9:01 am
what should you be taking instead? we're gonna talk about that. >> good morning to you, guys. at the thirst annual, the special event. the world's largest event planning convention and it's about to get crazy here in an hour. we've got some of the latest trends in decor and everything day orlando." thank you. high five. >> let's talk about what's happening out there. look at that massively powerful radar behind you. wow wow. imagine the weather center being encompassed and covered by that. impressive. starting out this morning, the 9:00 hour numbers in, 51 orlando, 53 melbourne brevard, 46 in gainesville, everybody much warmer than this time yesterday and that's good news. it's still gonna be chilly today by central florida standards with highs in the 60s. we have a lot of cloud cover, mid and high level cloud cover
9:02 am
today so not as sunny as we have been the last few days. look for high temperatures in the low to mid-60s for the most part. 65 in downtown orlando with the clouds. sun peaks through now and then so that will be good news. but no rain in sight. we'll have the full 7 -kay forecast, including a look at what kind be an interesting friday morning, coming up. ten u.s. navy sailors detained by iran have now been freed. >> we have the brand new developments. >> about five hours ago, just about 4:00 when all this went down, the sailors were taken to ship here. they were then headed to a nearby aircraft carrier. we're getting our first look at the nine men and one female soldier. 1 or 2 in the back did manage at least half a smile, but probably a very long night for them. this drama began yesterday with two u.s. navy ships, traveling between kuwait and bahrain in the persian gulf.
9:03 am
that's how nay ended up in iranen waters. iran seized the ship and detained the soldiers. they confiscated the u.s. there's been no indication that any of the sailors were harmed. there was a military official that told fox the boats were in route, but did not explain some of the issues like was already fixed. the key this morning, they're all back safe. >> developing in cocoa this morning, one robber is shot. another still on the run after a store clerk turns the table on the suspects. >> it happened about 8:00 last night at the chevron station along south cocoa boulevard. police say when the officers got to the scene, they found a clerk had shot and wounded one of his suspects during that robbery. the clerk says he was able to fire at the second suspect as he was driving away. the suspect that was shot was going to the hospital. in this video here, you can see a gun and shoe laying on the ground. no word yet on a condition this morning. also this morning, families of the store owner gunned down as
9:04 am
asking for your help to solve his murder. >> they are getting clews closer to find witnesses who were the alive. the shooting happened on details. >> the green hill church choir sang songs about god's grace, compassion, and love. 63 -year-old joshua hurr was an elder at the orlando church. tuesday night, sanford residents and pastors gathered at a store where he was murdered december 23rdrd. people who knew him are standing together, hoping for justice. >> someone would be open enough, as was mentioned many times tonight, they would have the courage to step up and if they saw, heard, seen something, that they would bring it to life. >> people lit candles and prayed for immigrant turned business owner. caleb is the victim's son. he thanked police and pastors for their support. >> my dad was a good man.
9:05 am
he didn't deserve what happened to him. >> police want to talk to two men and a woman who were inside the convenience store shortly before mr. hurr was shot to death. police say they've identified the woman. >> the information given to us is that they are again considered people or witnesses. so they're not subjects. >> speakers praised this man who worked hard to support his family and to spread his faith. police say they need the violence. the family hopes something good can come of this tragedy. >> i just pray to god that we bring justice and peace to us all. >> --ing right now, this is in orange county this morning. deputies are looking for a missing deaf woman, 33 -year-old louisa was last seen walking away from her home in orlando after having an argument with her family. her family's worried about her because she's both deaf and mute. when she walked off, she was wearing a white shirt, black pants and a blue coat.
9:06 am
anyone with information is asked to call the orange county sheriff's office. the president delivered the final state of the union address last night. >> he made it clear that america is as powerful as ever, but admitted he'll leave the oval office with unfinished business and regrets. >> it's one of the few regrets of my presidency that the rancor and suspicion between the parties has gotten worse instead of better. >> democratic political analyst earnest is here today with more on the president's speech. >> okay. the president admits the country now more divided than when he became president. what are you thoughts on that? we had a former congressman on in the last hour. this is nothing new. what are your thoughts? >> i think what's happened is there have been a number of things that have been exposed. unfortunately, during this president's administration, whether it's criminal justice or race relation issues, police brutality and others that have frankly forced to us deal with
9:07 am
issues navb long been present but we couldn't have imaginedism think about what happened in charleston some months ago and what happened when the community came together as a country. it was a great moment to remove a symbol of hatred and division. that was a brief moment of the type of unity this country has been built on and we can look forward to as a president and yet it was a bit of an island in what has been eight years as keller's pointed out, a number of years of dis cord and disagreement. >> you and i are gonna talk about it on my weekend show on saturday, but one of the jobs of the president during his final year in office when he's going to be leaving is to set the stage stage. did he outline anything last night that would pave the way for them to become the next president? >> i think he did, and i hope they paid close attention. if you look back to the election in 2000, 1 of the mistakes many democrats will now admit is that
9:08 am
do is attach himself positively to the legacy of bill clinton. and i think it's clear that the democratic candidate needs to make sure they pay attention to the victories of this president in spite of their regret and remorse he may have in his time. and he did lay that out. he reminded us, on his watch, we saved the economy, the auto industry, killed bin laden, brought healthcare legislation to millions of americans who couldn't get healthcare. we made it possible that anyone in any state in the united states can marry the person they love, irrespective of sex and orientation. what he also did is laid out and spoke clearly, though implicitly, about donald trump. stay away from division, dissension. one of the great moments is when paul ryan, speaker of the house stood up scpo plodded when president obama said, as did his republican colleagues fernings when president obama said we can't use politics to attack on
9:09 am
the basis of race or something, something i think we can all agree on. but that was a direct shot on donald trump when he made the comment about we can't carpet bomb the me go. we've gotta make sure we're thoughtful and intentional in our occasion. that's another shot at donald trump. so i think he's providing not only a track record of success the democrats can rely on and move forward with, but also looking at the division, the discord, the disagreement that frankly the republican primary has been as a basis. what we don't want to do is democrats. >> and then donald trump said the beach was boring. >> of course, because he wasn't there. new reports say that theme parks, stepping up security now. they're hiring additional security personnel in an effort to protect guests from dangerous situations. the parkers haven't released a lot of details yet, but experts say we can expect the parks to hire hundreds of new staff members.
