stretch more than 1.3 miles to the beachfront. this will protect the home here with a lot of beachfront homes here across the street. neighbors are concerned about flooding and the mayor says he hopes it will all hope up . i recently moved down here and i don't know if these piles are reassuring me or not. >> lots of people had to go bags packed. they remember the drill all too well and a lot are still recovering. back out here, you can see the boardwalk has been rebuilt.
