take a look, and gander downtown. and we're looking good. lake eola's northerly component to the wind freshens up and a cold front is draped down to the south and we did have a nice burst of rain this morning. and we had the lightning and the thunder and everything else that comes with it and now are sitting pretty. we have 50s and 60s and should make it with ease into the mid and upper 70s, a nice day overall, a look at a gradual return of sunshine and we're on our way. 76 by 2:00 and by 5:00, the big drive home, talking about 74. 67 for you, by 8:00 tonight. by the way, we should fall down to the 50s with ease tonight under clear skies and relatively light wind regime. it is all about the dry air. we look many states to the north, and a lot going on. and it is about big, row best high pressure and varying winds and overall looking good. highs through the 70s and look here. next thursday, mid 80s.

i could be wrong, there are a few motorcycles to roared past us. i'm joined by the chamber of commerce, born and raised in datona beach and no one more perfect for the job and it will be a great event for you. >> it is fascinating. to have the 75th anniversary in our community, is such a -- >> well, that extinction. >> john: we'll get out to them in a second. a lot of times -- >> a click -- we're moving on and have other news. developing, a man is gunned down inside of a gated community in orange county. >> the shooter out there on the run, right now and investigators say it happened last night at the cypress point apartments, just off of obt. police say a 22-year-old man was shot and killed, investigators say they are working on getting the description of the suspect

>> amy: deltona siblings -- two siblings accused of stealing money from a girl scout will go before a judge. investigators say the two turned themselves in to deputies yesterday. investigators say it happened last sunday, in front of the wal-mart in deltona. deputies say the girl was selling girl scout cookies when they snatched her money box that contained $200. they are scheduled to make first appearances later today. lake county deputies arrest a motorcyclist accused of daredevil stunts which they say put other lives in danger. the lake county sheriffs office says christopher clark taunted a deputy on a motorcycle, by driving erratically. the deputy tried to run the license plate and was bent in a way it couldn't be read clearly. when deputies say clark sped off. investigators say other police agencies had similar run-ins with him. >> he has been pursued by multiple agencies in reference to the fleeing and eluding and

police and will come by and speed up and break traffic laws. >> john: turns out the various police arrested him for driving without a license preventiously. so the deputy dug around on social media and found his facebook page, in the pictures, investigators say he was even wearing the same clothes he had on the day they tried to pull him over, arrest and charged with fleeing and eluding. >> amy: a man from seminole county is out of jail after his six-year-old niece killed herself with his gun. a tragic story. >> luanne: this is video of eric williams as he walked out of the seminole county jail last night. investigators say he was babysitting aleatha burke and she accidentally shot herself. this is a photo of her, given to our news partners at the orlando sentinel. her family says that she loved being a kindergartner and enjoyed coloring with her friends and singing her favorite pop songs with herr classmates.

playing on the living room floor of her family's home in sanford and found the loaded handgun underneath the couch. she picked up the gun and that is when it went off. burke was shot in the shoulder, police say williams was actually the one who took her to the hospital. where she later died. he was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. here's what his mother had to say. >> he's and in isn't person. they say he was a babysitter but he's a loving baby-sitter. >> williams is due back in court on april 5th. john, amy? >> andrea jackson, came up with quarters and put them in the side of the live truck and now we're going back out to bike week where the bikers will be rolling in you, fingers crossed, sorry to cut off the interview. it went poof and you were gone! >> reporter: it happens, and luckily i had a dollar bill and it took change and i was able to put quarters back in the truck and restart it again! we're in good shape. i hope, fingers crossed. the chamber of commerce, born

for the job, responsible for starting oktoberfest and now is in charge of bike week, a great event. how much does it mean to you? >> it means everything in the world. i'll tell you, to be able to participate in the 75th anniversary of an event, something that has been going on in our community for 75 years, is pretty amazing. >> let's talk about sturgis, they had the big 75th year last year and you had a lot of marketing and material to drum up interest for 75 years in datona beach. how much of an effect will it have. we could tell right after sturgis the numbers went up on all -- and, people had an interest immediately. >> reporter: the numbers, half a million people expected? >> anticipated. half a million is what we average and with it being the 75th year we have talked to accommodate tors and they say they are doing well and rooms are sold above last year and

