the pick-up smashed through a guardrail and ended up in the westbound lanes... troopers say two people in the pick-up died. a third passenger was airlifted out to o-r-m-c in critical condition. the driver of the other car was not injured. right now-- troopers do not suspect alcohol played a factor. also developing in volusia county this morning-- there is a homeless stand-off. dozens of people are refusing to leave the "county administration building" in daytona beach. the people living there say-- they simply have no where else to go. fox 35's tiffany teasley has the latest. happening today...

girlfriend's daughter... and then dumping her body is heading to court. sanel saint-simon is charged with first degree murder for the death of alexandria chery. prosecutors say saint-simon had been living with the 16- year-old and her mother... when he d her last july. a week after chery disappeared... her body was found in a heavily wooded area near the osceola- polk county line. right now saint- simon is in the orange county jail on no bond. also today-- an orlando firefighter accused of crashing into 18 cars while driving under the influence... will be arraigned. prosecutors say korey steinert was off-duty when he

deputies are warning people in one seminole county community to be careful... after several cars and garages are broken into. this is surveillance video from a home in chuluota. you can see the man open a car door looking for one that's unlocked. he then rifles through the car until he finds a garage opener... and then goes inside the garage! seminole county sheriff's office says cars at at least 7 different homes were broken into...

openers were taken from each one. deputies also say at least one pricey mountain bike was stolen from one garage. if you have any information--contac t the seminole county sheriff's department. in lake county-- after just seven months on the job-- mount dora's city manager will offer-up his resignation at tonight's city council meeting. vincent pastue says there are new city council members-- and some mount dora residents-- who have been gunning for his deputy city manager. pastue will present a plan to the council that will include a resignation for himself ..and the deputy city manager. k the mount dora city council meets tonight at 7-30. we'll be sure to let you know what happens.

hour-- public health officials say the zika virus is spreading. it is causing birth defects in thousands of babies-- born to women who were bitten by infected mosquitos. the virus is now in many central american and south american countries --as well as in the carribean. health officials in florida are warning pregnant woman not to travel to those countries... including popular destinations like brazil... mexico... and puerto rico. a major drug company is now working on vaccines to stop the outbreak. president obama is banning the use of solitary confinement for juvenile and low- level offenders... in federal prisons. the president says the potential for devastating and long-lasting psychological consequences is far too high. he is also concerned about studies that show solitary confinement can worsen existing j.mses... and trigger new ones. the president is also preparing to pitch new proposals that would expand retirement savings accounts-- impacting more the 30-million americans.

to become a mosque. that story kicks off our morning rush. the fire happened at a daytona beach "y" on sunday. the daytona news journal reports--firefighter s found books had been set on fire. daytona beach police believe homeless people were inside trying to stay warm. the building sustained about 5 thousand dollars worth of damage. )t* the woman who was severely injured in a pit bull attack last week. our news partners at the orlando setintel report--50- year-old virginia farley is still in critical condition in the hospital. farley -- and four other people-- including a child--were hurt when five pit bulls began attacking them inside a home in sanford. all five pit bulls were shot and killed. the marion county ff's department is investigating a homicide. .ppened yesterday around 4 at a home on highway 225-a in ocala. sqs85wfound 57-year-old tamara bedenbaugh dead in the house. the cause of death has not been released. residents-- up north
