9:02 am
the big news now, much heralded yesterday. we see the line of weather and behind it we'd pave a pattern here of good looking conditions. as you go through the next 7 days you'll love it here. 50s and 60s now on the cusp of 70 in melbourne and upper 60s there and gradual clearing and warming temperatures. we hit 76 yesterday, i think we undo that by a handful of degrees and closer to 80 in many communities today and, by 2:00 it is sold upper 70s, if not making a move toward 80 in some spots. not every where but some. dry today, and the exception this morning, severe weather burst now, the front will come on through and take the clouds and everything with it. another front reloads to the north, late tonight and early tomorrow morning but no rain with that. hardly any cloud cover and again we'll keep up in the sunny mode, and the sunny pattern, fantastic and highs low and mid 70s each and every day that and overnights quite nice for the morning hours, through the low and mid 50s and zero as far that's rain chances are concerned. over to you.
9:03 am
sir. 9:02 on good day. >> amy: this morning, the cruise ship hit by the hurricane-force winds docked at port canaveral with new passengers. >> john: and andrea jackson is live at the port and talks to folks. i assume the passengers had a much better experience this time, mainly because they actually made it to florida? the other ones never made it here! >> amy: >> reporter: yes. and what a day, right here in florida, this is going to be spectacular. we had a bit of a rough start this morninger when she pulled into port at 6:00 a.m. with the rain and the wind but boy, she looked gorgeous, quite majestic to see her in person. there he is, the anthem of the seas here at cruise ship terminal one port at port canaveral and she's in the port of call today, until 9:00, and, wow what a gorgeous sight to see. the passengers who we spoke to briefly were excited to be on board and they said the ship looked great and they were headed to the theme parks today and were in a rush to get on board their bus and head toward
9:04 am
coast guard cleared the anthem of the seas to set sail on the -- the equipment functioning as designed. the one concern they had from the damage done to the ship was most was cosmetic and there was one component of the vessel's propulsion system and burned all four clutches and was something they were concerned about and did the repairs to and anthem of the seas, scheduled to sail to the bahamas last week had to return early to new jersey, last wednesday after getting caught by a nasty storm off the coast of cape hatteras, north carolina. four of the 4500 passengers on board at that time sustained minor wounds and a few of the public areas, some of the deck and cabins on board though 168,000 ton ship were damaged. that is according to the crew at royal caribbean. so, i checked the itinerary for today. she's here. in port, until 9:00 tonight before she leaves port canaveral and heads to the bahamas, to cocoa key, one of the islands the royal caribbean cruise ship sails to. and will be off to nassau as it

the bahamas and it is exciting to see, lots of folks showing up here this morning and taking pictures and in awe of her madge jest, huge, at least -- majesty and, at least 20 stories tall and looks good and will be in port until 9:00 p.m i'm andrea jackson, fox 35 news. >> john: thanks, and developing in k 0, detectives are trying to figure out what happened after mother and her teenage daughter are find dead inside of a home. >> amy: the bodies were discovered on sunny land and santa barbara road, fox 35's dana jay has more from right outside the orange county sheriffs office. >> good morning, amy, good morning, john and we expect the sheriffs office to reveal the names of those women a little later today. we also may learn more about how they were killed. right now, investigators are only saying it is a double-murder. >> orange county sheriffs office detectives continued to piece together what happened at the home in pine hills. yesterday afternoon, deputies

scene tape. neighbors shocked by what investigators are calling a double-murder. >> naturally, i would be shocked because it is normally a quiet neighborhood. you just don't really expect nothing like that to happen. >> reporter: according to the sheriffs office a man who lives in the home left in the morning and when he returned in the afternoon found a mother and her teenage daughter dead inside. investigators aren't saying how they were killed. but they do say their bodies showed signs of trauma. . >> i don't understand why that would happen. >> reporter: that is the question for investigators. a sheriffs spokesperson says the man who discovered the bodies is cooperating. >> they did have some gentleman down there, they were questioning. >> reporter: we also know from investigators that there are no signs of a break-in, adding to the mystery of what happened in that home to the mother and daughter. as the story develops today we will bring you the latest.
9:07 am
>> thank you, dana. brevard county troopers are looking for the driver who hit and killed a jogger. >> troopers say the victim was found dead in a ditch. he was found yesterday morning near satellite boulevard and dean avenue a little west of i-95 in cocoa. troopers say the 39-year-old was jogging along the road and was hit and killed. authorities are now searching for a gray chrysler they say had front end damage. meanwhile, crews are resuming the search for a missing woman from alachua county who is feared to be dead. she was last seen more than three weeks ago. a 28-year-old is believed to be the last person to see her alive and officials say he's the person of interest in the case. here's surveillance video of them the last time they were seen together and now, he's in the alachua county jail on in a unrelated charge. >> amy: orange county leaders are discussing prevention of the zika virus. >> john: the florida health
9:08 am
people in the state now have the zika virus. the mosquito borne virus is in 8 counties across the state including osceola county. all of these cases so far are travel related. the zika virus can cause mild fever and skin rash and conjunctivitis and has been linked to birth defects. none of the cases in florida involve pregnant women. you decide 2016. today is this dead lined to register, if you want to vote in the primary election. >> amy: you do have to register either to be a republican or a democrat in order to vote in the primary and can't be an independent and it is the deadline if you want to change your party affiliation. or if you would like to update your information, like your address or maybe you have gotten married and have a new name and florida's primary will be held on march 15. in the meantime the campaign trail just got a little more bizarre. >> john: hillary clinton barked like a dog and one republican says he'll sue one of the other guys, ryan is here with the latest from campaign trail.
9:09 am
and sum it up in a brief amount of time. moment. we start with this latest from donald trump, now going after ted cruz calling his opponent a flat-out fraud. >> i have never, ever met a cruz. i have never, ever seen anything like it. he did it with ben carson and fraud deal that he did, i mean, it was a fraud. >> ryan: remember there was a time when trump really wasn't going after cruz? he said the lawsuit can be avoided if he removes one of the latest round of attack ads against him and also announced that he could run as an independent if he's not selected as the g.o.p. nominee. despite promises not to he says the republican national committee is not holding up their end of the pledge to treat him fairly and with respect. and he does not have to honor his. jeb bush bringing in his brother on the campaign trail. former president george w. bush on the campaign trail yesterday with -- and met with the grounds