been used as far as the vendors and the activity and the location, so we'll anticipate a pretty large crowd. >> the number that astounldz me, 7 -- astounds me, $75 million. >> $75 million in ten days! ten days, yes. astonishing. >> reporter: talk about the new things that will be happening here, the bandshell. >> yes, we have the daytona -- harley-davidson company is doing great activities with all of our sponsors at this bandshell and are bringing in eddie money in concert. a great bike -- great bike builders and shows and that is a very unique venue because it sits on the beach which is where those beach races used to take place 75 years ago. >> and we're not calling them bikers, they are riders, is that right? >> exactly right. as things change and generations change they now refer to themselves as riders because that is what they love to do. they love to ride, ride around town and go on trips, on their motorcycles. what they love.

>> right now, he's 4th in the delegate count and counting on a win in his home state of ohio on march 15th. donald trump of course leads in delegates right now, ted cruz in second. and marco rubio is in third. the 5th time going to be a charm? >> amy: we hope so, after four scrubbed launches spacex will try and launch the falcon 9 again tonight. but will it happen? plus, the man considered to be the first astronaut joining us live in our studios, this morning.

joe kittinger and talk about the >> amy: before there was john glenn in space and neil armstrong walking on the moon. there was joe kittinger, an aviation pioneer from right here in central florida. he's considered by many to be the first astronaut. after a capsule ride took him 97,000 feet above the earth in 1957 and then, in 1960 he did a free-fall and parachute-jumped 102,800 feet back to earth. and, space travels are a small piece of kittinger's incredible

and we should mention he might be the nicest guy on earth and he's here. we're hooned to be joined by joe kittinger himself. thank you so much. great to see you again! >> great to be back. >> amy: good to see you again. take us back to that day. how scared, how nervous were you as you were making this jump? >> well, i was prepared for it. i trained for it. i visualized it a thousand times. and, had a great team behind me and had confidence in my team and my equipment and when it came time to go i was ready to go. >> amy: no nerves at all. no, like, oh... >> a little bit of nerves, yes. i was going into the unknown and never done before but, i had confidence in what we were doing and why we were doing it. >> john: but it wasn't just about being a daredevil, right? there was science behind this and you paved the way for a lot of the astronauts of today, didn't you? >> the whole purpose of science, man had never been outside of a spacecraft in space, one of the

escape from high altitude and we were there for science, not for notoriety and records. >> john: how long did you fall. >> 4 minutes and 36 second free fall -- >> four minutes of free fall. >> the parachute opened, it is anticlimactic, 12 minutes after the parachute opened. >> amy: we have watched george h. w. bush jump out of planes and he keeps doing it. do you still have the -- a little bit of daredevil in you to want to keep doing this? >> i do and i watch george bush do it instead. >> john: makes it easy. >> but i still fly planes and balloons and, the sky is still my office. >> john: i tell you, this week our local guy has been getting nationwide attention, pbs has a special going right now called space men. you got to see -- i only saw a little bit and i have it recorded and it will be on-line to check it out. what do you think about the special they did on you.

the neat thing about it was it brought you up-to-date on the history of the research that was done before the space-age started. a chapter of aviation history that is kind of forgotten. because of the space-age was so exciting when it took place. it also paid tribute to dr. staff, a visionary that knew we were going into space and sp did back in those days, it was a great program. >> amy: take us box a couple of years ago, felix baumgartner, you helped me remember the name in the commercial, made the same jump that you made. and i remember back then, that you had been in contact with him. through the process. is that right? >> i worked on that program for five years. i developed the checklist and the emergency procedures and i was a capsule communicator with him during all three jumps he made. i was very much involved in the

attractions area. a nice day visiting our fine state. welcome to our home. a burst of rain and storminess early this morning is out. the good stuff on the way in now. it has been with us all morning, temperatures sliding through those 50s and 60s, we have the sun on our side. and a great, great looking day for you. i'll check it out here. gradual return to sunshine. slowly but surely i'm told areas of southern brevard county and indian river a little bit of last vestige of cloud cover on top, shouldn't last much longer and the front is off to the south, grand bahamas in the next hour or two. you can see it kicking through central florida. nothing but dry air ahead of this and looks as though -- behind it, looks as though we're with the dry air component all weekend. the gulf scene, damp to start things off, a delightful ending, ample sunshine and high and