9:10 am
the parks have been cracking down and even added metal detecters to many of the entrances. coming up next for the lottery, warning you now about a power ball scam. >> what you need to be aware of before buying that ticket. plus, good morning, david. >> ooh, food, decor, entertainment. glow name it, if you need it for an event, the special event convention down here at the orange county convention center, they've got it for two days. my friend john here runs flulter fety worldwide. >> we make fun, have fun first, we don't make fun, nobody else does. >> all very nice, hand held confetti throwers. >> and you've got the latest and greatest in confetti technology. what is this? .interviewer: this is a continuous snow blower.

9:15 am
so are you gonna share some of the pie for me? >> if you hear of it, come and see us. >> okay. >> how about that, he's giving away the farm over here. fantastic. >> i'm not mine, but i'm sure mary will share. >> he's giving away other people's money. >> oh, he's gotta pay for the ticket. oh, you paid her already. >> yes, i'm ahead of schedule. >> this could either be the most expensive cup of coffee or the cheapest. >> but if the store gets it, don't i get free coffee for at least a year. >> is that true? >> so all morning long, i've been tell jog tew share your lucky numbers with me. here's my $2, the right ticket there. so she's gonna put that in here. so the numbers are 7 and 11 which is facilitating because we're here at the 711.
9:16 am
13, today happens to be the 13th. i believe we've picked 23 and 36 and then our power ball number, i picked as 26 because that's one of the most winning power ball numbers of all time. there you go, ladies and gentlemen. if you happen to be lucky enough for me to choose your lucky number, i could be sharing a piece of pie with you. i'm just saying. and terry, will i get free coffee? >> sure. >> how much have you sold so far this morning. >>. >> last check, almost 700. and how much have you been doing a day? >> a little over 4,000, just power ball. >> what's it been like for you? >> it's been insane, crazy. very busy. i've been putting in long, long hours because i'm here in the morning, going home for a couple hours, coming back to help them. >> you're ready for somebody to win? >> i'm definitely ready for somebody to win. >> very good. >> can't happen soon enough. >> thank you so much. you've been so kind to let us
9:17 am
hang out here at the 711 all morning. and they're going to pick the beening numbers tonight, 10:59 eastern standard time. so good luck to all of you. again, here's our lucky ticket. fox 35's yours. and i'll let you know if we win tomorrow morning. if i'm not here, that's a good sign. >> don't quit too soon, dre. check your numbers. >> it's been great for me, too, because i've bought mower buffalo chicken rollers. >> can you imagine all the bad jokes those clerks have heard over the past few weeks? best thing about 711 is the $2 special, hot dog and a big gulp and then just sit on the tailgate of your truck with your son or daughter. 51 degrees outside right now, 53 in melbourne brevard, same thing
9:18 am
in tampa. still in the mid to upper 40s right now in alachua and marion counties. warmer than yesterday and we're going to end off a little warmer than yesterday. still chilly by central florida standards with highs in the 60. we'll start to warm, especially on friday and saturday, but the problem is with the warmth on friday, we could be seeing some pretty nasty weather friday morning. nice weather outside this morning, sun breaking through some of those mid and high level clouds from our amway camera, 51 degrees. here's the story on friday. right now, we've got all these high clouds, they've been streaming from the pacific ocean, the super strong el nino is giving us this claim of moisture, clouds, coming all across central america and mexico and then across florida. we'll see more clouds in the coming days and now the forecast. today and tomorrow, we stay dry. i want to draw your attention to the southern gulf of mexico. see that area of low pressure forming down there with a lot of rain. again, tomorrow should be fine.
9:19 am
but as we go through thursday, we'll start to see that low pressure consolidate. start to see a warm front out ahead of it. 6:00 friday morning, the warm front starts moving through florida, along and ahead of that warm front is where we could be seeing some pretty good thunderstorms that might be rotating. aka, severe thunderstorms, possibility of a tornado. we'll have to keep an eye on that. and then even late saturday into sunday, another little clipper system comes through. i want to dissect the timing on friday morning and show you the best chance we'll see squally weather. right now, 3 or 4 m: in the morning, everything's still offshore and that's good news. but as we go through the 5, 6, 7:00 hours, even all the way through 10 or 11:00 friday morning, we could be seeing squally weather with the possibility of severe storms or maybe a tornado. we'll keep you updated on that and give you the latest forecast all week long. for now, let's talk about today, 65. tomorrow, 70. both days, stay dry. and we hit friday morning,