against donald trump. >> in my experience the strongest person usually isn't the loudest one in the room. [cheers] >> didn't mention him by name and hillary clinton taking shots at all of her republican rivals, yesterday in reno. she said she wishes there was actually a dog that barked every time they distorted the facts. >> we need to| get that dog, and follow them around and every time they say these things, like, oh, well... [barking] you know? >> ryan: is it something they discussed or she did it ad-lib? the sprup primary saturdays and the next caucus for the democrats will be saturday. if it is anything as eventful as that, should be an interesting weekend. >> john: and talking about how bizarre everything is, a viewer sent us -- see this computer
9:11 am
donald trump bought jeb bush.com. >> amy: that is not jeb bush. >> john: and even jeb didn't get his web site. >> amy: you see, jeb 2016 i think is his web site. >> john: trump bought that. amazing. coming up, pregnant women enjoy that sweet tooth. >> amy: how chocolate could actually help your baby to grow stronger, that is coming up. 9:10. a live look inside the control room on this tuesday morning, saying hello to producer amanda. 5:11. we'll be right back. some people don't like to share their wifi, but at bright house networks, we do. login to one of our hotspots and get your code for free wifi at over 50,000 bright house wifi hotspots.

>> amy: i like that. >> john: on the health watch eating chocolate every day during pregnancy may help the baby's growth and development. >> amy: good news, right? some being the key word. and fox medical team's dr. mike joins us to tell us about the connection. doc, good to see you. >> what a great story. for once i'm saying do something and not don't do something! all right? if you are a pregnant woman out there and you have a taste for
9:15 am
if you consume a little bit of chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, it will actually improve the health of your baby and will increase development and increase blood flow, it is all good. as long as you don't do too much. >> john: right, that is the key, dr. mike. how much is too much? how do you know when to quit? >> well, the study looked at 30 grams per day and that had the effects on the blood flow improvement. but, remember, a calorie is a calorie is a calorie and you don't want to get into trouble by eating too much. chocolate is a wonderful thing, and it is one of nature's gifts. but, it does have calories and sugar. so, just be careful. but, i think women that are pregnant should be encouraged that, hey, it is okay. there is a little bit of
9:16 am
chock-full of flavanols and anti-oxidant and wonderful things that are good for the body, amy. >> amy: good to hear! and will make a lot of lady happy. good news, we love it when you spread the good news! thank you. >> love you. >> amy: love you back, see you later. 9:15-let's check in with mr. jayme king. nice improvement. >> jayme: the water vapor tells us nicely. it is 9:15. the front is moving eastbound and dragging in quite a bit of dry air and the rain has taken a position across far southern florida and seeing very interesting im mansion, coming out and pictures out of key west now. for the drive tortuga and, thunderstorms approaching that stretch and great fishing, but boy oh, boy look out when it gets nasty the weather turns out there. it becomes high seas in the middle of nowhere fast. unbelievable stuff down that way. right now, 50s and 60s, and, a nice morning, a heck of a lot
9:17 am
we had severe weather this morning and, now we endure a clearing process looking good through 11:00 and 2, 5, 8 tonight, clears skies and cooler temperatures, and we'll see those lows drop into the mid 50s late tonight, courtesy of the front, another one here, north of us, reloading currently and no cloud cover tied to that and maybe, maybe a wind shift and no rainfall over the course of the next 7 days. goose eggs and takes us to the big race on sunday, down at the speedway and the big 500 going down and you know it and love it. the weather will be fang tachg. harken back to the last few years and we had rain around race day and race time and the snarls and all kinds of not starting off on time. leave it at that. doesn't look like any hang-ups or hiccups now through the next several days. that's your forecast. >> amy: love it, couldn't be more beautiful. still ahead, bugs are invading leu gardens! >> john: the kind you want to see, right? david martin?

