crash at 434 on douglas avenue. causing pretty significant delays on 434. use caution in that area as well if you are out in altamonte springs. i-4 westbound from lake mary to colonial will take you 18 minutes. from the attractions to downtown, takes you 13 minutes. the 408 is up to speed 1 happening right now, the orlando police department is collecting blankets and coats to keep homeless people warm during this cold weather. >> amy: fox 35's jackie orozco is outside of opd headquarters where we're seeing a little activity out there now. good morning, jackie. >> reporter: good morning. orlando police officers just took out the two bins you can see right here. we already have people donating. a woman donated scarfs, gloves, and a sweater. she said she was in a little bit of a hurry, but this is called the blanket and coat drive through. they're trying to make it easy

to drop off. opd headquarters, huely and pine street, at the corner here. it's very cold here. in the 40s. and it's into the 20s in gainesville. a homeless man said a he saw on the news, and he wanted to get a sweater because it's tough during the cold months. and police officers will be putting the coats and warm weather gear in the cruisers. they'll be distributing them as needed while out on the street. again, this drive is from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. you come here real quickly and drop off your stuff. orlando police say there's a great need. reporting live in downtown orlando, jackie orozco, fox 35 news. >> john: a driver hit a 3-year-old boy with a car and took off. >> amy: the car was abandoned a few blocks away.

the police said that the car clipped the boy after the boy's brother brought him an ice cream from an ice cream truck. they treated. bill illinois at the -- the little boy at the hospital, and he is expected to be okay. the police will search for evidence in the car. >> amy: a group broke into a house on broken pine circle and held up three people while stealing from them. deputies said one of the victims suffered minor injuries but will be okay. investigators don't have descriptions of the suspects right now. keep it here on fox 35 for the latest. >> john: in marion county, deputies need your help finding a local teenager with autism. she never returned home from school yesterday. one of the deputies spotted 17-year-old margaret lehman walking away from bellevue high school at 9:00 a.m. the deputy took her back to school then but she never

now just a few clouds, especially south and east of i-4 towards southern osceola and brevard counties. on radar it looks like rain. if i didn't know what i was doing here, we would think it was heavy rainfall. but it's a winter time phenomena known as virga. with precipitation in the atmosphere not reaching the ground. pretty cool stuff. we have no rain until maybe late thursday night into friday. we warm with the system coming in. it looks like friday could be a washout with rain and the possibility of strong thunderstorms. outside this morning, looking live at downtown. a beautiful, beautiful shot. isn't that? 43 degrees. north, northwest winds at 7 miles per hour. through the day today and through the day tomorrow we're going to continue with north, and northwest winds bringing in the cool, dry air. a long period swell at the

68 degrees. late thursday into friday morning we could see a period of rough weather with thunderstorms possible in central florida. we'll be on the air with any kind of information you need to know, and the rest of friday could be a wash out. temperatures back on friday back into the 70s. >> gina: i-4 east of the 536 there's a crash in the center median causing significant delays on both sides. i-4 i-4 east eastbound and westbound. if you are there, use a lot of caution. this just happened a few minutes ago. i will keep my eye on that. and another crash at kirkman road and colonial drive. causing significant delays both directions there. again, use caution in the area. another new crash at lee vista on econtrail. causing delays. a partial roadblock there. use caution in the area.

chronic kidney disease. those individuals taking ppis had a 50% increase over time of developing chronic kidney disease. it was not a cause and effect relationship but a observational study. they are very concerned about the proton pump inhibitors have been linked to other things. pneumonia, reducing the gastic acid. they're worried more bacteria can populate. and an intestinal type of infection by bacteria, and increase of fractures and increase of osteoporosis. >> amy: what should patients do? obviously, you have to treat? so where do you go for help. >> reporter: you're absolutely right. but they estimate that 20 to 75% are taking them unnecessarily. if you take them, go back, re-evaluate, and see if you still need them. one of the things that was

telling from them. if they took the twice a day versus the once a day, it increases the risk more. that's why they think it may be linked. could be linked to an an imflammatory condition in the kidneys and maybe lower magnesium. make sure that that magnesium doesn't get low. and the other thing we remember is that the vast majority of reflux is caused by people being overweight. you have so much pressure on the abdomen, pushing the stomach and the acid up. if a lot of people would try to do a lot of things, eat healthier, lose weight, and exercise. perhaps they won't need it anymore. all of these things come to play when you think about taking a medication. absolutely, yes, if you need it, you should take it. we have seen an increased number of individuals with esoph

