"fox 35" jackie orozco is live at the volusia county jail with the latest, hi, jackie. >> reporter: good morning, we were the only station to speak with terrell williamson's family and he says he's innocent and the reason why it took him a little bit to turn himself in is because he was looking for a lawyer but again let's take a look at his new mugshot. this is 18-year-old terrell williamson and even though he's smiling he's facing some 3 charges, sexual battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment. his girlfriend daria hill helped him sexually battery a woman 3 times in one week in hill's deland apartment. deputies say it happened on january 1st through the 5th. she was arrested on friday and faced a judge yesterday. now, she remains in jail on $150,000 bond. now, we talked to william's aunt

have down -- we got all the things we need right here. >> reporter: and, again, williamson will be facing a judge later on this morning and we'll let you know what happens. for now reporting live in volusia county, jackie orozco, hamburgers >> tom: almost 8:04 right now. people in southwest florida cleaning up after a tornado tore apart homes damaged cars. take a look at the damage near fort myers in cape coral. you can see that car flipped upside down smashed into a garage and fence is also down and there is debris all over yards in the area. people in the storm's path do gos they got cell phone warnings but they were surprised how quickly the tornado then hit. >> we started seeing, like, lightening and then a big flash in the back and then next thing we know we heard what it sounded like a freight train -- >> like a 747 flying overhead. >> my grandson was outside and i

go to the front -- we have a bouncy house two blocks down the road. >> tom: the storm knocked out power to hundreds of families across collier and lee counties. in other words of anyone hurt, though. all right. if you played and you haven't checked your numbers yet, i have in bad news. nobody won the powerball jackpot last night it just keeps growing, though, more than a billion dollars. more tickets being bought. still again, no lucky winner so with that jackpot likely to go up even more, the drawing again, $1.3 billion. that's the estimate for wednesday night's drawing. the odds still about the same, 1 in 292 million. last night's winning numbers 16, 19, 32, 34, 57, and the powerball 13. we asked some people what they're going to do in they eventually are the ones who win the jackpot.

"fox 35" david williams has more from lake county. >> this mangled mess is what's left after this experimental aircraft crashed into a optimism field. daniel roach says he was in the mountains area moments after the small plane crashed. he heard the rescue chopper. >> i knew something was up and i came over here. >> reporter: the lake county sheriff's ivory says the pilot took off in the nearby ga land land area where the engine began to smoke. investigators say the plane dropped 500 feet from the sky. roach says planes are a common site around here. >> small planes that can, you know, fit two people. >> reporter: roach doesn't know who the pilot was. >> i hope you're all right. >> reporter: the faa is investigating.

nonlife-threatening injuries. at last check he was in stable condition. reporting in lake county david williams, "fox 35 news." >> tom: 8:07 now. new this morning first airlines banned hoverboards and now it looks like the university of central florida is doing the same in dorms. message went up on the ucf facebook pacing yesterday. it says due to safety concerns hoverboards will no longer be allowed to be used, stored or charged in campus-owned or affiliated communities. the message also says students who have one have until this wednesday to remove them from on-campus housing. the post also cites the ongoing products safety investigation of hoverboard-related fires. happening right now, thousands of marathon runners huffing and puffing their way across walt disney world. take a live look at the walt disney world marathon finish line. the course runs through 4 theme parks.

in jail accused of driving under the influence with children in the backseat. melbourne police say they got a call about a wreckless driver saturday night near lake washington and u.s. 1. jacqueline tadriss is accused of speeding and swerving around cars with no headlights on. when she was pulled over she had open containers in the car and they also say there were 4 children in the backseat ranging from 2 to 16 years old. she's also accused of driving on a suspended license and police say she's already on books for a previous dui charge. she's also charged with child neglect. at this hour the u.s. military says a b52 bomber has returned to its base after flying over south korea. they were joined by a f-15. it comes after north korea claimed a nuclear test blast last week and we are waiting to find out what the fbi found when

accused of shooting a philadelphia cop. edward archer is accused of worth shooting at the officer in the name of islam. both men survived. the nypd officer shot friday night continues recovering. new york police commissioner william bratton tweeted this picture. it shows officer sherrod stewart giving a thumb's up from his hospital bed. christopher rice is accused of shooting the 25-year-old officer in the right ankle. stewart returned fire hitting rice four times. rice is in the hospital too. it all happened as the nypd broke up what's called a large street fight. 5 people who were also hospitalized from that fight with stab wounds. 8:15 now. you decide 2016. an advocacy group wants republican presidential candidate donald trump's campaign to apologize. the council on american islamic relations says a muslim woman standing in silent protest was

trump rally in south carolina on friday. now, the group wants trump's campaign to say sorry. and we are following new details this morning on the capture of notorious mexican drug lord joaquin el chapo guzman. his dream being seen on the big screen helped the mexican marines nab him after a deadly shooting that killed 5 people. last year the drug lord met with the actor sean penn for a rolling stone article which was published yesterday. mexican law enforcement say guzman's contact with actors and producers for a supposed bio pic helped law enforcement track him down. guzman has been on the run since prison last summer. by the way, the prison that he's now back in, the same one he escaped from. el chapo's extradition to the u.s. where he faces drug charges in the united states may take up to 6 months.

winds in orlando west-southwest at 6 but already the winds in northern lake county, marion county, alachua county going more west or northwest and we can find where the front is by looking at the dew points. it's a level in the moisture in the atmosphere. the lower the dew point the less humidity we have. much lower dew points in ocala and gainesville and every else as we go through the day you'll see the humidity and feel the humidity start to decrease. temperature-wise, yeah, temperatures predominantly in the 60s right now even some low 70s in the i-4 cornered -- corridor. 61 cool degrees newspaper gainesville so the cold front is coming on through, temperatures behind the front, 20s, 30s, 40s, even 2 below in omaha but then you factor in the wind look at these wind chills. incredible, coldest time of the year, 10 below st. louis, 12 below omaha. wind chill right now, 29 in birmingham, alabama.

