9:03 am
these are sustained so when you factor in the gusts, again, 25 to 30 wouldn't shock me in the least bit today. 60s surround as we wrap up into the 70s. lows over the weekend, a solid mid-40s for you each and every morning. cool and crisp early and then warming through the afternoon. >> search crews back out at a rake this morning, continuing to look for a missing boater. >> the man went fishing yesterday and didn't come home. fox 35's gina is live out there for us. >> a lot of people out here working in the search for this missing boater. this started yesterday morning
9:04 am
here to tremble park around 7:30 a.m. authorities say he got on his boat and took off in the lake. his family got worried when he didn't come home right away, and so that's when they called authorities. 10:35, 3 hours after he left, officials spotted his boat going around in circles on the lake, but he was no where to be found. crews searched the area by helicopter and boat all day yesterday. they're out there, back out there today with sonar crews and the air crews in the water, but still have not heard any word from them of finding this missing boater. we will keep you posted should anything new come to light. for now, reporting live, gina, fox 35 news. >> thank you, gina. new this morning, deputies are looking for gunman who car jacked a couple as they were pumping gas. >> this started around 3:30 this morning when the victims picked up a woman and drove to a circle k. the victims got out of the car to pump gas.
9:05 am
charger pulled up. a man with a gun got out of that charger and attacked the victims. while that was going on, the woman inside the couple's car jumped into the front seat and drove off, too. deputies now trying to figure out if she was somehow working with the gunman who also then sped away from the scene. >> two people are found shot inside of a home and orlando police are still trying to figure out what happened. it happened at a home on king coal boulevard, about 11:15 last night. both people are still in the hospital this morning. they are expected to survive. still no word on any possible suspects at this time. >> also, today, crews review safety procedures of the i-4 ultimate project. troopers say a dump truck ran over a worker yesterday, killing him. it happened near maitland, off the shoulder on i-4. work has been put on hold as they review safety procedures. >> 9:05 right now. weather alert for you. parts of north florida still under a state of emergency right now after yesterday's powerful storms caused damage. >> the governor declared a state
9:06 am
no deaths have been reported but three people are still recovering from minor injuries. officials are still assessing the damage and emergency crews are still working to help people in need. the governor toured the damage yesterday. >> so far, we believe there's 70 plus homes that far damaged. about 2700 homes without power. >> the storm that hit florida is the same storm system that also claimed six lives in virginia, louisiana, and mississippi. you decide, 2016 republican candidates gearing up for tonight's debate. the race for the white house already heating up and last night's town hall meeting in houston. the event was hosted once again by fox news and once again, donald trump didn't show. his opponents rather took advantage of that. >> and so the question right now is how do we prevent nominating a candidate who loses the general election or for that matter if donald wins the general election, who the heck knows what he'd do as president. >> we're not going to allow the
9:07 am
defined by a nominee who isn't a conservative. and we certainly need to elect someone who's prepared to be president in a thoughtful and serious and important way given the threats this country faces. >> meanwhile, on the democratic side, bernie sanders is playing catch. he currently trails hillary clinton by done digits there in the state of south carolina. and they're just three days away from the state's primary. clinton also picking up big political endorsements, the first recent from senate minority leader harry read. >> also happening today, space x tries again to launch the falcon nine rocket from the cape. the count down halted about a half an hour from the launch last night. they stopped the count in abundance of caution to make sure the liquid fuel on board was cool enough for the rocket to operate safely. the falcon nine is carrying a european satellite. space x will also attempt to land a segment of the rocket on the barge. the launch time, 646. make sure you set your alarm. sibling:46 this evening.
9:08 am
>> also new this morning, exciting news out of universal. new images of upcoming king kong attraction. ryan is here with the latest on that. >> a lot of people excited about this. universal orlando updates posted an image of the theme park's newest ride, skull island. the reign of cong. they show us what it's going to look like. it's hard to believe that movie goes back to 1933. it takes you to cong's home turf. the ride will be split that two events. the first part, guests walk through the jungle. the second part will be big expedition trucksism it's one of the longest rides universal's ever created. it's expected to open this summer. when you're walking by, you see this giant skull island where you would walk in right there. that's about as close as i could get.
9:09 am
and jurassic park. it's a huge area they're working on. looks like they're probably 85, 90 % done. so they're putting the finishing touch on. but pretty cool. >> that is cool. thanks, bryan. >> if you're feeling bloated, maybe struggling to conceal the bags under your eyes. you know what, it may be your diet to blame. >> that's right. fox medical team explains just how much salt is hiding in some of your favorite foods. plus, choosing your baby's gender. why model christy keigan says she did that and how people are reacting to her decision this plus, david martin. good morning to you, amy. hi. we're live at the florida mall. how would you like to control how much sushi arrives on your plate when you have lunch or dinner? that's exactly the concept here at sushigami. you pick a colored plate riding by on a conveyer belt and boom, at the end of your meal, you get charged whatever you consume.
