8:12 am
but $399 for a 2 -night stay. you can do a lot of sports activities not on the mountain itself. beautiful resort and great price point, as well. >> if you've got an extended amount of time, go to check out boston. i used to live in boston, as well, for a while. beautiful city and the skiing is only a couple hours away. all the states up there get really small so it's easy to get from one of the other. >> yeah, if you're doing a big city escape, you can tack on a couple days, go skiing. mainly this is flatter terrain so a lot of snow sug, cross country skiing, but the content sensual snow skiing experience. >> we have a link to travel zoo on that website. >> good skiing, right? get away from all this sunshine. basically there's some good ground swell. so i'd rather be out in the atlantic than anywhere at elevation.

hope you're having a good wednesday morning. much warmer than yesterday. temperatures in the mid-40s to the north and west. upper 40s and low 50s right now in the i-4 corridor, same thing with brevard. still chilly by florida standards today, but it would be as cold the last couple days. we'll start to warm tomorrow, especially friday and saturday. what i want to focus on today, what kind happen friday morning with rain, thunderstorms and the possibility of squally if not severe weather. outside right now, looking livef from our visit orlando tower cam, gorgeous morning. a lot of high clouds out there, and the high clouds, they serve as a blanket that keeps overnight lows a little mild. all these high clouds compliments of el nino. not the movie. it's a weather phenomenon. a lot of the moisture in the pacific ocean just streams all across central america and across florida. that's why we have the clouds. i want you to watch the

8:25 am
had purely clear skies. warming up today w into the mid-60s, north winds coming in 5 to 10 miles an hour. still chilly. temperatures below normal by florida standards, but we'll take it. warmer and wilder weather coming later this week. full forecast coming up. for now, here's gina. >> hi, there. happy wednesday, everybody. the moochule roadways this morning are pretty quiet. this is on nar doe and leava. you can see partially blocked, causing minor delays in that area. use caution if you are taking that roadway. this other new crash, in osceola on the 192, near world drive, delays. this just happened. use caution again if you are out there this morning. i-4 eastbound and westbound are slow, neland to colonial are taking 12 minutes from i-4 eastbound to downtown. that's going to take you 18 minutes right now. at the five twapth, looking great. that's it for your traffic, back to you guys.

