breaker on daytona beach. >> at the jail with this story. >> we saw a cop car driving really fast with his lights on. >> reporter: it happened here at daytona beach near the ocean section of the beach around 1:30 this afternoon when the beach was packed with spring breakers. >> they are cracking down on the drinking. >> reporter: a beach patrol officer was trying to arrest 20-year-old jamie gordon for an alcohol violation when he resisted and took off running. >> our officer got into a scuffle with him and was unfortunately injured. the officer dislocated his shoulder. >> reporter: gordon was then charged with several offenses. the patrol officer says they're only two and a half weeks into the spring break season and already they've had a record number of alcohol arrests. >> our crowds are a lot bigger than the previous years for spring break. we have\gz

the month of march and april only about 94 alcohol arrests. we're way over that as of right now. >> and that was tiffany teasley reporting. we're following some breaking news from volusia county tonight. frank sinatra jr. has allegedly died. he was supposed to perform tonight in daytona beach, but he had a heart attack and died. a family statement says the family is mourning the untimely passq]w&z of their son, brother, father and uncle. no other details were provided. new tonight at 10:00. it's one of the fastest lights in orange county. it's frustrated drivers blowing through the intersection all day long, and that's caused some concerns. as a local driver sent us a cell phone video and asked us to take a look at this. keith landry tells us what's

it is maddening, frustrated drivers can not believe it. it's the left-hand turn, revving up driver's blood pressure because the traffic light is freaky fast. >> i'm concerned that someone's going to walk out in front of a car and get hit. >> reporter: rob took this cell phone video while stop inside the turning, left lane, asking us to find out why that light is so darn quick. >> it's really frustrating when you're trying to get to work on time and you have family here and you're worried about them getting hit. >> we're talking about the left-hand turn signal if you're coming from dr. phillips. are you seeing cars run the light? >> absolutely, two to four cars every single cycle that the light changes. >> reporter: this evening our camera captured several cars charges through that intersection after the arrow clearly turned red.

assault rifle to school to howard middle school in ocala. they says this an isolated i incident. they continue to investigate do, if anything. in seminole county two students were arrested after a bb gun was found. the gun turned over to the sheriff's office and no students were hurt. a stolen suv crashes and bursts into flames in volusia county. 18-year-old andre carjacked a woman stopped at a red light. she and her child were able to get out. her dog was still in that car when the driver took off. >> helped him get the guy out of the car so we can get him away from the fire because it was fixing to blow. >> there was a gentlemen drabbing him out, and the car was already on fire. he was dragging the man out and

burst into flames, probably 20-foot flames coming out of the car. >> you're worried about the dog? there's kenzie right there. only some minor injuries right there. he was found several hours later and reunited with his family. you decide 2016 one day after donald trump wins florida's primary the governor has endorsed him. rick scott underring republicans to ruly behind the gop front runner. he didn't want to endorse sooner to intervene on tuesday's vote. john kasich is celebrating his win in ohio. today he was in pennsylvania where he talked about the possibility that -- when the convention rolls around. that would force a contested convention this summer in cleveland, and kasich says if that happens he's the best option. >> they're going to look at somebody that can actually be president of the united states. who has a record of

perhaps influence on the platform, and you've noticed influence perhaps in hillary clinton's speeches. notice how she's stressed income equality in her speech in florida and getting donations from small donors. i think she's embracing a lot of what bernie sanders has had to say in her best interest to united party that she will be reaching out to bernie sanders, not necessarily putting him on the ticket, but making sure he has a role to play in the444444444444 democratic party. but in the presidential campaign later this year. >> mark, he just alluded to what i want to talk about. for the republicans isnn far more convoluted. now that marco rubio is out. what happens to those delegates right now? >> it depends on the rules of state where rubio won those delegates.

the best estimate that i saw today shows there could be 90 out of 169 delegates that are unbound, which means they're going to be freed up to vote for whoever they want to vote for. add those to the current, unbound delegates, and there could be over 200 unbound delegates. doesn't sound like a big number, but just imagine this. what if donald trump comes 100, 200 votes shy of getting enough delegates, those 200 unbound delegates are going to be very important, and even though marco rubio is not going to win the nomination, his delegates may play a role in the fate of donald trump. >> gentlemen, always good to talk to you. thank you so much. and senator marco rubio dropped out of the presidential race last night after losing badly in florida, and now we're learning more about his future plans.

re-election for the senate. the next presidential primary is tuesday, march 22nd voters in arizona and utah are heading to the polls. arizona is a big prize and the republican winner will take all 50 delegates. idaho has their democratic caucus that day. stay with fox 35 for continuing coverage. the orange county supervisor of elections office is working to correct a payroll error with 14 hub -- 1400 workers at the poll yesterday. they didn't move the money into the correct account. when poll workers went to cash their checks today apparently they bounced. the problem has been fixed and workers will get their paychecks in the mail. if they need the money sooner they can pick their checks up. he's battling his own life, threatening illnesses, but one local teenager gave up his own wish to help others looking to have their wishes granted. we're going to learn more about

in january 2015 she was driving drunk when they say she lost control and hit a concrete barrier, flipping the car several times. her passenger, 24-year-old candace later died of her injuries. detectives say she wasn't wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. other passengers buckled in survivorred the crash. she was allowed to bond out in the condition she would stay away from bars and stop drinking. she couldn't resist. a picture that could haunt her in the future. >> the state can still use them at a sentencing hearing to show while this is pending she should be doing aa classes. >> >> reporter: she'll sit in jail until her case is resolved. gloria gomez, fox 35 news.
