lot of locales upstream of this will feel the affected of heavy rainfall. i don't anticipate any severe. rumbles of thunder and burst of heavy rain. but as far as what we have gotten done with, energetic and energized systems moving in, it doesn't appear to be the case. for south bears the brunt. the chance is margal to a slight risk by the afternoon. 65 at orlando. melbourne showing at nearly 70 degrees. the hour by hour rain likely. a couple of isolated storms. nothing too frisky out there. periods of rainfall. we'llville moments of breaks and calm, it appears to go strong here for the next 36 hours. we're close to 80 by tuesday. and lows near 60 and no chance

fox 35's jackie orozco is outside of the sliver's office in -- the sheriff's office in volusia county. it took a couple days to send out the alert but now people will know that he is gone. >> reporter: given the circumstance, they said that the boy may believed to be traveling with the escaped prisoner. that's why they issued the missing child alert. again, they're asking anybody who has seen that boy or his mom or that prisoner that escaped, to contact authorities. >> tammy and other family members passed out flyers hoping that someone has seen her 3-year-old grandson zander quigley. >> we wanted to come to daytona to pass out flyers and raise awareness to bring my grandson home. >> we stopped at every rest area we could, posted them, and gas stations, and seeing someone passing by walking to the car, we'll hand it to them.

daytona beach where her grandson was last gleen he is 10 lovable. if you see his little face, i love him, i want him home. >> reporter: her daughter is on the run with her son and her boyfriend. he escaped after he cut off his ankle monitor. since. >> the reason he is listed as missing and possibly endangered is because of the circumstances of the escape and the fact that he's in the company of an escaped prisoner, he's on the run, and alluding capture right now. it's cause for concern. >> reporter: sheriff's deputies say that bullock is a convicted robber and serving an 8-year sentence. escape, destruction of an electronic monitor and criminal mischief. the boy's mother is facing

>> reporter: they were last seenkd)0| in a white, 2010 chevy cobalt. blonde hair, hazel eyes, 3 feet tall and weighs about 35 pounds. if you see any of them, you are asked to contact police immediately. >> amy: the state has also issued a missing child alert for these two children from indian river county. 4-year-old edward. they are believed to with their parents. the father is actually wanted in a connection with a shooting, a deadly shooting which happened last week. if you see any of them, you are asked to call police right away. >> john: a man was shot while trying to catch burglars who

11:30 on park commons drive. he confronted men, and he was shot. the suspects drove away and have not been found. >> john: an elderly man who was injured when a linx van was carjacked will find out if he will ever walk again. >> amy: had happened outside of a home. 80-year-old herbert was being picked up by the access van for his dialysis treatment. the driver was helping when the suspect jumped on to the van and started to drive off with it. doctor was not buckled in. he was tossed around in the van and injured his head and hip. his daughter spoke to us about the long road to recovery. >> his heart is not up to par. if they can't do the surgery, he will be in the wheelchair permanently. if he is in there permanently,

>> amy: burgess is being held without bond. >> john: at pineapple drive in mims. deputies were called to the home because a man and his girlfriend were fighting. the deputies tried to separate the two and the man attacked the officers. skylar francis pulled out a collapsible baton and beat the deputy. a second deputy was hit in the head when she tried to help. francis is charged with two counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement. johnson is charged with resisting arrest without violence. both deputies are expected to make a full recovery. >> john: a news alert. amy, go ahead. >> amy: the news alert of armed protesters who occupied a federal wildlife refuge has been arrested. one person was shot and another person was killed. they were arrested after gunfire

all eight people are facing federal scharnlings of conspiracy to impede officers through force, intimidation or threats. they have been protesting a long running dispute of public lands out west. neither the fbi or oregon state police are releasing details of what sparked the gunfire. >> amy: donald trump making headlines. >> john: it appears as if he will skip tomorrow's debate. >> reporter: good morning. trump announced that he would probably be a no show at the fox news channel debate. take a listen. >> i am going to have something else in iowa. we'll do something where we raise money for the swretrans. we'll -- for the veterans. we'll do somethings is simultaneously with the debate. more than likely we will not.

weekend.. a good wet wednesday morning. we're tracking live weather radar for you right now. it shows clusters of very, very heavy rain setting up. i tell you, as we go through the morning, it's going to be the case. for the afternoon. there will be lulls in the activity, but more will return. a window of rain opportunity opening big and wide for about 36 hours. but it gets better. we'll talk more about that. but the roads are not better. we have a slew of accidents. we have the traffic and the full detailed forecast in a few minutes. >> amy: daytona beach city leaders are meeting today to talk about the ongoing homelessless problem. >> john: this all comes as leaders say they're going to keep the administration center open. 80 to 100 people have been camped out there for weeks. many say they want man actee

bathrooms. the park was closed because of bathrooms were vandalized recently. but it's fixed now and they will only open up for events. they will meet again to discuss. >> reporter: the speedway at daytona will be filled with big names. rickey and jordan taylor. they are from here in central florida. what a difference from last year to this year. what have you seen? >> it's amazing. the first race at daytona since the new stadium has been built. it looks completely different. the front grandstand is massive. the back straight grandson. and as a driver it looks a bit different. as a fan, it'll be a great experience. >> for those that don't

