have nowhere else to go. vbave been camped outside of the building in daytona beach for nearly 2 months now. this is all started when the city closed the nearby parks that homeless in. the homeless are camping outside the the administration building becuase it's county property. that's what keeps them from being arrested for trespassing. yesterday the salvation army offered a bus to take people to a ;helter... but only a few people got on. the city is working towards building a regional shelter. however, advocates say it will take years to build... and a solution is needed right now. today... the volusia county school board will decide if students will wear uniforms next year. after months of meetings and protests... the board is casting its final vote on the proposed policy tonight. the new uniforms would include matching polo shirts... khaki pants... and closed-toe shoes. supporters argue it

peer pressure-- as every student would be dressed the same way. they also claim --the policy would make each campus safer. opponents-- like the protesters staging "walk-ins" at volusia county schools this week-- argue the board should be concentrating more on improving education... and cracking down on excessive testing. tonight's meeting begins at 5-30 in deland. a man accused of girlfriend's daughter... and then dumping her body is g to court today. sanel saint-simon is charged with first degree murder for the death of alexandria chery. prosecutors say saint-simon had been living with the 16 year-old and her mother... when he killed her last july. a week after chery disappeared... her body was found in a heavily wooded area near the osceola- polk county line. right now saint- simon is in the orange county jail on no bond. also today... an orlando firefighter accused of crashing into 18 cars while driving under the

prosecutors say korey steinert was off-duty when he crashed at "lofts at so-do" parking garage last september. officers say when they went to speak to steinert his eyes were blood-shot. but because they could not prove he had been driving drunk... they did not give him a sobriety test. this morning -- we are seeing dramatic video-- as an orlando police officer opens fire on a stolen car. take a look. this happened back on january 16th -- during a traffic stop in orlando. orlando police say 17 -year-old trevon lamons was behind the wheel of that car. police say when lamons refused to stop...officer jonathan mills shot and wounded him. lamons then crashed into a vacant house-- and was arrested. he is in juvenile custody-- facing several charges. %m are warning people in community to be several cars and into. this is surveillance video from a home in chuluota. you can see the man open a car door

reopened-- after a deadly crash shut down the highway overnight. troopers say 2 people were killed in volusia county. the crash happened just after 10-30 last night... on i-4 eastbound in debary, near mile marker 106. according to florida highway patrol-- the crash started on the eastbound side after a mustang rear-ended a pick-up. through a guardrail and ended up in the westbound lanes... troopers say two died. r*assenger was airlifted out to o-r-m-c in critical condition. the driver of the injured. right now-- suspect alcohol played a factor. new this morning-- we are learning a fire at a y-m-c-a... may have been set intentionally. the building was set to become a mosque. that story kicks off

cq the fire happened at a daytona beach "y" on sunday. the council for american-islamic relations tells fox 35-- that the fire was set intentionally. firefighters found books had been set on fire. police believe homeless people were inside trying to stay warm. the building sustained about 5 thousand dollars worth of damage. sanford police have identified the woman who was severely injured in a pit bull attack last week. the orlando setintel reporters--50-year- old virginia farley is still in critical condition in the hospital. farley and four other people--including a child--were hurt when five pit bulls began attacking them inside a home in sanford. all five pit bulls were shot and killed. the marion county sheriff's department is investigating a homicide. it happened yesterday around 4 o'clock-- at a home on highway 225-a in ocala. family members found 57-year-old

the cause of death-- has not been released. a deland man is alive jorning after being hit in the head by a stray bullet... and doctors say his lucky hat likely saved his life! josh cronin was walking home with a friend on saturday when he heard what he thought was firecrackers. it wasn't until he felt a sharp pain in the back of his head he realized he was shot. now doctors believe the plastic clip on the back of his baseball cap deflected the bullet enough to slow the momentum. right now there is still too much swelling to remove the bullet... but doctor's say the fact that cronin is alive is nothing short of a miracle. police are still searching for the shooter... if you have any information call deland police. a former u-c-f football player is in trouble with the law again. j-j worton -- who now plays on the new england patriot's practice squad-- was arrested sunday night on assault and battery charges. he reportedly got into a fight at a bar in foxboro, massachusetts-- near the stadium. this is not worton's first run-in with