parkway. not causing significant delays this morning, but use caution out there again this morning. another crash at state road 434 at douglas. this has just cleared up but as you can see, it's causing significant delays in the area. take your time this morning. a lot of recent crashes on the roadway. i-4 eastbound, the attractions to downtown, 16 minute. on the 408, 417 to downtown, 12 minutes right now. >> john: developing in jacksonville, new charges being considered after authorities said they found the remains of missing toddler lonzie barton. >> fox 35's andrea jackson has more on how the remains were found. >> lonzie's motherlonna barton, and her boyfriend have been charged with child neglect and lying to officers. the boyfriend led the investigators to remains found

people who took an atm. they were dressed up as comic book characters. they sented us these pictures from a business near griffin park near cocoa. they dressed in dead pool hood hees. they took the atm and put it in the back of the stolen van. they couldn't get it out of the back of the parking lot. they left it in the van. someone picked them up in a white chevy tahoe. >> john: a homeowner shot at a burglary suspect. >> they are releasing the video of the suspect and the car they believe is the getaway vehicle. they heard a noise in the garage and found a man stealing something out of the garbage. the homeowner fired a round at the suspect. it's not known if the suspect was hit by the bullet. call 1800-432-tips if you have any information.

>> john: a teenager accused of running down a orlando police officer, they're trying to determine if that teenager should have bond. they are asking to keep him behind bars. kelty is accused of running over anderson after the officer stopped the car that kelty was in. keltyary attorney said that he was trying to steer away when anderson fell. >> amy: a convicted sex offender assaulted and killed one of the women has learned his fate. he has been charged to 45 years in prison. he pled guilty to first degree murder, aggravated assault and kidnapping. he picked up prostitutes on separate occasions last year and one of those women was pregnant. >> amy: a candlelight vigil for someone shot and killed outside of his business in sanford. the vigil at 7:00 p.m. at kim's food store.

he wants to press had i agenda for gun control. he wants to make it a platform. listen, the democrats have horrible candidate this is year, whether it's bernie sanders, whether it's o'malley, it's hillary clinton, with horrible candidates that don't know how to frame a debate. what then't president is doing is framing a debate. not offering heavy political analysis today or policy today, he has to circumvent the congress, usurp the power of the people in order to promote his gun control. as a matter of fact, on my facebook page, carl jackson radio, i have a page of useful illegal and legal executive orders for everyone to look at. the president's goal is just to set the agenda. he wants to give democrats something for fight for. he has to make the nation mad at something. and gun control is a big one this year, quite frankly. >> john: according to the

number, a lot of voters disagree with the gun control initiatives. now those in office neefd to go back and identify their actions. do they stay with them or do what the voters want. an interesting dynamic for them. >> i think this year they stay with him. they have to have something to fight for. that's why he see movements like black lives matter, gun control, president obama pushing amnesty. he has to make democrats people like they're being treated unfairly. make them mad to rile up the base. that's what the left does. they connect emotionally to get them mad. he is hoping to persuade democrats in congress to follow his plan. in essence, solidify his legacy over the years. but it'll be a tough one. >> john: one thing a president is supposed to do during the last year in office is to make sure that the stage is set for the next candidates, in this

case, bernie sanders or hillary clinton. what does he do tonight to set the stage to get the campaigns going. hillary is having big problems right now. >> he needs to prop them up. he has no not focus on himself. he has to focus on the best interest of the country. then portray the image that, listen, the people on our side of the aisle, whether it's hillary clinton, or bernie sanders, or o'malley, or someone coming in later, they offer the best agenda for america. despite the fact that he's taking liberties away. he has to make americans feel good about america again, and feel good go the left, and has to pretend as if his presidency didn't divide the country. he gave the speech about not a red america, a blue america, but the united states of america been unfortunately, we feel like a divided america as a result of

>> john: a 3-year-old girl in a man es a care ate synthetic marijuana. they arrested the man on sunday. clark had the drug in his pocket. at some point the girl took it out and ate it. the deputies say that the child had to be treated in the hospital. she is expected ton ox. clark -- she is expected to be okay. lark is in jail on $20,000 bond. >> amy: be abigail lee kemp was arrested in friday in atlanta. they were able to identify her after surveillance photos were released to the public. they examined records from cellphone towers and were able to track her phone in several states. another person was arrested but the fbi has not released their identity. >> john: authorities let cameras go into the home the drug kingpin el chapo was hiding in before he was caught. >> amy: there are bullet holes and clothes and electronics everywhere.