ball jackpot is about to get even bigger. tonight when the numbers are drawn, you're looking at $1.5 billion. you remember the last drawing, it went up like an extra 200,000. >> 200 million. >> yeah, 200 million. >> fox 35's andrea jackson is live with more on tonight's drawing and andrea, we're looking at some of the lines across the country. people are going crazy. that number is gonna go higher. >> yeah, no kidding. thousands, millions. if you hit the big one tonight, you don't care what you're counting the numbers in. in fact, last saturday, florida had over a million winners in the power ball, different numbers. one person won a million dollars and some of the other winnings were like 50,000, $100. no ticket is discarded. this happened to be a mistake and it's up for grabs here at the 711. so we're gonna maybe buy this one and see how we do. they're never thrown away, always random. and here's what we're gonna do.
8:27 am
i want you to post your favorite lucky numbers on my facebook page and at 9:ten, we're gonna fill this out and if we hit the big with your favorite numbers and we'll donate it to your favorite charity, whether it's you or somebody else. we have a better chance of becoming president of the u.s. than winning this power ball. our odds are one in 292 million. we'll quick pick and do what we can and hopefully pick a winner come the 9:00 hour. >> president obama expresses reget in his final state of the union speech. he says if there's one thing he could change, he wishes the two parties would work together better in congress. >> it's one of the few regrets of my presidency, that the rancor and suspicion between the parties has got were instead of better. i have no doubt, a president
8:28 am
roosevelt, might have better bridged the divide. and i guarantee i'll keep trying to be better so long as i hold this office. >> let's bring in political analyst and former congressman rick keller. appreciate you being here today. i want to talk about that one part in particular where he says things are that bad in congress, the two sides can't work together. is that real? is that really how bad it is up there? you saw it. what's the story? >> it is kind of like that, and president obama's not unique. gorge w. bush, when he was leaving office, said about the same thing. you come in here with the likability against the shuck and jive and cajole female and you think you can win people over to your side, and it's not that way. and one of the reasons it is that way, if you're a conservative democratic and you vote with the republicans, you're gonna get blasted in the next campaign because you're probably in that republican district. and if you're a republic and you vote with democrats, you're
8:29 am
party with attack ads. so it makes it really tough for people not to play to their base sometimes. >> yeah, but i'm reading a history book right now about congress and president's, and it seems like it's always been this way. is that just the talking point to say we can't get along so i can't get anything done. >> i was there eight years. i can tell you it was that way when i was there and it doesn't mean there's personal dislike. you can't get a lot of stuff done because a lot of people are scared to meet in the middle. i have lunch every day with democrats and i go out and drink beers with them and they're friendly to each other and i guarantee there's people in washington right now who are friendly but not coming together on policy. >> i was very curious about governor nicky haleigh giving the republican response, saying she's positioning herself as a vp candidate. >> all positive.
8:30 am
likelihood is a vp candidate will come out of florida or ohio since those are the two big >> good to see you. appreciate it. we'll talk to you soon. >> still ahead this morning, restaurant workers jumping for joy and then they quit their jobs when they thought they won the power ball jackpot. we'll explain how they made that massive mistake, coming up. also this morning, this in history, january 13, 1957, that the whammo company developed its first frisbee. the flying disk came about in the 1920's when the students tossed pie disks. what did whammy first name the toy before they changed the name
8:31 am
8:32 am
8:33 am
. the whammo company developed the very first frisbee in 1957. yale students played catch by tossing metal pie tins from the frisbee baking company. >> no clue. >> that's fascinating. what was the toy first named before changing it to frisbee a year later? they came out with it with a different name, the pluto platter, the saturn stunner, or the venus flier? which one do you think they named it? at the time there was kind of an obsession with ufo's and out of space stuff. they have a little theme going. what do you think was the original name of the frisbee? >> i have no idea. let's have this morning playing center square for us, jared, the vp of development for feeding
8:34 am
what do you do in ten seconds or less? >> we donate a hunger project and assemble healthy meals all over the world. >> and we've got our projects and assembly lines right over here. >> he's a smart kid, and i know he knows the answer. what do you think it is? >> i'm gonna go with the saturn stunner. >> the saturn stunner. i think that sounds made up by andy. okay. david thinks it's made up. but jared, right? >> he could be. what do you think, ryan? >> everybody knows the pluto platter is the kid's meal at disney. i do think it was the saturn stunner. i seem to remember venus flyer so i'm going c, venus flyer. >> what say eugena and brooks?
8:35 am
>> let's see, a 1927? >> 1957. 1920 is when they were playing with the pie tins. >> i think venus flyer. i don't know. >> you do convenience. i'll do pluto. i like pluto. >> yeah, women are from pluto. men are from convenience? >> mars. we should have had mars in there. >> a lot of people don't realize this, but derek yale, that is the only place they could grow the convenience fly traps because the climate is perfect in that area and so they grew everywhere and went with the convenience flyer as an omaj to --. >> you made that up. that's not true. is that your guess, though? convenience? >> man, brooks is smart. it was the pluto platter. there's the pluto platter on the left.
8:36 am
old frisbee pie pan looked like that they would play at yale. that's fascinating. cranever knew there was a frisbee pie baking company. but anyway. i feel so blessed to win this game once again. good morning, everybody. no, that's the truth. that's the truth. convenience fly traps are grown in south carolina, as well. outside right now, we do have cloudy skies this morning. work, school scull, maybe go out and play, temperatures milder. still going to be cool by central florida standards. temperatures starting off in the low to mid-40s north and west of i-4. around 50 degrees, orange county, brevard, and along a one a. so again, with highs in the 60s again, it will be chilly by central florida standards, starting to warm up tomorrow, but especially friday and saturday, much warmer friday. we're gonna dive into detail on friday in just a minute. could be a mild weather morning. outside right now, another live view from our visit orlando tower cam.
8:37 am
are we looking at universal studios there? >> i believe so. >> absolutely. good view. can't waitage the park opens and i can see the people riding on the roller coasters maybe. i don't know. could be interesting stuff there. here's what's going on right now. high clouds last night and they'll continue through the day. el nino, the really strong el nino we're dealing with is putting a lot of moisture in the atmosphere and it continues to stream across central america and mexico and then across florida. what's going to happen is this. today and tomorrow, we stay dry. tomorrow here, wind in the northeast but look in the gulf of mexico. a storage system develops in the gulf of mexico tomorrow, heads towards us. friday morning, 6:00 in the morning, that storm system will have a warm front developing and as it comes towards and through central florida friday morning through the midday hours, we could be seeing a lot of heavy rain, a lot of wind for sure, and the possibility of strong to severe thunderstorms. let's put it into focus, then. i want to time it out for you.
8:38 am
i want to show you the squaw forecast, the best likelihood that we'll see organized strong to severe possible thormentz. right now, 3 or 4 m: in the morning. the best activity still offshore, but as we go through the 6 or 7:00 hours friday morning, even to the 8, 9 and 10:00, that's when we see the best dynamics for strong thunderstorms as we go through friday morning, friday afternoon, we start to clear out. let's get the forecast for today. 65 degrees, the high this afternoon. overnight right now, upper 40s and low 50s. and the iq weather, 7 -day forecast, 65 today. we warm up a little bit tomorrow. 70 degrees friday morning. keep an eye here. jayme king, myself, maybe, will be in friday morning, give you all the latest with guard kwln live weather radar if indeed we do see severe weather baby. >> hazardy, what a beautiful little baby hazardy? and you are so loved. i'm sure you love by mom and dad and all your family.

>> jenny is joining us this morning with scoop. good morning, good to see you. >> good morning, guys. >> all right. let's talk about james harden. we're talking basketball players. not happy about lamar living with chloe. i'm way behind on this story. was out of the hospital. >> he is. he is. and the bad news about all of this is that chloe wants to take -- and bring him home, to her house. and the thing is that he can't speak up about. he's like, this is not what i signed up for. this is more than i can handle, but at the same time, my hands are tied. i love her. and i'm willing to roll with the punches and i so don't agree with this. obviously, he's afraid that, you know, that little thing between lamar and chloe may come back up and her house, really, you can get him an apartment or

8:42 am
didn't really have bad nepgdzs. if he did have bad intentions, he would have been a little more surprised. >> and jenny, you make a face and don't even realize you made it. he probably didn't even realize the face he made and how bad it looked. especially when you play it over and over and over and over again. so then it looks really bad. >> actors don't like when singers come in and steel the awards show. they don't like it. it's a snooty group. >> but she wanted to be an actress before she wanted to be a singer. >> but she's a singer who won an acting award and hollywood's not happy. i'm standing on my opinion. all right, jenny. great to see you. have a great wednesday. we'll see you soon. talk about your highs and lows. >> wow. this is the fun. i did my best, funniest story of the day. the mistake that led a group of