9:10 am
9:13 am
a lot of construction taking place over at sea world, as well. there's a big concert coming up this sunday, foreigner playing at sea world, part of the band, brew and barbecue series. and that forecast we just saw, you'll see it in just a second. make your plans to get your tickets now for the great outdoor concert. on the health watch, salt makes your food taste better. we all know that. it could make you look a whole lot worse. >> it turns out you could be eating a lot more salt than you think and with salt hiding in some of your favorite foods, you could be doing damage on the outside you don't even realize. i love how you switch from one to the other. >> yes. we're supposed to be getting about 1500 milligrams max a day.
9:14 am
we're doubling that. so 1500 is your daily sodium allotment. and the problem is, it's not just if you have high blood pressure or brehypertensive. getting too much salt just leads to bloating and we don't want to be or look bloated, but also, it can lead to swelling around your joints and cause issues. so let's talk about the salty six. we begin with bread. it's fun to say and yet hard to say. bread, this is not something you think of as being a salty treat, but two slices is 500 milligrams of sodium so a third of your allotment. and then amy, do you want to guess how much sodium is in these two slices of ham? >> i'm sure it's awful. i don't know. maybe five tea spoons? >> 500, you mean? >> yeah.
9:15 am
you're right, if that's what you were going for. a total of 1,000. if you put the two slicesof ham on the two slices of bread and that's your whole allotment for the day. >> and most people put more than a two slices. if you have soup with your sandwich, that turns it into a disaster when it comes to sodium because in this bag of soup, you've got more than 1500 milligrams of sodium. so now you're up to the 3,000 mark. that's the problem. so many other places where you might not think of where you get a 6 -inch sub. remember, you've got the bread, the cold cuts and if you add anything onto that that might be a little salty, olives, pickles, this can be your full day's
9:16 am
poultry, i buy the rotisserie chickens. it can be plumped full of sodium sodium. and it's not real clearly labeled so it's tough to tell. i don't know. i just grab this off my chicken at home this morning and i could not tell you how much sodium is in this chicken leg. this is somebody's dinner right here. and finally, to round out our salty six, we have pizza. you know, pizza, you've got the crust, the cheese, and the pepperoni. so this mini pizza, this is about 6, 700 milligrams of sodium in this tiny, mini pizza. so that's something to think about. make sure you're drinking water. eat your potassium. that counteracts the affect of all that sodium in your system. if you're having pepperoni pizza, cut back on the salt shaker.
9:17 am
need to add salt to almost anything. thanks for the advice and for helping me. i need all the help i can get. >> those pop quizzes are stuff. >> i know, they're hard. see you later. all right, jayme king. all you, my friend. another cool start for us this morning. looking pretty good out there with 50s across the entire region. we made it down to the 40s over north central florida and portions of western volusia and down to sumpter. outside of that, it looks like everybody sees the numbers coming on up, talking mid-60s today by about 2:00. sunny, cool and breezy for you. clear and colder tonight under clear skies. temperatures drop off well into the 40s and all locales between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., we'll probably see low to mid-40s in orlando metro. no freezing weather, but probably 30s peppering in around gafblg and ocala just before sunrise friday morning. lunchtime, will we get er done? that is the question. and we think so tonight.
9:18 am
probably also played a role. by tonight, just brazy and at that time, winds begin to really relax. 57 to 60 if you're heading out towards the launch site. maybe put on a light jacket or sweater to keep you nice and toasty as you watch it. okay. >> so sat rad showing us a couple things now. we've got the clouds now scouring out and this radar shows us the snowfall proping around the low is making it all the way to the western carolinas. for us, doesn't mean anything. we've got serious breezes today. it is light and blowing out of the west, northwest at pretty strong speeds and that will pee the case in the golf course today. about 65 in the local green. we're slowly moving in that general direction. and as we take a look at the rainfall forecast, a great weekend weather forecast for you. no chance of rain fall friday into saturday and sunday. really nice again with ample sunshine in place.
9:19 am
modeling, really nothing going on. all about big high pressure and that's why our 7 -day forecast looks a little something like this. again, highs through the 60s as we approach the weekend. sunday, around 71. bright sunshine and overnights through the 40s and 50s with no chance of rainfall. at least at this point. enjoy. trending right now, model says she and her husband chose their baby's gender. >> luann is here to tell us how her happy announcement actually sparked controversy about designer babies and she's kind of going on the defensive now. >> a lot of people say this just wasn't right. we're gonna tell the story and you decide. christy used invetrow fertilization to get pregnant so she had the option of choosing which embryo she wanted but some people are saying parents should not get to pick and choose what kind of baby she wants. >> she picked a female embryo to carry. fans are mostly happy, but some are criticizing her for making a
9:20 am
the super model says she made the choice because she thinks her husband will be a great father to a little girl. she says seloves how men become more sentimental when they have daughters, adding the baby will be very lucky to have john legend as her daddy. i'm kind of torn on this, i guess because she already had to do the invee row so if you're already at that point and you get to pick, i don't have a huge problem with it. but if you do invetrow just so you can pick, i think that's the brb problem. >> i'm a planner. i wanted to know what color to buy. >> would you have picked if you could have? >> no. i wouldn't. i'd leave it in god's hands. >> even her comment, he'd make a great dad to a baby girl. not a baby boy?
