the video and let you know what sparked the big mess, plus... >> and ladies and gentlemen >> tom: an interesting start to last night's gop debate on abc news as the candidates trickled out kind of awkwardly but once stage. the sparks started and we'll check out the winners and the losers. we're checking out the chilly weather today. this is a little bit more florida chilly. 45 is real chilly. >> meteorologist: it's going to be a cold windy day. the it knows can't get that cold right now because we have wind. we also have a few coastal sprinkles outside in volusia and flagler counties but took at our camera over the citrus bowl showing the flags just flying. we have arctic air pouring into central florida on the backside of the nor'easter that developed yesterday. just offshore of the east coast of florida. we still have gale warnings offshore that's the deep purple

river down. through indian river counties. you see temperatures very cold. there's the nor'easter. still a few sprinklers. wind chills in the 30s and 40s. it feels like 39 degrees right now, in brevard county now, we will see clearing skies later on so may selena hernandez the sunshine it will be looking like a nice day. highs in the 50s and look at the winds. steady, 20 miles an hour, gusting at times even higher. we'll have the full 7-day forecast coming up, tom. >> tom: thanks, brooks. we are working breaking news this morning. for a second day in a row a mass shooting at a central florida nightclub. two dead, 6 others hurt. this time it happened in orlando at a place called glitz ultra lounge. it's on universal boulevard near the intersection of carrier drive right by orlando's tourist area. "fox 35" jackie orozco is right with the very latest, good morning, jackie. >> reporter: good morning, tom. you know, a lot of detectives

i was able to speak with a woman who she says that her husband was the one among those two killed and she was heartbroken, devastating, only 33 years old. she didn't want to give us his name but as you can see a lot of officers out here. a few minutes ago we saw what appears to be a bouncer, security from the club. he was pointing outside, showing officers around. explaining what happened. we're hearing reports that perhaps the shooting happened around 1:00 this morning. and just talking to folks, they were saying that it was latino night on saturday so again we saw the shooting happened out here. we saw sat 6:30 this morning the medical examiner was here and going inside also officers talking to other witnesses. a lot of folks still from the club were out here talking to detectives. we haven't had a chance to talk to them because they they were inside the crime scene, again, 8 people were hurt. two people were killed.

orlando police trying to get more details to figure out what exactly sparked the shooting and if they're looking for that gunman. once we have that, we'll let know. reporting live in orlando, jack job, "fox 35 news." >> tom: now it was just yesterday morning we were telling you about another mass shooting at another nightclub. this one was in tampa. one dead, 7 hurt there. this morning we're getting a look inside that club as the shots were fired. [screaming] >> tom: that video what you thought rolling live on periscope inside tampa's club rain when all that happened moments after the shots started the video cut out. police say 21-year-old marvin lancaster died. 7 other people who went to the hospital was also shot. they search everyone rather before they go in. police say history proves that's not enough. >> i know that we've been out here before we've had some

like it was very crowded last night. i don't know what their capacity is but we'll be checking into that. >> tom: detectives are still looking for the shooter right now. there are surveillance cameras at the club but they're not sure if they were recording. we also found out overnight that a second person died in the aftermath of a shooting in florida mall's parking lot friday. police say 19-year-old samuel destin died last night. someone called 911 saying they saw a teenager who was shot in the j.c. penney parking lot. when deputies got there they found a second person shot 20-year-old andrew garland also died at orlando regional medical center. detectives do not think the shooting are random but there are still a lot of unanswered questions. >> we're trying to figure out what the relationship was between the two -- the two victims. we're trying to figure out if it's sfv capitaled. >> tom: the sheriff's office says no one reported any shots

they are still not sure where it all started. new this morning a car crash sent a truck careening into an orlando business. take a look at the new video. you can see the truck crashed into the wall of the weld right company. it's on orange blossom boulevard. it's split open. orlando fire officials say two vehicles crashed into each other causing the big mess. it's not clear who caused the wreck, though. we do know 1 person went to the hospital. and this morning we are working to learn more about a shooting involving an ocoee police officer. right now all the police department will tell us is that an officer responded to belville falls drive yesterday. they were checking on a 911 call. when the officering there, they confronted -- got there, they confronted someone there and shots were fired. the florida law enforcement is investigating. orlando police are trying to find a man caught on camera pulling you a gun and robbing a

