i'm gina beitez thanks for waking up with us! we are working on this morning. first-- daytona police say they've arrested a man... in connection to a deadly double shooting. the two victims were killed outside a nightclub on new year's eve. we have the latest details on the arrest. plus-- brooks! it's a sad day in the music world. officials announcing rock legend david bowie has died, at the age of 69. we've got the details.

beach make an arrest... in the shooting death of two men outside of a nighclub. 30-year-old anthony dawson is being held at the volusia county jail without bond, charged with two counts of first degree murder. authorities say this whole thing happened at the "biarritz club" on pearl street, near bethune-cookman in daytona beach. investigators say three men were involved in a fight outside the nightclub when shots were fired- two men died and another man was injured. police also issued an arrest warrant for 40-year-old andre mayo in connection with the shooting deaths. he's also facing two counts of first degree murder. mayo though is still on the run. breaking news right now-- the world of music has lost an icon. singer david bowie has passed away at the age of 69. a family representative says bowie died "peacefully" early this morning-- surrounded by his family.

eighteen months. the singer turned 69 last friday... the same day he released a new album called "blackstar." bowie-- who was born david jones-- came of age in the glam rock era of the early 1970s. he released dozens of hit songs in his more than 50-year career. in a statement... bowie's family asked for "privacy in this time of grief." new this morning-- troopers are investigating a deadly crash in orange county. the crash involved a car and a pedestrian. it happened just before 10-30 last night on pine hills road and white heron drive. troopers say a man was pronounced dead at the scene. pine hills road was closed down for some time... but has since reopened. we are told the driver did stay on scene. charges are pending. and another deadly crash in lake county leaves an elderly man dead. this one happened on county road 439 and county road 42. lake county deputies say the crash involved two cars. 80-year-old pedro camargo died in the accident. camargo's passenger and the other driver have minor injuries.

happening today-- orlando mayor buddy dyer will be sworn-in for his fourth full term. the "oath of office" for the mayor and city commissioners is set to begin at three this afternoon... at the doctor philips center for the rn arts. everyone is invited to attend today's celebration. a news alert now-- republican presidential candidates are weighing in on last week's shooting of a philadelphia police officer-- calling it an "act of terror." this comes as the f- b-i investigates two trips the suspect made to the middle east. fox's kelly wright,

developing now-- volkswagen is cleaning up its act. the new chief executive has requested a meeting with environmental officials. he has plans... to fix v-w diesel engines that were d to cheat on emissions tests. on the road-- the vehicles spew out more harmful gas than advertised. volkswagen will present its ideas for a solution... to the "environmental protection agency" on wednesday. an investigation is underway-- after a man is hit and killed on the train tracks in downtown orlando! that story kicks off the morning rush. this happened on the tracks between colonial and concord. that's about 2 miles north of the amtrak station in orlando. orlando police say the train hit 26- year-old samuel perez around 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. perez died at the scene. amtrak says perez was trespassing when he was on the tracks. the deadly crash delayed the train for about 3 hours-- there were almost 200 people on board. passengers we

heard the tragic news. orlando police say amtrak is cooperating with the investigation. ties say the incident appears to be a suicide. in brevard county-- the search for high-tech. sending out drones above indian harbour beach to look for coyote dens. all this after a coyote was caught on a security camera snatching a pet-cat on new year's day. trappers say the drones will try to map the movements of coyotes in the area, to help wildlife officials re-locate them to a safer place. we now know the name of a kissimmee man who died-- after crashing his car into a retention pond. the crash happened saturday, along neptune road and meadow spring court. state troopers say 82-year-old jack bussard lost control of his car... traveled down an embankment and into

his car sank underwater. he died on scene. a severe weather alert now-- crews are working to restore power to areas of cape coral.-- after an e- f-2 tornado hits the area. the storm caused an estimated 5 and a half million dollars of damage to homes saturday night. but that number is expected to hit 10 million after the number of downed power lines is counted. its still unknown whether florida will need federal dollars to recover. no deaths are being reported, but three people have minor injuries. governor rick scott is crediting smart phones for saving lives... and says it could have been a lot worse.

displaced during dangerous flooding in mississippi. they're sending over one hundred dogs and cats to florida-- to find them forever homes. officials took 105 dogs and 3 cats from a shelter yesterday--in an area in mississippi that's expected to flood. heavy rain is causing the flooding there... especially in cities downstream from the mississippi river. shelters from all over florida are taking the animals-- including one in marion county. in all, 8 organizations in florida helped to place those animals. turning now to sports-- it was a big weekend for the n-f-l-- as teams gear up for the divisional playoffs.