24 straight hours. you will be the first driver? how does that work with brothers. who is in, who is out. obviously, you have four drivers. >> luckily, we're not the ones to decide, but traditionally, i've been the one to start. you go through the whole race, and you're always changing, and we hardly see each other until the end. >> your dad drove a while, and he quit now and is retired. >> you always want to beat your teammates. it's nice to have the brother on the team. you don't just have to beat him. you want to work together. in sports car racing, it's a team effort. >> do you do anything different with your schedules? you are not used to being up all night, and the situations with driving, how challenging is that. >> normally, we try to sleep as much as we can during the race.

the driers on the track >> jayme: and hydroplaning. heavy rainfall is in progress. you see it streaming across. the back end of this, we're picking up a lull. but there's more refiring over the southeastern and eastern gulf of mexico. a prolonged period of heavy duty rain. look at this stuff in new smyrna beach. getting into wilbur by the sea. near the daytona beach area. 42 minutes out. port orange, 38 minutes. the list goes on and on. it's pouring out there. just sheets of rainfall. 630s for us right now. 60s. temperatures have been status quo. not a lot of change in either direction. still pretty flat. mid-60s. rain likely. isolated storms could move into the area.

i would call severe, damaging winds, probably playing out in southwest florida. one tornado warning popped off in everglade city. outside of that, it's been relatively tame aside from the heavy down busts. uv index is a 2. it may be a 1 into the afternoon. a lot of rainy air is reloading. brighter whites and deeper greens suggest that the gulf moisture will rise up area of central florida. the west side of the state will see it first, and then overspreading. another rain mass getting into thursday morning. you can see how that plays out. behind this, good news. the northerly air flow sets up behind this and scours out any of the moisture we have in place. high pressure, there it is. the saving grace. bringing us a fantastic weekend

gathering of religious leaders that trump could win the nomination if he takes the first two states. >> if donald wins iowa, he right now has a substantial lead in new hampshire. if he went on to win new hampshire as well, there's a very good chance he could be unstoppable and be our nominee. >> reporter: and the big question now, would a debate absence, should it come to that, would it hurt or help trump? >> as of now, esucceedsing and doing what he wants which is making him the center of attention at all time. >> john: time for the morning rush. we're waiting to hear if investigators will charge a wrong way driver in orange county. >> amy: ryan has more on that and other stories. >> reporter: it happened yesterday during the rush hour on state road 528. 78-year-old arnold wiggum of orlando drove his pick up 8-miles in the wrong direction.

other trying to avoid the pickup. amazingly, no one was injured. there was a bomb threat at a jewish community center yesterday afternoon. police got a threatening call yesterday. staff and a number of students at the center in greater orlando were evacuated. they had babies there also. they found nothing after searching. a similar bomb threat at a neighboring academy. no word if the two incidents are linked. but certainly an investigation continues. an orlando firefighter will not serve jail time after he is accused of crashing into 18 vehicles after driving drunk. they said that he pled no contest to dui charges. he crashed int parking garage at the lofts at soto in orlando. he was sentenced to probation,

sees the little line of showers, no thunder indicated in that now. certainly nowhere near the levels of intensity that we saw at the last two rain events. prolonged, 36 hours. overall it's a wet go of things. let me broaden the picture to show you. heads up, cocoa beach. heavy rain is knocking on the door. activity towards the micco area. where brevard and indian river come together. and another area of rain reloading around north and west of kissimmee. and mind appear. around that line there. windermere. we have our tampa and our bithlo site. you can see a little bit of a lull to the west. do not let this lull you into thinking we have a break in the action. we'll have a break but?c more juicy air is reloading. this is gelling together.

from south to north and moving on to orlando metro, surrounding community, suburbs. everybody will see this. it's become a little more evident. south of the low. what's playing out, flashing the bright brilliant whites. and dry air across the western gulf. eventually, this comes through here, and we'll have another batch of energy out of the arizona desert. that helps to push everything out, and make for one heck of a weekend. probably making for some of the best weather we've seen in a while. sky-wise and temperature-wise. 60s for us right now. a coolish type morn. the day ahead, featuring a high of 70ish. rain likely. isolated storms. i wouldn't put much stock in anything strong or severe. that's probably going to play out through the southwest side of the state. you can see waves, ripples of energy moving across.

>> john: luannes now with an update. we have been talking about that. i still don't get how the kids don't have recess. >> reporter: they unanimously passed the new bill to require 20 minutes of free play, recess, per day, so kids would get it each day. it states that recess can not be taken away because of disciplinary or academic reasons. affecting students from kindergarten through fifth grade. although students are in school to learn, the bill says we have to let our kids be kids. >> they're children. they're not little learning robots. i just think it's -- with all the important stuff that we teach, that we mandate they be taught and have to learn, we have to let our kids be kids. >> reporter: now yesterday's committee was the first of three stops in the house. of course, that bill would also
