on the doorstep. they told him to, quote, give it up. at the same time, one immediately shot him in the stomach. all three men took off. they ran away.@ police are still looking for them this morning. only a vague description of the suspects. three black men. it's not clear if they robbed our victim or not. and he was taken to the medical center in serious but stable condition. >> amy: also developing this morning, the teenager accused of running down an orange county deputy will be in court later this morn. the family of sergeant pearce will also be in court when ortiz makes his appearance.

has stitches on her face. ortiz is facing an attempted murder charge. >> john: in brevard county, students head back to tropical elementary school this morning for the first time since learning that one of their classmates were found dead. two were found dead inside of their merit island home. it happened on sunday. they believe that the father's death was a suicide, but they are not giving details. they are not looking for suspects. neighbors say they're in shock. >> it's traumatizing.x just totally traumatizing. you can't believe it. you would never believe it in a million years that something like that would happen. >> amy: just a horrifying story. neighbors describe ananya as a straight-a student. she would often translate for

thai restaurants. her mother is out of the country right now. >> john: the search for baby willow continues after another search turns up empty. they drained a pond yesterday near the willow bend apartments. they believe that she gave birth to the baby and immediately abandoned the child last week. richardson remains in jail but is not cooperating with investigate. >> amy: a swat team raided this house yesterday on orange avenue. longwood police said that they figured out they needed to search this house. police called for back up and used a small tank to break down a fence and door. no word if anyone was arrested. >> amy: the cdc has arrived in brazil. they want to investigate the zika virus. >> reporter: starting today, scientists will take blood

brazilian women and their children. the mosquito borne virus is believed to cause birth defects but the cdc is not 100% certain. scientists hope to determine when they are in brazil. they want to know if women experience symptoms of zika infection during their pregnancies. a second case of zika reported here in, county. there are 28 cases in our state, but all of the cases in florida are travel related. >> john: a man from winter park accused of kidnapping and robbing two women will spend less time behind bars all due to a court order. he was sentenced to 60 years in prison. the 60 year sentence has been cut in half. jurors were apparently not given a written definition of reasonable doubt.

reducing his sentence to 30 years. a teacher accused of having sex with a student has resigned. he is accused of having sex with with a 17-year-old student in the classroom at east ridge high school in clermont. the news partners the the "orlando sentinel" said that they accepted the resignation. he denied but admits to spending time with the student. >> john: hopes to extend a the caucus. >> reporter: the g.o.p. front runner is expected to win. the real battle is for second place. 39% of republicans in nevada say they support trump. ted cruz second with 23%. and marco rubio battling for

the teen the deputies have been searching for since friday finally turned himself in yesterday afternoon. >> we did take into custody jan carlos ortiz. he was at his mother's residence at high street. >> reporter: the same location where he tried to run over the sergeant when she was trying to take him into custody. he faces a number of charges. >> attempted murder on a law enforcement officer, ag battery of an law enforcement officer, use of a weapon in the commission of a felony crime and potentially he will be charged with grand theft auto. >> reporter: they have recovered the stolen car he that used when he hit the sergeant when she suffered head injuries and a fractured foot. >> we'll be there in the morning. >> reporter: ortiz will be in

road. is this a momentum builder? >> it absolutely is. trump should win nevada. sin city is his kind of place. should be an easy win for him. the real battle is who comes in second. marco rubio, in my opinion, needs to come in second. a third place finish, a fifth place finish, and marco rubio has not been able to show yet that he can win, and he needs to do that quickly. >> john: one of the big things, with jeb bush out, the money going to jeb, and the support going to jeb, will go to marco. do you agree with that? i don't think a lot of the old republican guard will go for donald trump, and i am not sure about ted cruz. >> i am not sure. i hear a lot of the money goesx to rubio butx i think a lot of people, donors torned, rubio in a sense in our bernie sanders.

>> reporter: the only form of medical marijuana legal in orlando is charlotte's web. it has a low form of thc and does not get you high. but a lot of patients are not able to get it. a new act would give access to charlotte's web and other experimental treatments. a constitutional amendment will be back on the ballot in november. that's still too long for one marion county family. they have decided they're leaving florida because they can not wait any longer, they say, to get medical marijuana treat for their child. >> by the time he was a month old, all we have known is hospitals. doctor, specialists, surgery, it's hard. >> reporter: you see that little boy there. shawn has chronic lung disease, epilepsy, a hole in his heart, autism, and a trache in his throat.

back in place. should make it well into the low 80s for highs. southerly wind flow. despite the increase in clouds and looming rain risk, no problem heating up the local weather environment. 35 miles east of port canaveral. the mainland, the interior, the peninsula, looking fairly quiet. high clouds streaming through from time to time. a lull in the rain chances but later today we're confident that we'll see a few things brewing. and certainly by tomorrow, we're talking about a system moving closer. we have been talking about this since its inception in the gulf of alaska. it went through canada and found its way through southern texas. and it'll move our way with rapid speed late morning and early afternoon. we'll feel the effects as we get into tomorrow. the shower risk and storm chance

keep in mind, 40% means not e sees rain drops. it's kind of a medium type rain chance. the uv index is at a 6:00. giving us a little bit of hope to retain sunshine on the day until the clouds clump up and the rain chances come up. about 3:30 we have pocket, cells migrating from south, southwest, north, northeast. and overall storm movement. as we get into the day tomorrow, it gets interesting. as we get into the morning hours, by mid-morning, the line should be in gainesville and closing in on ocala and by around the lunch time hour, we see it shifting through. the pockets of heavy rain. risk of strong damaging winds and you never want to rule out an isolated tornado wrap-up. it could happen quick and fast. we'll be informing you all day long.

we heard that one of his friends caught the shark. they reeled it in. they cut the line and pushed it out. people see it and think he was playing with the shark. a dolphin in south america was removed and they took pictures with it and it was injured. >> amy: music fans are starting to appreciate the casette tape again. and they are starting to stock tape players. some have released their most recent albums on the tape. casette tapes make up a small portion of music sales. i can see records making a comeback because of the way of the sound. >> john: it has a depth of the digital music doesn't. >> amy: i don't know about the casette.