what a great looking day we have, and "good day orlando," i'm john brown, i'm amy kaufeldt. a lot is going on outdoors. teachers will push for a pay raise and say now more than ever it is a struggle to live on what they are making. considering how much work they say they are doing outside the classroom. teachers recently did get a 2.4% pay increase but they say it is not enough, the district says it it will do whatever it takes to resolve the issue and the board meeting is set 5:00 p.m. >> john: passengers getting ready to head home after the plane caught fire aoia and -- at oia and it was headed to tallahassee. 12 people were on board the silver airways plane and flames were spotted before it took off and everyone was safely evacuated. silver airways says it put the passengers up in hotels for the night and will be on their way back later on today. >> amy: sea world orlando is
9:28 am
rollercoaster and they'll show the train, and will reach 200 feet high and go 73 miles per hour and is over 4,000 feet long, the ride will be orlando's tallest, fastest, and longest rollercoaster and is scheduled to open at sea world this summer. >> john: nearly a mile of a rollercoaster. >> amy: people say it went by too fast, and this one will not disappoint you. >> jayme: 73 miles per hour, look here, the front clearing the central portion of the state and includes us here and far south florida now, is enduring some pretty rough weather, moving offshore of broward and dade county and the tail end of it will rake through the lower and upper keys, through key west and marathon and largo, florida bay and kick into the bahamas, a progressive system, and a lot of internally and really got all juiced up. as it made an approach toward brevard county and prompted again the tornado warning we had early this morning and covered
9:29 am
always looking ahead and trying to keep you, our viewers ahead of any approaching storms and that one was pretty impressive. right now, the wake we are calm and tranquil and looks like temperatures now, responding in an upwards direction, and we have seen warming commence now and should make it with warm temps today into the upper 70s and if not 80 on the mark for a brief stint and some communities, back down we go to 8 o'clock tonight and looking for 65 degrees, during that time and all in all looking good and this front makes the approach now, all the clouds from this morning are now adjusting off toward the east and down to the southeast, as the banding continues with pretty wicked weather. across far south florida at this time. but, for us again, it is looking good, not only today, but the day after that and that, all the way through into the weekend, solid 70s, overnights are pretty much through the low and mid 50s and if you look here, we are pretty much on par here where we should be. for this time of year. so, we're done with the business
9:30 am
have had our moments, abnormally warm temps and goldilocks forecast, 70s for highs and 50s overnight and just right with overnight lows, again, the comfy zone and no chance of rain through the coming weekend. that is your forecast. over to you. >> all right, thanks. 9:29. right now, time for your morning business headlines and we're going right to new york city where lauren simonetti is standing by and, nice long weekend for the markets? they recuperated, we hope. >> dow up 50 point and will go up more as the seconds tick past the opening bell. we'll have a rally. oil prices are up and chinese stock market up 3.3% today and we set the table nicely for a rally. this is the oil news, oil is about $30 and higher because the major oil producers in the
9:31 am
are not cutting production but will not increase production as long as iran and iraq agree not to increase production either and iran is trying to get oil back after the sanction are lifted and they say let's freeze it where we are now and, because of that oil is up and the dow now up a solid percent, 146 points. >> amy: can we expect gas prices will stay about the same? >>. >> i love the question. gas prices have been extremely cheap for quite some time. will they go back up? yes. if we see a sustained increase in the price of oil, well above $30 a barrel. if we are flirting with 29, 30, $31, gas prices will not do anything but if we have a sustained build, absolutely. >> amy: i love to ask you questions you love. my favorite thing! >> all right. >> amy: at&t. have something nifty, the 5g. what does it mean.
9:32 am
in terms of your mobile network, you know, when you are watching a video and have to buffer and takes forever. and you can't get your call on wifi, whatever. the 5g network is the next level, up to 100 times faster than 4g because we're impatient, right? at&t testing that network, this year in texas. and they say, come to our network and we'll give you $650 in credit if you do so. >> amy: intriguing and this is interesting, bigger sales coming to a mall near you? i guess it is -- trying to get everybody back in the stores, right? >> love the story, people are probably saying everything is already on sale in the store now, but there is something we call the inventory sales ratio. so, if you look at the inventory at the store, based on their sales, we have more inventory than we might have sales, in fact, that is at the highest level since, well, about six-and-a-half years and we have
9:33 am
get it out 0 of the store shelves and expect the shops an malls to say, all right, clearance, let's get it out of here. we are shopping, we are spending our gas savings on-line. on amazon for instance. not necessarily at that brick and mortar store, folks are saying, the analysts say you might see deeper discount. not every store, not every type of sector here will have discounts but some will. >> all right -- and, my e-mail is unundate with the stores, every day are having a sale and they are starting to say clearance on them and that is interesting. >> and the other thing is, there is talk we're in a manufacturing recession, meaning our factories just aren't making enough and you think about it. so much stuff on the retailers shelves now and they don't need to order inventory and the factories are not hiring and that explains the manufacturing
9:34 am