highs through mid and upper 70s, despite a cool front coming through. looks like high pressure will remain in place, keeping us rather temperate for the weekend and very nice weather overall. as you look at the big picture, standing behind it, move out of the way and show you the series of fronts will continue moving our way. a big one might arrive by this time next weekend but before we see the front get in here, looking for booming temperatures, by next friday. thursday-friday timeframe, solid and middle 80s during the time. if you like it warm we have the weather you are looking for. the model forecast, locally for the weekend, everything hinging on the heels of high pressure and looks like a good one. thumbs up for sure. let's look at your 7-day forecast. shows the 70s, sunshine and those warmer temps, phasing in mid-week of next week, 83 wednesday and by thursday, 85 degrees and no chance of rain. enjoy! here countries tonight with live drive. >> kristin: i want to take outside. here's i-4 in the distance, downtown orlando, the cars coming towards you are going westbound and that is the 408

seeing some delays and some back-ups there. there is a lot of congestion on the eastbound side of i-4, heading towards the downtown orlando area. and, just south of the 408, we are seeing this crash that is causing some delays right there on goldenrod road. and it is right there at pine fork drive. you see the oranges there, that is some delays we're seeing there. taking a look right here, on the 27, u.s. 27, we do have a lane blocked, this is in clermont. we have highway up 27 southbound and a lane blocked from lake louisa road and green cove boulevard, not causing any delays, time for your traffic, pump patrol, fox 35 pump patrol, regular gas is just $1.62 at the sunoco at east altamonte drive and anchor road in altamonte springs. you can always check out gas saving tips on our web site at www.fox35orlando.com. john and amy, back to you. >> john: time runs out to find a permanent home for volusia county's homeless. >> we'll tell you why local

is no plan in place for the homeless in volusia county. county leader were able to agree on a new facility but not one people are hoping for. the news journal reports that county leader approved a plan at the meeting for the homeless facility for children and families but the council made no progress towards establishing an adult only shelter. the county is offering $4 million for the construction of the 250 bed shelter in datona beach. the city leader say they don't want to be the only ones who are paying to operate it. wednesday's meeting, city leaders offered to spend $400,000 a year in operating costs, and county leaders call that move meaningless without a contract in place. also, new this morning, flagler county leaders are looking to improve student safety. flagler, the new technology, is being created that will change the way students wait for the school bus. a pad will now be placed at some stops, showing students where they should be standing. the idea is to get those

security guard who is accused of murdering a woman in downtown orlando. >> the story kicks off the morning rush on this friday morning, a judge set the murder trial for october 10th. last month a grand jury indict him on charges of first degree murder, attempted sexual battery and burglary. he's accused of murdering ing ing a 27-year-old last october. a security guard at the apartments where she lived. >> amy: osceola county deputies need your help identifying this man accused of robbing a many golf course. deputies say he walked up to the window of the congo river golf course and slipped a note to the workers demanding money and took off with the cash. no one was hurt but they got really good surveillance photos, it is clear who he is but don't know who he is and need your help. if you recognize him call the sheriffs office. >> john: early voting for the florida primary begins tomorrow from brevard and seminole counties, people living in orange and lake county are

florida's primary is tuesday, march 15, election officials are warning voters to make sure they vote for someone actually still in the race, several candidates dropped out since ballots were produced. students across the nation getting ready to take the saturday after the exam gets an extreme facelift. students take the test tomorrow which is when the new changes go into effect. according to the college board the essay portion of the exam is optional. and the math is more tightly focused. outdated, obscure vocabulary will be gone from the reading portion, officials say the new version will help students focus on the content. >> we have gotten rid of the penalty and want students focused on answering questions and doing their best work rather than strategies or tricks about whether or not they should be guessing. >> john: the sat also has fewer questions, 154 compared to 171. if your child wants to see what they are up against, take