"fox 35" jackie orozco is at the vish county jail with more. >> reporter: 18-year-old terrell williamson had a smile on his face when he took his new mugshot. he's been arrested before for narcotics and having a concealed weapon. but this time he's charged with 3 counts of sexual battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment. sheriff's deputies say

battered a woman 3 times in her apartment. williamson held the victim at gunpoint. hill was arrested on friday and faced the judge yesterday. >> all right. miss hill, you are charged with sexual battery on a helpless person, there's probable cause that you committed that crime. >> reporter: she remains in jail on $150,000 bond. her mother was in court to defend her daughter. >> whatever they have her charged with is not the truth. >> reporter: the williamson's aunt was defending her nephew and say he's innocent. >> i feel like it's messed up. justice will be served. they can cry later but we got all the proof we have right here. >> tom: it is 8:34 now. an elderly man from osceola county is dead after crashing his car into a retention pond. it happened on neptune road near meadow springs court. troopers say the 82-year-old kissimmee man left the roadway, went down a grassy embankment

in volusia county a substitute teacher is accused of threatening her students with violence if they didn't pay attention in her class. police say it happened@an elementary school in daytona beach. school officials say the sub told her students if they did not listen to her someone would come to school and shoot them with an ak47 assault rifle. she's also accused of saying she had a key to the classroom and that she would let the gunman in to shoot the children between their eyes in they didn't behave. school district officials have alerted daytona beach police. the state fire marshal's office looking into a marion county fire in which 4 animals were rescued. fire crews went to a house in the silver springs shores area of ocala yesterday. now, as firefighters were working to put out the flames, deputies who were already on scene before the fire happened say a person jumped out a window and was apprehended. they don't say much more about that, though. i wish we could give you more details why they apprehended

firefighters saved 3 rabbits as you can see and a turtle. state fire marshal is investigating. this morning, a 1-year-old boy is recovering after a pit bull bit him in volusia county. the sheriff's office says the boy's mother and her son was playing outside their home on friday night. the dog bit the boy on the face and head. the mom told deputies the attack was not provoked and that she had been feeding the homeless dog for about a month. animal control officials are still looking for that dog. could we one day see drones in the skies above walt disney world resort. our news partners at the "orlando sentinel" report the park wants to use drones during fireworks shows. disney filed an application with the faa asking to allow drones to fly over commercial spaces. disney say the drones would stay over the fireworks zone and not over park guests. this week marked 1 year since florida legalized same-sex marriage.

"fox 35" ryan elijah talked about the anniversary with the "orlando sentinel." >> reporter: and let's talk more about this renee from the "orlando sentinel" joining us to talk more about it. renee good to see you. >> you too. >> reporter: it's an interesting article this road you have gone down. there's so many things that transpired of the year. what did you actually dig into for this story some >> well, we thought we should tell people how many same-sex couples are getting married now. that's more difficult than we anticipated. the state does not keep track and only a limited number of clerks of courts. those are people who actually issue the marriage licenses keep track by sex so we decided to compare year 2015 numbers to 2014 numbers and we had numbers for the first 9 months of 2015 so that's what we went with and what we found in florida statewide, the number of marriage licenses issued is up 13%. if you go back a year beyond

people are getting married in florida. >> reporter: i think a lot of people would be fascinated that they don't keep track of that but yet the numbers are still up this year? >> um, i think it's an obvious conclusion you can you can make that a very substantial portion of that increase is same-sex marriage couples. >> reporter: when you look -- i know part of the story looks at in the pending bills in tallahassee as well protection for pastors, doctors, other things as well, what all is included in that? >> one of the bills that made a progress in the house it's a path to protection act and it would shield ministers from legal action should, um, they morally oppose marrying same-sex couples. it was sponsored by longwood republican scott plaken, florida the gay and lesbian advocacy group opposes it.

need for protection because ministers' rights are protected under the first amendment. they can and can expect not to face all sorts of challenges. >> reporter: so many things stand out as well. anything that stood out to you, renee, when you were looking at all these facts that were different from year-to-year. >> yes, i was really struck at some national numbers. as you are in june the u.s. supreme court made a ruling it says any state that bans same-sex marriage you're violating the constitutional rights of gays and lesbians so an organization, um, at the ucla school of law reports -- i'm looking down at some numbers here, reports that in 2013, 21% of same-sex couples in america were married. in october, just after that u.s. supreme court decision, 45% was married. >> reporter: wow! >> so you see an incredible

say a domestic argument led to shots fired last night. it happened just before 10:00 on piedmont street. cops say somebody shot at a car 3 to 4 times. police say they do have a suspect and they are looking for him right now. nobody was there. state troopers are working to identify a driver killed in a crash early this morning. it happened just after midnight on u.s. 1 at cedar grove road in oak hill. the patrol says a dodge pickup driver lost control and hit a tree. the truck burst into flames after impact. and developing this morning, federal investigators involved after a pilot crashed his plane in clermont. "fox 35" david williams has more from lake county. >> reporter: this mangled mess is what's left after this experimental aircraft crashed into an open field. the lake county sheriff's office shows the wreckage. daniel roach shows he was in the area moments after the small plane crashed. he heard the rescue chopper.