9:21 am
you doing there. thanks thanks, lu. okay. we're getting rolling. >> where are you, david? >> i'm at sky lake florida, so says my gps. sky lake. that's where the florida mall is, according to nasa. so here i am at the sushigami restaurant. you kind of get an idea of what they have on the big menu. amy, i'm gonna order you a lava role. john, reptile and i'm gonna order myself a cocktail. and i pull up a seat and chef troy's gonna make it for me and
9:22 am
9:24 am
9:25 am
it's like the old sats. >> is it environmental or experimental? >> experimental. >> there's a fun new way to order sushi in the florida mall. >> the food is on a conveyer belt which is really cool and totally different. david martin is joining us live. i don't know what it is about thursday, but we get to thursday and all of a sudden, we're stuck on the mud. >> i hear you. it's because we worked on sunday, that's why. this is friday for us. we're live at the florida mall in sky lake florida with my friend francisco morales. he's the general manager of sushigami. brand new conveyer belt place here at the florida mall where you pick what you want off the conveyer belt. if i pick one off the belt and i don't want it, do i put it back on the belt? >> no, of course not.
9:26 am
you can enjoy whatever you would like to enjoy from the belt. >> and if i order something from chef troy, does he put it back on the belt for me to get later? >> no, he will bring it to you. >> so not everything is on the conveyer belt. >> we have items that are ala cart and then we have the conveyer belt, as well. >> i think every restaurant could have a conveyer belt. let's introduce the audience to chef troy who's been back here sleeving away behind the counter for us all morning long. you are very talented. how are you, sir? >> hello. i'm doing well. >> show us something you made that doesn't go on the belt. >> what i have here is a crispy tofu salad. >> amy loves tofu. >> it's my favorite. >> what's inside is romain cream mix, red onions, cherry
9:27 am
pineapple and some tomato dressing. a little sweet, a little spicy, very good. >> good. what else you got? >> right here what we have. a little avocado on top with microcilantro. and then we have a sesame tuna. so we sear tuna on the outside, a little chilli paste and a little sesame seed on the outside, sliced with a -- in a sauce with a little mayo, little bit of jalapeno, ginger, very sweet sauce and a little bit of microcilantro, as well. >> i don't know how old you are, but i'm guessing you grew up in the 80s, at least. you remember mall food? you'd get a pretzel and a shake. look at this, custom sushi food right here on a conveyer belt. i'm loving it. congratulations to you, chef. >> i have one last dish.
9:28 am
9:31 am
bring the . welcome back. >> let's get you caught up headlines and the news. this is happening on the border of lake and orange county. search crews out again this morning, searching for a missing boater. family members say 76 -year-old william went out on his boat yesterday morning but never came back. crews later spotted the boat going in circles in the lake. florida fish and wildlife officers were able to secure the

morning. `? man who is wanted in multiple shootings. the most recent shooting happened on tuesday night. wilson shot four people, including two teenagers outside of a home. wilson is also the main suspect in the mother's day murder of diondre smith. >> also, three pregnant women from florida have now been infected with the vooirs. the health department says that all the peoplezika virus. the health department says that all the people who have caught the -- the cdc isn't saying where in florida the women live and also not giving out names to protect identity. there are now 32 confirmed cases of zika here in floefrd. >> get raise to see a lot of spring breakers in florida. orlando is the one destination this year. tampa, fort meyers and mom are also in the top ten on that list.
9:33 am
business headlines. i bet she need a spring break. >> please. can i get a babysitter? >> let's start with the markets. >> pretty good. dow's up 52 points. the other markets are higher. the dow is positive for the we will take it. we're getting a slew of data coming in. but investors are optimistic, even though we have the price of oil down. wh pretty surprising, usually when oil goes one way, stocks go the same way. >> apple ceo spoke out, saying if he has to create this software, it's the equivalent of cancer. what's the story there? >> he spoke exclusively to abc news. and tim cook said, look, the government wants us to create a back door to the iphone and we can get information if we do that, likely from the iphone used by one of the san bernadino terrorists.
