victories in the primaries. ryan has more. >> reporter: it was a good night for donald trump. he did not run the table, which many thought was responsible. possible -- thought was possible. and he won seven. and ted cruz won texas and added oklahoma and alaska. sarah palin endorsed donald trump but couldn't pull alaska for him. and rubio wins but it's a state that almost always goes to the democrats. crumpling numbers. the magic number 1237. donald trump is leading with 235. and ted cruz 160. marco rubio with 87. followed by john kasich. he is leading in ohio but well beyond. and ben carson with 8 there as well. hillary clinton had a

8-year-old boy is in the hospital after falling into a canal when walk, home from school. just down the street sphwr river side elementary. that's where jackie orozco is standing by this morning. >> reporter: good morning. that 8-year-old boy is in critical condition at florida hospital south. this morning there will be crisis counselors here at the school. >> i was told that the little boy was in the water. my son was the only one that knew how to swim. so he just jumped into the water to help him. >> reporter: britney said that her son was in 9 right place at the right time. >> he jumped in. >> and saved him.>> reporter: orange county sheriff avenues deputies said that he was in a area they were not supposed to be in. >> the county canal fenced off

pipe that's about 20 feet long, for county workers. >> reporter: somehow the 8-year-old was on that pipe and fell 10 feet into the water. >> other children ran to get help. the fire department responded immediately. and whisked the child away to florida south hospital where he is in very critical condition. >> reporter: they are bringing in crisis counselors at river side elementary. >> it's very traumatic for young kids. they don't think of it like we do. it's scary. >> reporter: it's a good thing they have crisis counselors. >> definitely. both of my kids go to school there, so i am glad that they will do. >> reporter: the crisis counselors they said will be here as long as they need to. >> john: deputies say 58-year-old gary edmonson shot his son gary edmonson jr.

the son is in critical condition. the son tells police that he and his father were fighting about his mother. detectives say his dad admitted to shooting his son after the two chest bumped. >> amy: doctors are treating a toddler who fell out of a moving suv. it happened on grenada boulevard yesterday afternoon. a woman went into a store and left her 3-year-old alone in a chevy blazer. the blazer shifted into reverse and started to move. the child fell out of the suv and was injured. they flew the child to the halifax medical center. they're trying to determine what happened. . >> amy: a year in space coming to an end. >> john: what astronaut scott kelly says about the record time in space.

taking you to orlando just south of the 408. we have a crash that was just cleared on kirkman and county and old winter garden road. some yellows caused a few slowdowns. keep that in mind if you are headed in that direction. >> john: 7:30 on good day. the future of the downtown ucf campus is at stake as leaders make their pitch to the state board of governors. >> amy: they just got another huge donation yesterday. fox 35's gina benitez is joining us live on campus with details. >> reporter: ucf is asking for $20 million from the state to move forward with their plans for the downtown campus. now today the state board of governors will either approve or deny that plan. so far ucf already has $16 million in private funds. dr. phillips charities donated $3 million yesterday. the largest private donation to date. the goal is to get $20 million from private donors and will

last year governor rick scott didn't veto the funding plan but the president of ucf is hopeful that will this year it'll pass. and if ucf gets the funding, the downtown campus is set to open in fall of 2018. >> john: a driver accused of hitting an 8-year-old on his bike is in jail. >> amy: the judge gave the 73-year-old a $15,000 bond on tuesday. police say he was driving down alpine lane in titusville last thursday when he hit the boy. witnesses said he stopped and asked if he should call 911 before he left. then he came back to the scene and told police he heard a bang but didn't know that he hit the boy. the boy is now back home. >> john: a palm bay officer is on administrative leave an shooting and killing a man.
