charlie is facing, different addictive issues he has had and sex and drugs and gambling and the mistakes he has made and particularly with drugs which caused devastation in his personal and business life and goes back to a bigger problem, he's suffering from, and we touchehed it a little bit but we'll go at it today. it is the mania. the ups and downs and mood swings, and he is not alone, many people are not alone and act in ways are self-destructive and the biggest challenge is to get someone to sit back and accept there is a possible solution that -- not what they would have expected and would mean they had a diagnosis of, you know, a form of mania, but treatments also exist and there painful admission something is deeper and needs to be fixed. >> amy: and, dr. oz, can that be

the mania that he experiences? >> without any question in my mind and going off of the hiv meds and leads him back to addictive behaviors that can be harmful to him. he's in a good place now in many ways and every once in a while he'll act out in a bizarre way but five years ago, there were times when it was all over the web of things that he did was bizarre, and not the charlie sheen i have gotten to know over the last few weeks and you realize something else is chemically pushing him in the wrong direction and what would happen if we helped him there and it is a dangerous problem, because people who suffer from it often see the world in technicolor and are much better able to connect ideas than most of -- and most of us can't figure out how to connect and they are brilliantly and see the world in technicolor and don't want to go to a black-and-white existence and charlie is like most people, will push back against being changed. i don't want to change him without him want be to be changed for the better. >> amy: absolutely, he has to