this is the store on conway road. it happened about 4:00 am saturday. the robber pointed his gun at the cashier, got some cash and took off. a similar robbery happened at a kangaroo express on colonial drive just a few minutes later. if you think you recognize that guy, call orlando police. in lake county clermont police still searching for whomever shot and killed a man in a publix parking lot. this is victim andrew devon jones. he was 21 years old. the shooting happened around 8:30 friday night. it was in a parking lot of a publix on colonial drive at county road 455. a witness reported seeing a white car leave the area. right now it's not clear if that car had any involvement in the shooting but investigators do say jones had a white car and that they are trying to find it. this morning, two former ucf students are suing the school. the suit comes in the w45i6k a

info of more than 63,000 current and former students as well as employees. the "orlando sentinel" reporting the lawsuit was filed friday and status. it claims ucf failed to keep data safe and did not do enough to prevent the hack. about the breach back in december and took its time informing the public. icf officials deny that. the two people filed are seeking damages which will be determined at trial. 8:08 at this hour a lot of eyes nervously watching north korea after they launched a rocket despite international warnings. the u.n. called an emergency meeting and secretary of state john kerry is also responding. the secretary says north korea's launch is a direct violation of u.n. security council resolutions. the u.n. says it's a cover for a test ballistic missile that could hit the u.s. mainland. this is the second time in a month north korea violated the resolutions.

claim that north korea tested a hydrogen bomb last month. u.n.'s emergency meeting is at 11:00 this morning. taiwanese rescuers continue their desperate search for survivors after yesterday's powerful earthquake. more than 100 people are still missing in southern taiwan. the quake hit early saturday and caused a high-rise building collapse. the death toll is now at 24. in new york city crews are working to remove that giant crane that fell friday. they began cutting the wreckage into pieces yesterday. the plan is to have it all cleared by tomorrow. it could be weeks before officials know what caused the crane to collapse, though. it killed 1 person, hurt several others. a team of u.s. and brazilian researchers are working to stop the spread of morning. they're collaborating on a way to treat as follows develop a vaccine. the centers for disease control also just put jamaica and tonga on the list of places to which

he possibly -- if he's -- as long as he's in the top 5 i think he'll stay in. >> tom: another of the subjects coming around the headlines today a lot of people saying that everyone kind of took shots at marco rubio last night. you see it a little bit differently, though? >> guest: yeah, i didn't see that. i saw that chris christie -- i don't think they're giving chris christie his due and i'm not a chris christie fan but i got to tell you, last night he did an excellent job of setting the tone and framing marco rubio in such a way where every word marco rubio left you doubting. it left marco rubio just these robotic statements that will come out and then marco rubio followed up with 4 statements manner if you will. so i think chris christie set the tone. the other governors really didn't have to go after rubio once chris christie did. >> tom: all right. of time. who comes out of this the best? >> guest: i got to tell you, no one person. watch the governors. we got to see what happens between the 3 governors.

>> tom: it is 8:25. there may be another staycation coming to central florida soon. legoland apparently wants to open up another onsite hotel. the lakeland ledger reports legoland files plans for a lake sides resort. it does have more than 160 units, a pool and a huge clubhouse. the hotel would be across seib press gardens boulevard from the park. it would be legoland first expense outside the footprint of the old seip res gardens. we are about 10 hours or so from the start of super bowl 50. kickoff set for 6:30 pm just after the coin toss. and did you know that a central florida company is at the heart of that coin toss? it's true the company is called hyland mint it's in melbourne. they designed the coin that will be used tonight. workers there made 10,000 of the gold and silver plated super bowl coins. they feature the broncos and, of course, the carolina panthers.