9:34 am
saying this is a bad idea. this is wad for america. it's the software equivalent of cancer. because who knows when the requests would stop to get information from apple. he also kind of alludes to how tricky this issue is and why people on both sides of the aisle here. some things are hard. some things are right and some things are both and this is an example of something that is both right and hard. >> yeah, exactly. and let's finish with this one, bacon prices going to drop. why is that? >> so you can take home more bacon without taking home more bacon. >> i see what you did there. >> i can i confused myself in the process. for a while, we saw bacon prices go up, up and up and now we're starting to see them move in the other direction. the usda says pork bell ies in coal cold storage are at the highest level in about a year. so with that, we should not see the price of bacon go up anymore. >> now i want eggs and some cheese and a bagel.
9:35 am
and seven nights sleep. >> for seven hours overnight. >> and free room and board add casa brown. >> that, too. and hot coffee in the morning. with steamed milk, thanks. >> i don't think that's asking too much. give the woman what she wants. >> thanks, amy. >> you know what, i'm not even gonna go down that road. you can catch lauren each weekday morning on the fox business network. 5:00 a.m. eastern time. if you're not sure where to find it, jayme, turn away. don't even look at me. go to foxbusiness.com/channelfinder. >> i recollect always tell. jayme king stands over there and i can always tell when he's smirking. i can see him out the corner of my eye. all right, here we go. 50s out the door right now. if you leave right now, 55 at orlando ocala to gainesville and the low end 50s. by tonight, we trend much, much colder. and today much cooler than yesterday. hitting highs in the low 80s before the front.
9:36 am
winds and cooler times ahead. 65 by two and by 5:00, around 63. a cool day might feel a little chilly as that wind picks up from time to time. we also find quite a bit of snow flakes flying around the upper great lakes, as far south is the western carolinas and a portion of the tennessee. and all that nasty weather finally getting on out as the front pushes it away on the back side of that front, a cool air plenty. look at this. sticks around for quite a few days. i'll address that and more in your weekend out look. you'll love the details in the forecast coming up in ten minutes. guys? >> huge honor as it is every year when we have one of the harlem globetrotters in the house to talk about an upcoming show. and we're joined this morning by buck. >> thanks for having me. >> thanks for coming back to visit us. i want you to talk about gainesville. you just went up there, got to
9:37 am
that video, officer white who made all that happen. what was that like? >> it was fun to see the police inspiring the young kids to keep staying active and the kids are playing basketball and staying out of trouble and bringing the community together. i think that's pretty awesome when you get the opportunity to have law enforcement in the local neighborhood kids on the same page, despite what's going on in the rest of the world or the rest of the united states. they're actually giving an example of what other neighborhoods can get involved in. >> it's awesome. you guys have three separate teams. >> well, not separate. we'll call them units. >> how does that work? >> it's pretty awesome. there's 30 players, 27 men, three women. there's a woman on each team. we have a red, white and blue unit. and each unit plays at least 105 games apiece. and that covers the u.s. and canada. so that's our north american tour and then one of our teams will break off and go to europe
9:38 am
>> so this is a fun story. you guys named the pope an honorary globetrotter. does he have any moves? does he have any skills? >> you know what, one of my teammates -- actually, it was four guys there. it was flight time, big easy, ed, and highlight. and flight time was the one picked to spin the ball on his finger and he couldn't get it on there. i'm pretty sure the pope woulda been able to spin it, but flight time was so nervous. because he didn't know what the laws were. >> so this year, you guys have started the great assist initiative. what was that, exactly? >> it's our goal to get 100 million smiles in the next ten years and there's two right here. and then the best way to do that for us is to get out into the communities. i'm going to get a chance to visit rose mont elementary, talk to our kids about the abcs of bullying prevention program, a character education program, we

9:45 am
>> let's take a listen. >> if you remember brenda k's star, she was a pop star, but her voice was amazing and you see where she gets it from. >> and last night, they put her in a different light. she was always looking like a 15 -year-old with the curly hair and dressing like a kid. they put her to show her she has had star potential. i feel like she has the most potential growth out of the all the actual contest nets. >> even if she doesn't win it this time, she's got the pedigree, the connections and the talent. >> let's listen the kristin

mark for high comes sunday afternoon. all that provided by high pressure. next system, loads up to our north by sunday. but i think the high is going to be too strong to allow that in. if we're to look down the road say the next 6, 7, 8 days out, there's a stronger system potentially getting in here by this time next week. until i see a00 % proof, we address that and bring in a rain chance. skibts over the far north. ocala and gainesville, up to alachua, widespread 40s in the coastal zones and over the deep interior. clearer skies tonight, good cooling out there. bottom out through the 40s. same on saturday morning. same on sunday morning. slowly modifying temperatures with shifting winds close to by next wednesday began increase in clouds during that time. weather baby for you right now. a good looker. skilla, good looking kid here. yes, sowhat a face and mr. tristen, looking good. this kid needs to be on a
