8:38 am
whether the orlando police department or central florida, across the country. this is community service and it is a job where they go out and do these things and don't get recognized because they know at a part of the job. i didn't think it was anything special and appreciate the station wanted to put positive stories out there about law enforcement and i'm recently retired. >> john: the best in the world. >> i'm glad to see you were bringing us on and police do this and put something out there positive. >> and i imagine, especially someone who is retired from the police force, having spent your whole life, it is hard to watch some stories coming out now and what appears to be a battle in this country over law enforcement? >> absolutely and it is -- we see the narrative that is currently out there, and how, heavy handed law enforcement brutality and everything else and that is why you hear these stories but there are officers every day that do stuff like this.
8:39 am
community service award. there were 3 or 4 other officers, helped the hopingless and everything else. so it is difficult to see that and you see the gun violence against law enforcement officers. and the number of officers killed by gunfire this year and, good for society to know other things are going on besides just officers and brutality. >> john: and when you retire, what is on the tap the rest of the day? golfing? >> my wife wants the house cleaned, i think and, dinner when she gets home! >> amy: we can always use extra help around here! >> john: i saw a mop back there! all right. >> amy: a pleasure to meet you. thank for being with us. thanks. >> john: still to come we're getting a look at new plans for daytona lagoon, who develop, want to bring to datona beach coming up next. >> amy: and on this day in history, march 3rd, 1985, moon lighting starring bruce willis and cybill shepherd aired on