mass shooting inside a central florida nightclub. 2 dead, several others hurt. it happened in orlando at a place called glitz ultra lounge. it's on, you know, reversal boulevard near the intersection of carrier drive. "fox 35" jackie orozco is right with the very latest -- is there with the very latest, good morning, jackie. >> reporter: orlando police now telling us 8 to 9 people were wounded inside this glitz ultra lounge nightclub off universal boulevard like you mentioned. and we know 2 people were killed. not everyone was shot according to orlando police. a public information officer is on the way to speak with us to give us more details. we were able just to speak with a woman who says that her husband was among those killed. she says he was 33 years old. she did not want to give his name to us. she didn't want to be on camera because she was just too heartbroken and devastated. still trying to figure out what

we also saw a security guard out here as well speaking with officers kind of pointing the scene out here in the parking lot and then around 6:30 this morning we saw the medical examiner here as well again we're still working trying to get details to figure out what exactly marked this shooting and we're hoping to get an update of the conditions of all those wounded 8 to 9 people and again, two people were killed. reporting live here in orlando, jackie orozco, "fox 35 news." >> tom: now, it was just yesterday morning we were telling you about another mass shooting at a nightclub. this one in tampa. 1 dead, 7 hurt there and this morning we're getting a terrifying look inside the club as the shots were fired. 7 other people who went to the hospital also shot. detectives are still looking for the shooter this morning. now, the latest on a couple who cops call a real life bonnie and clyde who were caught in florida. 30-year-old brittany harper waking up in jail today. she's being held on $1.16 million bond in the jail. she was taken there after being released from the hospital. her boyfriend blake fitzgerald died in a shootout early friday morning. during the standoff, officers say fitzgerald tried to use harper as a human shelled. the couple were accused of crimes in missouri, alabama, georgia and florida. in brevard county, deputies arrested a man they believed was producing child pornography. 19-year-old joshua shaver is in jail on more than $400,000 bond. deputies say when they arrested him, they found child pornography in his house.

the images and deputies say that may indicate there could be additional victims. in volusia county, a mechanic is in the hospital after being run over on the job. yesterday morning, a woman drove to tire city in holly hill. we're told she somehow drove right into the shop and hit that worker, pinning him against the wall. he is expected to be okay though. no word yet on any charges. the 5 nurseries selected to grow and distribute the first medical marijuana in florida have all met their first deadline. the department of human officials put in their cultivation authorization request ahead of today's deadline. growers were selected in each region of the state. winter gardens, knox nursery was picked for central florida. each nursery has to start. dispensing low thc cannabis within 200 days after being authorization, vacant and nearly gutted by suspicious fires a

"fox 35" ryan elijah talked about it with the "orlando sentinel". >> kevin spear with the "orlando sentinel" joining us to talk more about this. kevin, good to see you. >> guest: likewise, how are you. >> i'm doing good. let's talk where the home, specifically, is at. >> guest: you know, in the thorton park area by dexter's in that area, a little bit east of lake eola. are you familiar with that. >> yes, and i think that'll give people really familiar. a really cool story. a century old house it's in historic districts. tell us how it wound up nearly getting demolished but not quite. >> guest: you know, yeah, this thing is thought to be 99 years old and it goes back to a storied somewhat famous mayor back in early 1900s and over the years lots of families but more recently it had fallen into disrepair. i mean, it's just crumbling, melting into the ground and 2014, a couple of years ago there were a pair of suspicious

that resulted in it being boarded up and it looks like the end of this historic home. now, the city does have rules that protect historic homes but it also has loopholes that if the place is such a mess, you can tear it down and start over. >> with all that said and with age and obviously history not on its side, what was it that saved this house? >> guest: you know, there's -- it's a cool story actually. you know, with old homes like this there might be a lot of drama to save the thing, you know, snatch it back from oblivion but in this case a guy who grew up not far away and now owns a heating and air conditioning company in the area was eating lunch at dexter's looked across the street and said, hmmm, that place might have some potential. he bought it. and he brought in contractors that he knows and he's working at it, no, no fuss, no muss, no drama. it's going to come back to life. >> i'm sure the people in the area love that as well. what about his plan for it.

beyond restoring it that he's going to use it for? >> guest: so are you going to flip this thing and make a pile of money. and his response was, no way. he's investing way too much in it. the economics of flipping it are lost and part of that story is, i saw -- he decided to put in this foundation that is way above and beyond in cost and need, a foundation that's comprised of concrete walls underneath this thing. again, way more cost than he needed to do and that really does kind of take away the potential for flipping it. he says his goal, having grown up here -- he's 47, is to protect this historic home and be able to drive by and brag about it actually and say, we did that house. >> i think a lot of people would love that and i sense a lot of people look drive-by and look at it as well. you can, of course, look at this at the "orlando sentinel." kevin, i appreciate all the insight today. >> guest: absolutely. >> tom: 21 minutes before 9:00.

