and forest city road. down the street from river side elementary school. that's where we find fox 35's jackie orozco who has the details on what happened. good morning, jackie. >> reporter: good morning, amy. that 8-year-old boy is in critical condition at florida hospital south. this morning the district said that they're going to bring crisis counselors here aft the boy's school to help them get through this. a group of kids were walking home from school yesterday afternoon and took a route into the canal area, and a unusual route as well. the they kaled the fence. the 8-year-old boy was walking across the concrete walkway, and somehow he fell into the water. the boy yelled for help and her son pulled him out of the water. >> he has a big heart.

thought he could help out. he was one of the only children who knew how to swim. so he took off his shoes andcihy jumped right in and saved him. >> reporter: i've been speaking with a few parents this morning. they're sending out their love and prayers for the family. they're hoping for the best for the child. he's in critical condition. this morning, a crisis counselors will be here at the school to help the students. reporting here in orlando. >> john: a father is expected to make his first appearance in court today. 58-year-old gary edmondson shot 34-year-old gary edmonson jr. the son tells deputies that he and his father were fighting about his mother.

admitted to shooting his son after the two chest bumped. a man is in custody after turning himself in. they believe that he got into an argument with a 25 man and shot him. the suspect got into a car and drove off and crashed into a wall. he took off running but turned himself in. he faces a first degree murder charge. >> amy: ormond beach police said that it happened yesterday afternoon on agreed nazza boostled -- grenada. they said that the woman left her 3-year-old alone. the blazer shifted in reverse and started moving. the child fell out of the scwusk was injured. and investigators are looking

it was a big night, and luanne has details. >> reporter: scott kelly touched down around 11:30 after a very long journey from the international space station. it took kelly and a russian cosmonaut three and a half hours to reach kazakhstan. they spent 340 straight days 250 miles above earth. they circled the earth more than 5400 times while on board the iss. just before he left the space station, kelly said being in space is a feeling you never quite get used to. >> even after i have been here nearly a year, you don't feel perfectly normal. there's always a lingering something you feel or it's just not normal. >> reporter: kelly and his twin brother, former astronaut mark kelly, have been taking part in

>> amy: welcome back. 6:24 on this wednesday appear a news alert. we're closer to finding the identity of the remains that were found off of u.s. 92 in daytona beach. >> john: the remains may -- were sent to a university in texas for identification. the remains found by a surveyor working on west international speedway boulevard. deputies and florida fish and wildlife found more bones after that. they were sent to the university of texas. it could take up to six months before the remains are identified due to their high caseload. >> amy: law enforcement officers lined the street yesterday to say their final good-byes to

>> reporter: ucf is asking for $20 million from the state board of governors to move forward with their plans for the downtown campus. today the state will either approve or deny the request. so far ucf has $16 million in donations from the community. doctor phil dr. phillips charities donated $2 million. and their goal is to get to $20 million from private donors and kick in $20 million of their own money. >> it's a closer campus. i feel that the energy down there. >> to re-vitalize parramore. campus helping us atrangt new, creative, knowledge based companies and a talented work force. >> reporter: governor rick scott