"good day" john brown talked with an author who investigated more than 1,000 cases and what he says he found may surprise you. >> an estimated 13 million americans have experienced what they call a near death experience and that's since 1992. and according to a new gallup, 774 of these happened each and every day. author john burke has a new book called "imagine heaven requested where he studied survivors brought back from near death and he joins us this morning on "good day orlando" to talk more about it. so we'll start with this question, john, what are some of the more incredible stories you've heard. do you believe all of these? >> guest: well, i wasn't sure and i've now, studied about 1,000 of them and i write in "imagine heaven" about skeptical doctors in the after life in chapter 2 how many cardiologists and oncologists who were skeptical but became convinced

they don't feel dead. they actually feel like they become more alive than they've ever been before and many times they say they were still in the room watching what was going on. so they describe their resuscitation. and these have now been written up in the journal of medical association, the lancet europe's most prestigious journal. about 900 scarily articles. in the lancet they talk about the man who came into the e.r. he was unconscious and he had a massive heart attack and they took his denture, shocked him his heart started beating. he never came to in the e.r. and they moved him out into another room where he stayed for a week, a week later when he comes to, he's able to describe everything that happened in the e.r. including where they could find his lost dentures and which nurse had put of them in the lower drawer of the crash cart and there have been so many stories like that, that it's convinced many skeptical doctors

"fox 35" jackie orozco has been there all morning long. she has the very latest. good morning again, jackie. >> reporter: good morning, tom. yeah, you kind of said it all, 8 to 9 people injured. now, officers saying that it's not all of them were shot. we know two people were killed inside here. the glitz ultra lounge nightclub here in orlando. we did see the public information officer she's inside. she's going to be briefing the media shortly. still a lot of unanswered questions here.

are still a lot of unanswered questions. >> we're trying to figure out what the relationship was between the two -- two victims. we're trying to figure out if this was self-contained or if there's somebody that we should be looking for. >> tom: the orange county sheriff's office says no one reported any shots fired at the mall. they are still not sure where it all started. and new this morning, a car crash sent a pickup careening into an orlando business. take a look at the new video. you can see that truck crashed right into the wall of the weld right company. it's on orange blossom trail. the side of the building is split open and cracked from the impact. orlando fire officials say two vehicles crashed into each other causing this mess but it's not clear right now who caused the wreck. we do know 1 person went to the hospital. and this morning we are working to learn more about a shooting involving an ocoee police officer. right now all the ocoee police department will tell us is that an officer responded to belville

they were checking on a 911 call when the officer got there, they confronted someone and shots were fired. the florida department of law enforcement is investigating. orlando police are trying to find a man caught on camera pulling a gun and robbing a circle k. take a look, this is the store on conway road. it happened about 4:00 am saturday. the robber pointed his gun at the cashier. got some cash and took off. a similar robbery happened at a kangaroo express on colonial drive just a few minutes later. if you think you recognize that guy, call orlando police. and in lake county, clermont police still searching for whom shot and killed a man in a publix parking lot. police gave us this photo. this is the victim, andrew devon jones. he was just 21 years old. the shooting happened around 8:30 friday night in a parking lot of a publix on colonial drive at county road 455. a witness reported seeing a white car leave the area but right now it's not clear if that

shooting but investigators dost jones had a white car that they are trying to find. almost 9:08 this morning. two former ucf students are suing the school. the suit comes in the wake of a data breach that exposed private info of more than 63,000 current and former students as well as employees. the "orlando sentinel" reporting the lawsuit was filed friday and seeks a class action status. it claims ucf failed to keep data safe and did not do enough to prevent the hack. they also claim the school knew about the breach in december and took their time informing the public but ucf officials deny that. the two people seek damages trial. at this hour a lot of eyes very nervously watching north korea after they launched warnings. the u.n. called an emergency meeting today and secretary of state john kerry is also

deadly shooting at an orlando nightclub has gone up. i'll have the very latest coming up in a live report. >> tom: also medical marijuana making more progress in our state. we'll have the push to distribute it here in central florida. and if you were watching the super bowl for the commercials, well, you probably know this. you're not alone. we're checking out some of the top ads and themes that you can expect tonight during the big game. now, 30 -- 9:30. if you're getting out today you'll need a jacket, right, brooks. >> meteorologist: it's cold by central florida standards as we go through the day. temperatures will be about 15 to 20 degrees colder than normally. here's the arctic air coming in. here's a look from the "orlando sentinel" camera. flags are blowing in the breezes -- we're going to have winds today sustained anywhere from 15 to 20 miles an hour. gusting at times close to 30 miles an hour bringing in some very cold air. we will see clearing skies so that's good news. we'll have the sun come out as

to midday hours. temperature-wise we're in the 40s from alachua county all the way through brevard county. gale warnings offshore but wind chills are in the 30s. it is down right chilly outside and it'll stay cold all day long, even when the sun comes out, we'll just continue to have those west-northwest winds coming in at a fair clip. temperatures rise in the 50s as the sun comes out this afternoon. full 7-day forecast is coming up. tom? >> tom: 9:31. we are working breaking news this morning. for the second day in a row, a mass shooting at a central florida nightclub. the shooting happened in orlando at a place called glitz ultra lounge. it's on universal boulevard near drive. "fox 35" jackie orozco is there. >> reporter: standby. good morning, tom, orlando police are calling this an extensive and complicated investigation. they said now there's a total of

shot inside inside the glitz ultra club lounge. it was around 1:00 this morning, again the details of what sparked that shooting is unclear. and orlando police are saying that they have very good security here at the nightclub. they had actually 3 extra offduty officers in full orlando police uniforms. they do patdowns and things like that. so she wouldn't give us the public information officer details. if they do really good patdowns and security, how did that one gunman or several gunmen -- they didn't want to give us details how many suspects they are looking for. and it seemed like they were focused on the right side of the nightclub, and that's when the shooting happened. and again, she was saying most of these victims were innocent bystanders. 1 person died here at the club from gunshot wounds. the other person died at ormc and 8 right now are being treated at ormc. one is in critical condition.

names and she did say there is surveillance video inside that caught everything that happened. begun, they said they have lots of security officers here, private and opd so it was a lot of going on here and we did ask her if there has been extra incidents here, um, here at the club. that's why they had the extra security measuress and she would not release information we're staying on top -- 12 total victims and two of them were killed here by that shooting. for now reporting live here in orlando, jackie orozco, "fox 35 news". >> now, it was just yesterday morning where he told you about another mass shooting at a central florida nightclub. this one in tampa. one dead, 7 hurt there.

brilliantney harper waking up in jail this morning. she's being held on $1.6 million bond in the he is cam beia county jail up in the panhandle. she was taken there after being released from the hospital. her boyfriend blake fitsed gerald died in a shootout early friday morning. during the standoff, the officers say fitzgerald tried to use harper as a humid shield. she was taken to the hospital for a leg injury. the couple were accused of crimes in missouri, alabama, georgia and florida. in brevard county, deputies arrested a man they say they believed was producing child pornography.

jail on more than $400,000 bond. deputies say when they arrested him they found child pornography in his house. shaver is expected of producing the images and deputies say they indicate there may be additional victims. in volusia county, a mechanic is in the hospital after being run over on the job. yesterday morning, a woman drove to tire city in holly hill. we're told she somehow drove right into the shop and hit a worker, pinning him against the wall. he is okay. he's expected to be okay, rather. no word yet on any charges. the 5 nurseries selected to grow and distribute the first medical marijuana in florida have all met their first deadline. the department of health says they all put in their cultivation authorization request ahead of today's deadline. growers were selected in each region of the state. winter gardens knox nursery was picked for central florida. each nursery has to start dispensing low thc cannabis
